Loki isn't a monster. He's misunderstood, very misunderstood. He was raised in a false life, he was raised to hate the very people that he is; the frost giants. He was always in Thor's shadow, no matter what he did, he was always in Thor's shadow. He just wanted to be seen as equal. He was always mistreated by everyone. Whatever he did wasn't good enough for anyone. Yeah he did bad things but wouldn't you if you lived his life? He's so broken and damaged by the people he thought were his family. He thinks what he was doing was for the best, even though it isn't. He hit rock bottom. He cracked and became what he was made out to be. Loki isn't a monster, just a poor damaged, lonely broken misunderstood soul who seeks to be seen as equal. No one trusts him, they all think bad of him. He lived a terrible life and he went down a dark path because of it.

Even though she wasn't his mother, she was the only one that really acted like Loki was actually part of their family and not just some adopted child. He means well in his eyes. He needs a redemption even though in Thor 2 he kinda had one but not really. If we lived his life, we would of done the same exact thing
well,what we should know is that he is a frost giant.Frost giants were actually considered the dark side.So,Loki dark side cannot be taken away,cause it is in his gene from his ancestors,but he is raised as an asgardian,lived as an asgardian.Whenever he introduce himself,he tells that he is from asgard.But at some point his dark side comes along when it comes to his anger,he tried to prove he is a worthy son,but along his anger there is some darkness in him.He is definitely misunderstood in some way,but the fact he has a dark side cannot be forgotten.He is unpredictable.Even though if he gets all what he want,we never know what is his next plan,coz he is unpredictable.But this made him very interesting.He is one of the most interesting character in the MCU.
Tetea Ori This isn't true though. History is written by the victors, and no one entire race is inherently evil. Frost Giant does not equal Dark Side. This is a case of ingrained racism, internal racism, and the Asgardians making the Jotnar (Frost Giants) into their version of the boogeyman, even while many know nothing of their civilization. So yes, what if they look different? They're all an alien race. Their homeland is a wasteland only because Odin took the Casket of Ancient Winters, which was essentially the spirit of their land. We don't know the reason for many of their actions, and we cannot label as them as such due to this. Odin himself is a warmonger, and his father Bor destroyed an entire civilization and yet was hailed for it. That's monstrous. History is written by the victors. Just... The Frost Giants and Loki's heritage do not equal where the darkness comes from. The darkness was bred from cruel neglect, never being understood, and being lied to in more ways than one - this is what broke him. Not his origins themselves, but the lies surrounding it, and what he was bred to believe.
Of course! I mean what kind of person in their right mind tells their son that his birthright was to DIE? And don't even get me started on everything ELSE Odin has done wrong.
Why don't they realise? Loki isn't evil he just lost the one person who truly cared about him. He's unwanted and unloved, but most of all he is lonely. He misses his mother and feels that no one else will ever care for him. He needs a friend.
+DragonMasterHero X I hate it how this Loki is compared to other incarnations/adaptations of the character--he is NOTHING like comic-book Loki, just inspired by him. Tom brought such depth to Loki's character. You are right! He is not truly evil--he is more of an anti-hero. And I do believe that Loki and Thor will end up being wholly reconciled by the end (I hope and pray!) but I also pray that Odin can reconcile with Loki; he was never a very understanding or forgiving father, and I hope he sees the light and extends some compassion to his son who only ever wanted to be loved and approved all his life.

Hehehe! You're welcome! And yes...you are so right! Tom has repeatedly said that Loki is misunderstood. Sure, he has committed heinous crimes (haven't we all?) but he won't be able to fix himself until he can love himself. And the only way to love yourself is if you feel loved, and forgiven. He is stuck in feelings of unworthiness. So until Thor, or Odin, show him that he IS worthy, and cared for...he will be stuck in his rut of shame and grief. :( A great, wonderful deleted scene that recently got released, is Loki's "coronation" dream/illusion...it shows that from the beginning, and even at his lowest...one of his deepest cravings is to feel accepted and praised as a hero. If you haven't seen it yet, it's on youtube! Just search "Loki's coronation." There is no hint in this scene that he desires subjugation by force, or any destruction. He simply wants to be admired as his father and brother were admired. He is so deprived of esteem, that he fabricates ILLUSIONS in the privacy of his cell, just to play out his daydreams. :( It's really quite sad. So I hope, in the end, that Loki can find peace, and reconciliation, and self-esteem! I hope and pray for this almost as fervently as I hope and pray for the well-being and soul-redemption of my loved ones in real life. :P
Exactly! Thor has been thoughtless in the past, too preoccupied with adventures and feasts, but he does love Loki more than anything. It's just that after finding out his heritage, Loki became convinced that he is a monster, that no one can love, so in his mind 'Thor is either lying or still hasn't understood the truth. On that note: WHY IN THE NAME OF ALL NINE REALMS DID ODIN TELL LOKI AND THOR STORIES OF WHAT HEARTLESS MONSTERS FROST GIANTS ARE!? He says he wanted Loki to take the throne of Jotunheim someday, so he always intended for him to find out the truth at some point, so how did he think Loki would react to the knowledge that he is one of the "horrifying monsters" he has been hearing about all his life? It makes no sense!

