This channel should be mandatory viewing for all young people (and college petrochemical undergrads) interested in going into the oil industry! So informative and interesting, and shows you the reality of the oil patch. Great videos - keep them coming!! I worked for a major oil company in the 1990's, and I wish that YT and this channel existed then.
Glad you covered the topic of “future” money. People looked at me like I had four heads when I would say “it took me two million dollars to make my first million dollars”.
Do you ever get on to the county's That lets they're sewers run into the rivers or inject into the water system. Or big corporations that hurt our environment. You need to watch real estate mindset and watch Mitch talk about the local authority corruption in taxes.
Shirts perfect for the video drop dude! I watch ya religiously and will prob never explore fer oil but I CANNOT GET ENOUGH MAN!!!! Please never stop posting man! Cheers from Santa Cruz CA
Great to see an operator who does extra steps to keep the integrity of the well. Not all do but this man is honest and deserves everything he has. Great job can’t wait to see you strike oil with that new rig, cheers from an utah oilfield hand!
The point I want to make about your gamble is the benefit you represent to the community out there by buying goods and services to make your lease work. You help others significantly while all the time you're working on that future return for yourself. That's what America is all about - people like you making it work for lots of others.
I watch many similar channels but nobody else has the wide range of talent that you do. Your multiple skills is something that I identify with as I have been doing many kinds of work all of my life and always opt for buying tools and learning skills over hiring things done. I think the proper word for the way we live is vertical integration.
Next time someone asks me what Im doing under the hood of my truck, I'm gonna to tell them "I'm vertically integrating" as if they should already know that. Lol
I think you did a good job explaining the journey You have taken on Your new lease so far Zach. Your best line was " they think they're going to flip a switch and make money " . I've been in and around the drilling business since the early '70's. My Step Father was a drilling contractor so i know my arse from a hole in the ground. What You are doing a wonderful job of is teaching me lease operator/roust-about. I'm looking forward to more on your completion rig and the mud pump. My favorite day to find something else to do was when it was time to change valve seats and liners in the pumps. Thanks again and Best Wishes to You, Your Family and Friends.
Thank you for sharing the behind the scene action of a small oil operation. I find this video and your other ones facinating. I could see myself doing this, kinda late now at 69 years old though. Thank you for taking us along!
69 here too. my wife asks why i watch these videos and i tell her i'm studying up for when i start my oil well servicing business. it ain't gonna happen but a boy can dream, can't he?
Zach I took a job as a company man and my first project created was a take over an abandoned swd with cemented in 2 7/8 plastic lined tubing. 20k later we have a disposal and can turn on a 5 bbl day well.
Long story short, Zach ... to add to your message - it takes money to make money - you have a genuine oil business with a whole lot more production than what you might get from the lease in this video ... with skill and a dash of good luck you can make something - maybe, a lot more "something" out of this lease ... looking forward staying up to date on developing this down the road and to see that drilling rig you are refreshing and updating go to work for you! Keep on drilling for that Texas Crude !
Your explanations are quite clear to me. Thanks for another great video. Having worked with SCADA associated with Light Rail myself, I am looking forward to more of your SCADA videos.
Thanks for sharing this. I worked offshore and on workover rig and I loved the work although it was hard work. I’m an electrician by trade learned from my dad originally but I still love the oil patch. Had lots of fun but the cold rain sucked 😂😂
Thanks for the video!! Plugging wells and rusty drill pipe are the most depressing site for driller and oilmen but environmentalists can’t understand it !!Driving back for the last time to the lay down yard it tuff for a true oil hand ! Thanks for reworking these well and showing people you can rework wells !!!
When a businessman says theirs no money in this or that, there’s usually a ton to be made, so I’m going out and getting me a half dozen wells sitting back and raking it in 😒
Outstanding presentation, Zach. I’ve worked around these types of leases and have friends who own them. It’s like any other business; it’s a long-term commitment. Occasionally, you’ll get that one that exceeds expectations. Thanks again!
Kinda awesome, I just did something similar to this in north Dakota, almost the same process, just a little bit different because of the formation being so much deeper.. keep up the great videos!
That ain't just advice for the oil field, it's advice for life. You can apply what you just said to anything you wish to one day have. Excellent video Zach.
Thank you for sharing your hard work! Sometimes it’s hard to sense the value of all the sweat and blood as working men that we put into the earth we live upon… but the wisdom you are sharing with humanity is the true treasure.
Thanks. I thoroughly enjoy you educating me on what you do and how you do it. As they say, “ the devil is in the details” and you certainly provide the details.
Thank you for all the videos you put up. I found your channel during your RV build. I’ve always been interested in the oil fields. As a truck driver I now haul crude oil in Utah, watching these videos helps me understand some of the stuff going on out here.Thank you
Very good video. I grew up in old oil field. This losing money on oil wells happened quite often where I grew up. However, a few became well off. This very situation may be facing the small oil company that owns the lease on our Oklahoma property. The property has two oil wells on it that were drilled in the 1980s. One has been shut off for several years now. The pump jack is still sitting there with the motor and other parts missing. Until a couple of months ago, there was an underground pump producing about 5 barrels per day on the other well. Now that has stopped. I have not heard, but am wondering if something broke, making the well more expensive to fix than the production is worth. The depth of production is between 4000 and 8000 feet in the wells, so the fix could be expensive. There is also a disposal well on the property. It is operated by a different oil company and I have no indications that anything is amiss with it.
