  • The Engenius EAG-2408 Antenna is a really nice quality exterior 8dBi omni-directional antenna complete with aluminum pole-mountain hardware. It's a bargain for around $25. If you have any questions about the antenna or the setup I'm building, please ask me in the comments or on my website - richkent.com/

Hi Mark - thanks for the heads up! I've been using it on the opposite side, and it definitely does boost the signal - but I'll have to try connecting it to the side near the power supply and see if it helps or hurts the signal. I'll do a video test when I have a chance - but am not in an area with a lot of wifi signals at the moment.

If you're sending wifi somewhere specific then I'd recommend a directional antenna at both ends. You'll get better signal strength. The directional antennas usually look like panels and you can aim them at each other.
The repeater I'm using has 2 antennas and I only connected the high gain antenna to the 'main' antenna mount. The other antenna still sends and receives signal, so no - I didn't lose wifi strength.

Yes it will. I used it with an Amped Wireless Repeater - The SR300 High Power Wireless-N Range Extender.

That's correct - although you do need a cable to attach the two. I have the antenna mounted on a pole on the roof which helps a lot with range. From what I can tell I've picked up signals up to half a mile away. I think it could connect at a greater distance if I had perfect line of sight - but I haven't tested it. Good luck Duane!

So where is your review? This isn't a review but only showing what the product looks like! I can care less how it looks as long as it works good!
Please create another video showing how far it can reach in your RV and then maybe I'll call it a review!

GeniusSteven Hi Steven - it's more of an unboxing style review than a review of the functionality of the product. I made it because I found zero info about the product online and ordered it anyway, and I figured seeing it would be helpful. It works well too - but to review it that way well I'd need to test several antennas back to back. I really don't know how it compares from a range/signal strength standpoint.

A quick note for all doing this. If you increase one antenna dbi size then the other needs to be close to it. access points don't like unbalanced antennas.
Found this out when I did the same thing and researched my situations that came from 15dbi and 5dbi not happy access point

Can you make a flow up video of how this worked on your RV?

The router I was connecting to was giving me around 77% signal strength before I installed the antenna and jumped to 98% signal strength after. One HUGE caveat though - the repeater was inside on the first test and the antenna I added is mounted outside.

Thanks - I'm pretty sure you can screw it right to the top of a Ubiquiti Bullet - I've seen it done that way actually. The antenna appears to be a Male N type in that it has threads and the cable screws onto the end, and yet Trendnet (the cable manufacturer) calls their cable a Male N type - perhaps they mean that it screws to a Male N type. At any rate, the antenna has threads and the cable screws onto the antenna. I hope that helps.

Nice video. Wish you would have pulled the cap off the end of the antenna so we could see the thread type. I want to use it with a Ubiquiti Bullet and wanted to see if it has a male or female N type.
    Thanks for the upload.

Hi Antoine - sorry for taking so long to reply. I haven't had any problems yet. I've been in California for a bit and so it hasn't been subjected to much in the way of weather. I'll make a video showing how I set it up and how it's mounted. I've been slacking!

Update I used my tv antenna on my RV to attach my omni directional wifi antenna to and so when I raise the tv antenna the wifi raise also. I can even still rotate the tv for singal pickup and with the omni wifi no worries there. I just crank down both at once.
Was great when rain came and I had to move campsetup

Hi - It works great actually. I need to do a follow up video and I'll show how I'm using it. I have a better video camera now too.
I can't place affiliate links on youtube so didn't. I plan to place this on a website with an affiliate link - but I'll put a link to the product in the description (non-affiliate). Thanks!

I see no reason why it wouldn't pick up signals from the TP-Link. The only routers that are difficult to repeat are ATT/2Wire routers - and that has more to do with the repeater software itself. I chose Amped Wireless because they were the only repeaters I could find that can handle ATT/2Wire.

Thank you so much. great video, I bought TP-Link antenna TL-ANT2415D , I make sure that the router connect with it. But I go out to check if it boosts the signal with my iPhone and it didn't!
I don't know if it connects with other router or access point, not directly with phones or laptops.
If there any settings or something please help me, my router is Huawei E5172s-927.

Hey, this video is great. I have a setup where I want to bounce a wifi signal about 250 feet to our barn. Have you thought about using a parabolic reflector with this antenna to direct the signal to the source? Also, when you connected the outdoor antenna, did you lose wifi strength inside your home?

Hey Rich I was wondering how the antenna is holding up. Is the mounting still secure and what problems did you run into using this antenna?

So if I'm connecting this to my router to boost my signal what kind of cables would I need to connect it?

And what ports do I need on my router?

Hi Jordan - I used this cable: amzn.to/1xuSs5U
Note that the large side screws right onto the base of the antenna, and the other side screws directly onto a standard router antenna mount. I'd recommend using a router/repeater that has two antennas, so you can leave one antenna on the router so you get signal while using wifi close to the router - which can be an issue depending on where you mount the Engenius antenna.

Hi Joey - I'm not tech support for the antenna - just a guy that bought one and shot a video of it because it was difficult to even find a good picture of the antenna online.