I'm sorry, but Loki is the true ruler of Asgard. Thor was proven unworthy in more ways than one, but of course, like every favored child, he was given a second chance. Loki, however.
Thor would have declared war to everything that angered him, like a kid, but he was given another chance and Loki wasn't even considered as the King, even if his leadership was better, his mind more mature and his heart without that burning anger, arrogance and hurt. But as we know, Odin was a *bit* stupid... ._.

But yes, with his background, and then with the pitch-black evil and horrors he encountered between "Thor" and "Avengers," and being used by Thanos, it's hard not to side with him completely! He needs to learn how to trust and forgive. I hope they complete his redemption in Thor 3 and beyond. He is Thor's BROTHER. They can't toss him aside as if he's just another cackling villain. He must land in a happy place for THOR to be happy. Why can't people understand that?
Loki is no monster! He risks his own life twice to save Jane's life ! He saves his mother's life also (before he was put in that jail). He cares about Thor, he fights with him side by side against the dark elves. He is devastated by his mother's death. Even Thor admits that Loki understands some things better than him (remember "The dark world"'s ending?). Perhaps Loki took advantage of that situation, yes, but let's not forget also Thor no longer wanted to be king of Asgard!

And if you investigate on how the Dark World's ending was actually changed in post-production, you'll come to find that Loki's death was 100% genuine, and that only after SD comic con 2013 did they realize Loki was too popular to kill off, so they tacked on the scenes of Loki coming back to life, and they have yet to explain what actually happened. He couldn't have used an illusion to fake his death (illusions dissipate when touched) so his death must've been sincere, and he was revived by Hela, Thanos, or himself on accident.
Dana Cristina Popescu Well, with two infinity stones left to be revealed, I'm sure either the Soul or the Time gem could've been used to revive Loki. And my personal theory is that Hela will be equated to "Mistress Death" from the comics, who is Thanos' love interest, so that will likely be Loki's connection to Hela, and she and Thanos might be vying for Loki's soul in the next couple of films. Who knows? Or he made a deal with Hela to give him more time, to stop Thanos. Who knows. :P
Okay so I watched Thor, Avengers and Thor 2 last week with a friend (we wanted to be prepared for AoU...) and we noticed that Loki in Avengers is so much different than Loki of the first Thor movie. In the first Thor movie you really can feel his heartbreak. You feel sorry for him, you see him at a little poor boy who just wants love. And that's actually his character in Thor, I think. He said that he never wanted to be king, just wanted to be Thor's equal. Okay, it's the trickster god speaking, but I think in this moment he said the truth. If he really wanted the throne, he just had to let Laufey kill Odin (what he interrupted to kill Laufey). In the deleted scenes whe see that he was made a legit king (Odin was "asleep" and Thor was banished). No, he killed Laufey, because that was the plan. It was his plan to kill/defeat the Frost Giants to make Odin proud. And when Thor came back, he just wanted to get him out of the way, so his plan would succeed. What was his plan in the first place? - Killing the Frost Giants, Odin's "nemesises". But he failed. He knew he failed when he was nearly falling of the bridge, when he talked to Odin and odin said "No". Like it was the answer to the queston "Are you proud of me?". In desperation, maybe the thought that he didn't want to live such a "loveless" life anymore, Loki let himself fall off the bridge (could be seen as suicide). Because nobody seemed to know that he could survive the fall (Thor said that they all mourn for Loki; they all thought he was dead). But he did. Thanos took/saved him. And whatever he did to Loki (many people say that they acutally tortured Loki), Loki knew he had survived. And he didn't want to keep a life he had before. He saw this as second chance, as possibility so change everything. This time, he didn't want to be the unloved little brother, ignored by his father. This time, he wanted to be number 1. He wanted to be king, to be as good or even better then Thor. This "new life" should be different than his last. Also, maybe he wanted his revenge. He wanted to prove Odin wrong, that Loki was indeed strong and powerful. Of course, this is just a headcanon my friend and I had in our minds. But I love to think this way. Hopefully we'll see a lot more of Loki. Too bad he wasn't in AoU
Lee Kasa Yes. I think you hit the nail on the head! Tom Hiddleston himself says that Loki in Thor 1 is the "lost soul" or the "fallen prince." And that in Avengers he's the "villain," and in Thor 2 he's the "anti-hero."
But after the first, Loki realised that even if he shows his sadnes or not, nobody cares so, he hide it (it also can be after the meeting with citaurus, he was probably convinced or totured, but he have a great alter ego, so he didn`t show this and nobody knows and he hide that he was forced - also blackmsiled with Frigga - with ``It is my birthright`` and when he asks Frigga ``Have I made you proud?`` he makes referene at that bur she doesn`t understand and when she dies he realised that his sacrifice didn`t matter for anybody and decides to revenge). this is just my opinion
prepare for a rant people... first of all, Loki is my favorite character of all in marvel. second, Loki is EXTREMELY misunderstood,all he ever wanted was for him to be Thor's equal, but instead of that,he was always in Thor's shadow and no matter what he did, no matter what he said, it was never good enough for anyone to acknowledge.he was lied to, underestimated, always in someone else's shadow and just downright ignored. in every movie that has Loki and Odin, it seems like Odin doesn't care about Loki and what he does. odin won't acknowledge that Loki has done something unless it was something bad. all of this led him to be really bitter towards Thor and the Asgardians. so to be acknowledged, he went to seek someone else's attention. also in the video, Odin said "your birthright was to DIE!!!" it probably made Loki upset to know that his father admits that to him. third, WHO IS CUTTING THE ONIONS?!?!?! Edit: I also believe that almost the entirety of the marvel movies would never had happened if Odin wasn't such an asshole to Loki.
Imagine if Odin wasn’t such a bad father, Hela, Thor, and Loki would be unstoppable. Loki would have known he was a frost giant, and his mother would have been able to help him accept it (she tried to in Thor, but he was too old at that point). Thor would have a better understanding of his abilities, and Hela wouldn’t have tried to destroy Asgard. In conclusion, Thor 1, 2, and 3 would never have happened or have been very different, along with The Avengers 1,2,3,4. Tony Stark probably wouldn’t have an anxiety disorder (PTSD?), and The Vulture and Mysterio may not have existed or been good.