Love the honesty of these videos, it seems that the oil and gas industry is one big gamble and that at any point you're just one problem away from losing it all moneywise. Hard business to be in at the owner/operator level.
great video Zach , its great to get a truthful insight into things especially when you explain it well and include all the bits and not gloss over the bad bits hope that kinda makes some sense
Fantastic video Zach , i can see how that drill rig would pay for itself very quickly , i was surprised at the electricity cost so i can see why an oil engine woukd be a good option
A new lease, sort of like standing by a wall and beating your head against the wall, wondering why you got into it in the first place, and finally, all things come together, and you tell yourself you're not stupid
Thats how it is in oilfield sometimes unfortunately. i mean i have background of oilfield i grew up around it and guy either worked oilfield or stayed home and done nothing lol. first job was wrenching rods at 12 hr which back when i started that was alot. i have since stayed away from oilfield but sure takes me home to southern oklahoma. i enjoy the videos not many like this on old youtube here like this. infact i dont of any
ihope it turns arounfd though i hate be all political and s**t but maybe trump will get our oilfield back like it was back then. one can only hope. be safe out there zach see you on next one
Would it be cheaper to pay someone else to dispose of the water? Or do you need that water back in the ground to move the oil towards the other wells? Great video again. Thanks for making them.
The price of oil will start keeping up with inflation. Especially as the US dollar collapses, so your investment will pay off, and more people need to get into it to keep it a viable and worthwhile business. Our biggest problem in New York and Pennsylvania is the environmental activists and regulators. We would love to have injection wells here but it’s such an uphill battle that operators usually give up. Your videos are very interesting!
The risk you describe is what every business experiences. Employees do not take the risk the business owner does and they cannot understand, when the owner guesses correctly and starts to make money, because somehow they think they deserved some of what the owner risked without taking any of that risk themselves.
Skimming a little off the top for maintenance time, a net zero cash flow and future potential. Sounds like business, keep the flow at least and, hey there’s always another one out there to take it off your hands, especially with it producing.
Swab, pressurize the well while adding sand, re-swab and give it time. Don't go shallow go deeper, way deeper. How much do I know, not much but just an idea 🤔 😅 😊😊😊😊😊
Sounds to me like this gambol could favor you...especially with modern Tech...Sounds like the 2 "deep" wells & the vast (?) enexplored area could show well & maybe make the gambol pay off Big !! Then again maybe I sound like a sucker?? As usual I will follow your progress...Keep up the good work!
I really enjoy your videos Zach, Its been a few years for me since I was working in the oil patch in North Western Pennsylvania I really do miss servicing wells there's not much shallow stuff going on these days so I really enjoy watching your videos. Also I was curious what drawworks your running on your double pull rig.
Up here in Minnesota we don't have to go that deep but I'm only after thermal properties for geothermal and good water. Can you make a video or cut scene of your grouters or cement pumps?
Don't forget about swabbing, I've come across many wells on the internet, and swabbing is one of the requirements for the operation of the well. I know that sand is used to open or keep open perforation so the oil will flow, but the sand has to be added under high pressure so it will be forced and enter the perforation s of the well. It is however possible the sand will work its way into the perforation but it has to work for a while and be under pressure ..😊😊😊
Well done... Like with any investment, many people want a quick buck, but stable success tends to be a long term thing. All the pundits talk about largely BS. The old adage of "Slow and steady wins the race" - a lot of truth. Yes, you can get lucky and win big, but running the math, it is extremely rare. When someone does, it is an opportunity for pundits to crow. Reality is different. It requires a lot of hard work, consistency and discipline. A good read is by an an author, Thomas J. Stanley, "The millionaire Next Door". While I stand on my somewhat broken apple crate and pontificate, so many people establish what I call a money pipeline and assume a lavish lifestyle or business model where it appears they are doing well. It usually involves a high level of debt. If that pipeline is interrupted, and it will happen, everything falls apart and they find themselves upside down. (Pipeline ties into oil, right? I am so damn clever...😀). Preaching to the choir as watching your videos for some time now, you are a good businessman. Best from North Alabama...
Sand and pressure and gravity. Sand sould fall into place, re-preessurize the system, hopefully the pressure will hold past a 24 hour period or more, let it stay at pressure with sand in it and hopefully the sand will go into the perforation and keep them open. Oh and have you tested the water yet, is there any lithium detected???😊😊😊😊😊😊
not a crazybad return on investment but i can see everything has to work right. i cant plunk down 50k on a cd and get near that but of course a cd doesnt have moving parts. can you alone claim up to 70% intangible drilling costs the first year then schedule the other 30% over 7 ?
We drill water wells out here in Wyoming and it really sucks when you're 600 ft deep and you blow out the formation and end up dumping 5000 barrels of drill mud in about 5 minutes and no matter what you do or how much bentonite you dump down the hole you can't get it to seal off😂😂
I canr even get a .24acre lot that can't be used for anything and is surrounded by land that under contracts thats not only will out live me but prevent anything to be come of the land for $5k
I'm guessing your using a smaller aggregate than would be in standard " ready mix concrete " for better flow ability. Seems like it would need much smaller aggregate to flow and seal between pipes.

