I think this is my first time commenting on an svt video. The first mv I ever watched was HOT on your channel so if I ever fall into this blackhole, I’m blaming you 😂😂😂
Woozi said they intentionally made a choreography video-like MV because this song is made for heavily performance song. And for the FML, the MV was inspired by Truman Show. And in the mv you can see that hoshi’s line went “i wonder why cant i be like the hero i wacthed growing up” and he drew a mongkey character in the mirror (thats actually Sonogong, the main character that they potray in Super). His story is very inspirational too which is mostly talking about how his biggest enemy is himself. So everytime he fight his own demon, his getting stronger. For short, its about facing your challenge and overcome your fears. Thats why a lot of anime was made based on Sonogong stories like the famous one SON GOKU from dragon ball. And thats the message woozi tried to convey in this song. I just knew that Woozi anime head was on a cloud nine for him to finally push his anime freak agenda into their title track 😂❤
The thing with the fml mv is that they recreated multiple scenes from the movie The Truman Show, which make a lot of sense combined with the lyrics (the flashlight that fell on mingyu's car, an astronaut drawn on hoshi's mirror, people preventing wonwoo from entering the bus, woozi having trouble with his car, dino realizing the stars are artificial, jeonghan with the boat while a storm is coming, etc) I love the song btw, is my favorite from the album
SVT wrote a long message in their “thanks to” part of the physical album and at the end of the message they wrote ; “Thank you for being our silver lining” This album literally SVT way of saying how grateful they are to everyone around them - at the end of the day, no matter how emotionally abusive life gets, you can still find love and hope from people around you that loves you. It’s actually the message of the two title tracks. If you look at the album, theres a reason why FML comes first before Super - FML talked about struggles while Super talk about how they overcome the struggles by not giving up and they become the stronger version of themselves. Woozi said that Fck My Life usually has a negative conotation but they made it hopeful somehow thats why they change the lyrics to “Fight For My Life” instead. #TEAMSVT forever - im in this diamond life fiveeverrrr 💎❤️💕

Woozi (a highly empathic INFJ) said he wrote this in the middle of the night, and it was very hard. He said he had to dig deep and face all the "demons" and negativity people worldwide are facing right now, and it became very emotional for him and HARD to write the song. The purpose is to express what I would say the majority of the world's population are thinking/feeling right now, especially in those countries where people are under surveillance (Seungkwan, a whistleblower, in the corporate world, trying to escape like Truman did; DK finding a camera in his lamp and drones outside his window, so he smashes his TV which may also be spying on him; etc.), where everything wrong seems to be happening (Woozi doesn't even HAVE a driver's license and doesn't drive on purpose, so he probably would feel dumb trying to start a car and turning on the wipers instead...but Truman's car wouldn't start either), Mingyu having a stage camera fall on his car (just like the camera fell nearly hitting Truman in The Truman Show...there are SO MANY references to The Truman Show in this video it's unreal!), Joshua saying goodbye to a friend only to find a button pin just like Truman did. They're all trying to escape the "set", but keep getting blocked. Truman desperately wanted to go overseas, purchased tickets, but was too afraid of the water to go. Woozi has a ticket, but keeps getting blocked...again, just like Truman did. The only way Truman could escape was to put a dummy in his bed (like Hoshi) so the producers of the show would think he was sleeping while he ran away. Did you notice that the drawing in the mirror that Hoshi is looking at is a monkey...referring to Sonongong? And another thing I found significant is that as Dino is looking up at the night sky, the Big Dipper constellation changes into the Southern Cross. The title of the book Woozi is reading is "Microwave and RF Design of Wireless Systems"...a tip of the hat to a "conspiracy theory" that we're being zapped with negative energies via technology (including our cell phones). It's significant that S.Coups finally walks over and turns off the lights on the set, indicating this life is nothing but a stage. Once the lights are out, that's when you see the ocean, with storm clouds forming in the background....just like the director of The Truman Show created to drown Truman once he finally beat his fear and got on a boat. TOO MANY references to the movie; and it's EXACTLY how people are feeling everywhere. Even The8 said he's felt this way many times, and his only salvation--which is everyone's--was to find himself, which he does through meditation. So overall I think the video is beautiful...Seventeen letting CARATs know THEY UNDERSTAND what they're feeling...especially those in China and other tightly controlled countries...and that the way to overcome is to return to and find yourself. Don't quit, don't let the numbness (apathy) set it, don't hide your feelings by just laughing it off, don't fear your past self embarrassing you now. FIND YOURSELF. FIGHT For Your Life (the billboards behind Jun read "Nothing Will Make You Happy", "Waves of Fear Coming To You" and "Avoid Challenges/Stay Safe"...the messages/propaganda of the world and what we must ignore). And CARATs...Seventeen understands what you're going through and feeling, too!

Besides the two title tracks, my most fav song of the album is actually “I dont understan but i luv u” godd the guitar is just masterpiece PLUS their voices (performance team surprise me yet again in every comeback🫠) and the second one is actually kinda surprising for me because im not usually into this kinda of song but “FIRE” from hip hop unit is just *chefs kiss* like the instrumental and how wonwoo and vernon manage to corporate the boxing bells as one of the melody is wowww. The only complain about the song is, its too short. Dust and April Shower is also so good, it made me think like im a main character of a movie. These songs suits as a drama and a movie soundtrack actually. And i couldnt rank them so i will put them in the same position! Overall, another no skip album from SVT!

It's so strange the way that people (who don't follow it) have this perception of kpop as throw away and cutesy and just about pretty boys/girls dancing and performing a catchy tune, when in actual fact so much of kpop is a lot deeper, more meaningful and generally more thought out than western music.