I seriously love Loki from the first time i saw him. Pure savage... Then when i started playing smite i saw his Character which made me love him even more... Loki. Simply the best guy there is. His only problem is that, he lacks love and attention sadly. :/
I feel like Loki isn't a criminal and he's just the same as us. He's been treated wrong and he just wanted to prove himself better than the others, but being the best doesn't always turn out right and that's why he's now here. I swear that this video had me crying. Loki looks so innocent, so young at the beginning. Non-one in the MCU sees that Loki is just a young man who has been manipulated, neglected and misused. He never wanted the throne, he only EVER wished for his father's approval, recognition, something. And there is the most important part that i feel. Loki let go. Loki attempted suicide because he knew what he had done and he knew that nothing would save him. So he gave up. But then he was pushed into Thanos. He was forced and manipulated against his will, already in a vulnerable state after thinking that he would die. Loki is such a deep character that I simply ADORE and this song portrays him so well

i feel like growing up loki was dealt with in the wrong way. (feeling neglect, abandonment, different, lack of compassion and love, alienation...etc) made him who he was today and him lashing out was a way to get attention and he thought it was the only way to get what he wanted (which i think really was get the attention of the family, to feel truly apart of it.) and i feel so much pain for him. all he wanted was a family, or even just to feel belonging.
Whoa guys... all Loki really wanted was love and acceptance and a family who cared, but when that proved out of reach he ended up getting mixed up with Thanos and the battle of New York and stuff. Think about it, for Loki rebelling against his adoptive father who's also the enthroned leader with perhaps the most political clout in the entire 9 realms, surviving torture by and enslavement to the universe's ultimate "mob boss," attempting to take over an entire PLANET, and everything else WAS EASIER THAN FINDING A LOVING FAMILY ENVIRONMENT. All of that was Plan B, or perhaps C, D, E, F.... Literally EVERYTHING we have seen of Loki in this context was what happened after he realized his dream of love and a family wasn't happening. Flip it around; having love and a family is more important to him than being a king, than ruling anything of importance, than being "known," all of that meant less to him than what was denied to him. Loki's one of the only villain with no malicious intent. He just wants to be seen as a normal person/ an equal, but when he realized it's probably impossible, it's like everything he has built all his life was worthless. And then Thanos happened, and things started getting worse, until he accepted his fate and decides to become evil, since that's the best he could do and enjoys himself. Then Odin dies, saying that Loki was his son. He realizes that his brother, Thor, was suffering too, and that he could really be the good guy. That's why he saved Thor in infinity war.