I understand you completely, course I am a drilling engineer did it for 45 years. Running a lease for a while cured me of that

You need one of those big boom trucks for vertical integration. The bigger the better.
Great video. Thanks for all of the explnations. It really helps us "no oil" people understand the workings on a oil lease.

Great job explaining to us folks Thank you Zach!!! #GoedWerk #NL
A wireline was used as the prop in the movie Waterworld when the Mariner took the diving bell to the bottom.
I knew that thing looked vaguely familiar...
Interesting! That is a great movie.
That's good information, Zach. Really puts it all in perspective.
Kinda awesome, I just did something similar to this in north Dakota, almost the same process, just a little bit different because of the formation being so much deeper.. keep up the great videos!
Great job on the explanation

Awesome video, I watch em all!
Just don't forget we all love what you do, don't give up. 😊😊 I'm sure things don't work out the way you or I would want but don't give up 😊😊😊😊❤❤❤😊😊😊😊

Enjoy your videos a lot. The shirt made me laugh.
Keep up the hard work!

great video Zach , its great to get a truthful insight into things especially when you explain it well and include all the bits and not gloss over the bad bits hope that kinda makes some sense
It’s simple, it’s persistence and work !
Thanks for sharing your work. I like learning, and this stuff used to be back magic!
Have a great day !
Sometimes a bad idea can have a brighter side to it 😊😊😊 don't give up on trying to make it more successful 😊😊😊😊😊

Welcome to the struggle, as a sparky in with a business in the segment I feel the struggle of sending invoices for motors and other items. 😁
Great video. Really enjoying the updates. Keep up the good work. Let me know if you ever want a wireline bid.
Zack you nailed the point home on anything cheap. Gotta pay to play
Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. They are interesting to watch.

I think the main purpose is to be able to handle the water from future production when he reworks old wells with his rig.
It's salt water, it's got to go back into the well to keep the pressure up to continue pumping. Otherwise, the wells will dry up.
Excellent information and an excellent video 👍
Thanks Zach Great information

That was pretty much straight up...👍👍
You dun good .,,thanks for the intel , and a wild card is the price of oil . Could be a game changer if you over extend.
Thanks for thought's
Up here in Minnesota we don't have to go that deep but I'm only after thermal properties for geothermal and good water.
Can you make a video or cut scene of your grouters or cement pumps?
Great video! Hopefully your investments today will pay tomorrow. So many people want to get rich quick and don't want to put in the work.

I'd sure like to get my hands on an old engine like the one you showed beside the wire line.
Sand and pressure and gravity. not a crazybad return on investment but i can see everything has to work right. i cant plunk down 50k on a cd and get near that but of course a cd doesnt have moving parts.
can you alone claim up to 70% intangible drilling costs the first year then schedule the other 30% over 7 ?
good over view
Good on ya mate .. g'day from OZ
Zack, thanks for your clarity in this oil 🛢 business.
Can you acid or some other type of refurb on the remaining wells to get them to produce or is everything just played out?
We drill water wells out here in Wyoming and it really sucks when you're 600 ft deep and you blow out the formation and end up dumping 5000 barrels of drill mud in about 5 minutes and no matter what you do or how much bentonite you dump down the hole you can't get it to seal off😂😂
Positive waves. +x
P.s. check the water for lithium... if yes then you are in another ball game, lol 😆 😂 best luck to you 😊😊😊
Lowe's oil field supply, sand and kitty litter.
You should do some EOR work . It can get that last 30% thats stuck down the hole
Very interesting.
fascinating....
Hell yeah!!!!
No aggregate, it's cement, not concrete
sounds like boats , the most expensive boat is a free one
Hope it works out ok for you in the end
I know nothing about wells. When you ran the inner pipe/tube inside the 5 inch, and pumped the cement back up between them, how is the inner tube kept centered?
I'm assuming the inner pipe should not touch the outer wall, as that would mean no cement in that region.
Anyway, enjoying the videos!
