  • The much anticipated 4 disc deluxe edition of the iconic album by Porcupine Tree.

    More info: kscopemusic.co...
Featuring remastered stereo and 5.1 surround sound mixes, additional studio recordings, a disc of unreleased demos and a new feature length Lasse Hoile directed documentary on Blu-ray. 4 disc set presented in a 100-page hardback book.
In Absentia was Porcupine Tree’s seventh studio album, first released in 2002, and was the first in a run of three albums that for many represent the pinnacle of the band's artistic achievements. Not many albums can claim to have created a new genre, but with its fusion of metal, progressive rock, ambient textures, and acoustic singer-songwriter styled material, it became something of a blueprint for a generation of bands to come. It was also something of a breakthrough for the band, eventually going on to sell three times more than the band’s previous releases. In Absentia features many of Porcupine Tree’s most beloved songs, including "Trains", "The Sound of Muzak" and "Blackest Eyes". While not a formal concept album, many of the songs have common themes related to serial killers, youthful innocence gone wrong, and observations of the modern world, setting a template for many of songwriter Steven Wilson's future songs.
This new deluxe version of In Absentia provides an unrivalled insight into the context of the seminal album. The first CD features Steven Wilson's 2017 remaster, which has considerably less compression and limiting for a more dynamic listening experience.
The second CD includes all of the additional finished studio recordings the band made during the period. "Collapse (intro)", "Drown With Me", "Chloroform", and "Meantime" were all recorded during the album sessions in New York, while "Futile" and "Orchidia" come from the post-album promo-only Futile EP. Radio edits of "Trains", "Blackest Eyes" and "Strip the Soul" are also included.
The third CD comprises over 70 minutes of demos recorded at Wilson's home studio during the two years leading up to recording the album. Many of the selections differ from the final versions, with additional sections, alternate lyrics, and different arrangements. Also included are demos of three songs that were not subsequently recorded by the band, all released here for the first time: "Imogen Slaughter", "Watching You Sleep", and “Enough".
The Blu-ray features the new master of the original stereo mix, the 5.1 surround sound mix created in 2003 by legendary engineer Elliot Scheiner, plus the audio from the second CD, all in high resolution audio. It also boasts a new 109-minute feature length documentary film directed by Lasse Hoile, chronicling the making of the album with interviews and archive footage.
The 100-page deluxe hardback book is filled with exclusive content, including photography by Lasse Hoile, Carl Glover, Richard Barbieri and John Blackford from the recording sessions, subsequent tour and more, extensive biographical liner notes and track-by-track commentary by Stephen Humphries, artwork drafts, and handwritten notes and lyrics.

Train set and match spied under the blind
Shiny and contoured the railway winds
And I've heard the sound from my cousin's bed
The hiss of the train at the railway head
Always the summers are slipping away
60 ton angel falls to the earth
A pile of old metal, radiant blur
Scars in the country, summer and her
Always the summers are slipping away
Find me a way for making it stay
When I hear the engine pass, I'm kissing you wide
The hissing subsides, I'm in luck
When the evening reaches here you're tying me up
I'm dying of love, it's okay
When I hear the engine pass, I'm kissing you wide

The same thing happened to me back in 2009 right after The Incident came out. I happened to look in the paper and see they were playing at a local venue for about $20 a ticket. Let me tell you, they put on one hell of a show, and the crowd size was criminally small. Shortly after that was when they disbanded.

I just found PT about 6-8 months ago. I first fell in love when I heard Arriving. I just HAD to hear more. Then I found In Absentia. So many gems, it blew my mind. So I told my husband to check them out and he is now a bigger fan than i am. Too little to late though. We'll never get to see them perform together which is such a bummer for us as seeing live music and going to shows is a huge part of our lives.

Is "train set" an item or a phrase used to refer that the train is set on the railway?
Also what does "spied" mean in here? I'm assuming it's referring to the act of concealing and carrying something secretly, in this case, I'm assuming the "train set" and "match".
Even if I were to understand the syntax of this sentence I still think this is the most mysteriouys line lyrically and lexically in the song.

Snoodler69 did you not get the email from Burning Shed that said they are aware of the mistake and all of us that bought the Deluxe box set will receive a correct Blu Ray in a few weeks.
      So just hold on. 😊

God, will the pain of that death ever leave? Should we ever want it to? I don't think I'd ever feel anything ever again if that pain were to leave me. I suffer it gladly, I suppose.
