Regardless of your opinion on this album or Arca in general. Arca is hands down one of most influential artists this generation nonbinary or not. Working with Kanye to Björk is not something just anyone can say.

You need to be original in order to be influential. Most of Arca's music is mediocre at best and almost everything was done before already. If she worked with someone doesn't mean it left much influence.

She and her work has molded Kanye's Bjork's FKA Twig's and Frank Ocean's work. I was about to reference his Mutant review as a positive one because I genuinely thought he reviewed it much higher than he did. He didn't and that confuses the fuck out of me; that's one of my favorite albums period.

It would 100% be an amazing album, I have a feeling they did a few songs together & Sophie has a song on her new album with arca on it. I just can’t see them only doing one song because the production they both do are so unique I mean an arca x Sophie album/mixtape/EP would be probably the best thing to come out for any producer & I could see shygirl on some tracks because she’s on a bunch of Sophie songs & I know she did some more with arca.
Riquiquí's ending is one of the best things on the album. The sound design in there, the textures, her vocals... everything is mindblowing.

"Calor" is so beautiful, so genuine. You can feel the love she feels for her partner through it. Definitely one of my favourites, surprised you didnt mention it!

I really liked Machote, even though it does kinda trail off, the sound design is gorgeous, Arca's rapping is intoxicating, and the strange, pitched up vocals works really well with the more spacey instrumental. I enjoyed the project though and the balance between bangers and more low key moments.

Creo que hay un tema cultural grande acá, los gringos son aún muy ajenos en su mayoría a escuchar regueton o música en español en general. La última canción del disco es preciosa y me emociona un montón por su componente lírico.

I think this is the best Arca record so far. It is definitely the most exciting and I love the direction. I agree with you that there are some tracks that don’t stand out as much but Machote is a beauty and one of my favourite on here. No Queda Nada is my stand out track on this album. I find it absolutely beautiful and it is the track I go back to most.
yo melon I totally agree with you on some points but I had a different feeling over Machote - easily the best one of the album for me
even though half of the lyrics are an interpolation of "Quiero Una Chica" by Latin Dreams, Arca expressed a whole different feeling that I really interpreted as the lonely of being a trans woman. I have a lot of trans/nonbinary friends that is always having issues on relationships with people being so fucking rude over their identity and I think Arca added this heavy feeling of searching for someone that really accepts you as who you are, and it's for that reason that Machote is my favorite track of KiCk i ♥️😭

I don't usually hear this kind of music, but I have to pinpoint that you didn't understand the feeling and the amazingness of MACHOTE. It's a sample/cover of "Quiero una chica" by Latin Dreams (A reggaetton classic from early 2000s, although here in Argentina it's was the cumbia version by 'Escucha' that become a hit) AND IT'S EXTRAORDINARY.
"Afterwards" is not in the fav tracks? That song made me love the album.
This album is a solid 9/10 in my book. Stretch 1&w2 and Xen are still 10/10 in my eyes.

Machote is (in part) a cover of "quiero una chica" by Latin Dreams. Arca changed the female pronoun of the lyrics for a male one. Instead of singing "i want a girl" she sings "i want a machote" im not gonna translate machote i mean cmon. After reading kick i wikipedia, pitchfork review and now this, i really wonder seriously none realised this or is it like unworthy of mentioning or what happens haha idk
This album made me realize being a great producer does not always mean you are a great artist (at least not solo). I don't think Arca was meant to be a solo artist. Still very talented but yeah, 7/10 at best for me.