This is so well done. When I watch this I want to cry. This version of the song is so much better than the original. Who ever did this is brilliant, I especially like how he mixed the three movies, but still did the journey by starting in the first and moving on to the third. Ever since I first watched Thor and the Avengers I LOVED Loki so much. More than any other character apart from Frigga. I liked her a lot too as she was the main one who treated him respectfully and with love like a true mother. Anyway, I saw the pain he is clearly going through. I mean, he was kept in a cell and kept from Frigga, his mother when she died and during her funeral.. He is treated unfairly because of who he is.. He was lied to about his past and true family being the Frost Giant's.. Loki deep down has the sweetest and kindest heart.. Its just hard for him to show it because of what he goes through but no matter what I love Loki for who he is and for being strong with everything that has happened in his life. He is the true King of Asgard after Odin in my eyes.

I'm fairly sure I may have broken my replay button. On another note, Loki is definitely my favorite character ever. Even in mythology, think of all the things done to him. Hasn't Asgard heard about self-fulfilling prophecies? They cannot change fate, so instead they just go "oooh I know the perfect solution; let's *give* him a reason to hate us! Good idea!" Because I am completely certain that enslaving one of his children, riding the other one into battle, etc etc, and don't forget that in mythology, Loki is bound by the entrails of his children. I'm sure that's really made him love Asgard. And this version of Loki...look at him. *dangling above the void, desperately trying to get his father to love him and be proud of him* No, Loki. *loki loses hope and falls into the void* Odin: Yeah! Also, we didn't even delve into what Loki endured under the thumb of Thanos!! And speaking of, how has no one else found it curious that Loki's plan had so many holes in it? I'm not even going to count the blue eyes theory, since that could just be the light... But his plan. Do they really expect Loki himself to come up with such a terrible plan? I feel like this plan was bad on purpose. There's a few theories around that Loki did this to make sure the Avengers were a team, and able to actually defend earth, and I think I believe that one. I have been watching wayyyy to many Loki edits. And this song fits so perfectly. He is just trying to fit in, he wants to feel loved and equal. But this causes him to do somethings he later may not agree with. He is so broken and it makes me cry watching this edit. How misunderstood he is, I just wish I could pop in to the screen and tell him that he is loved and that people do care for him.
Can we just pay attention to the start of the video? How Odin would have killed Loki if not for Frigga? After they all thought he was dead? Odin doesn't give a dam for Loki.
He isn't a monster, he is a misunderstood child of Laufey who wanted to fit in with Agardians. But after learning that he was an ice giant he got mad and had beef with Odin and Thor.

Loki is like The Boy Who Cried Wolf if anybody knows that story, he made a few mistakes because of his abusive childhood and then in his hours of need he was abandoned and made to believe he was truly a monster.

The part at 3:23 really hits me hard, because, while he's trying to keep up his sly outward appearance, you can tell he's trying very hard to keep from crying. All I can say is, after Infinity War, I really hope he gets a chance to further redeem himself.
I don't understand why so many people hate/dislike Loki. Just because he's a 'bad guy'?! There's no such THING as a bad guy. There's just different points of view... My heart was torn into pieces as I watched this. Always being in second place isn't fun...

When I first started feeling empathy for Loki, I never imagined I might become the scapegoat/black sheep of my family, but when it happened I was able to take some comfort in the fact that Loki-my favorite “superhero”-gets it, and has survived a lot of emotional pain without breaking. He’s strong in his vulnerability, and even though he’s done some terrible things, you can see where it all comes from and can at least relate to his conflict. Thanks for your comment!
Hawk Pants They are. I’d say (as Tom Hiddleston puts it) that Loki plays the part of antagonist/“villain” at the end of the first Thor and in Avengers. But then he goes through a journey of being more of an anti-hero. He comes full circle and in the end he’s gonna be Thor’s brother and ally again-a “good guy” but it was never that simple. He is LOKI god of Mischief.
Am I the only one that thinks about his death in Infinity War when Odin says 'Your birthright was to die'? When I first saw him die in IW Odin's words slammed right into my brain like a rollercoaster.... Loki didn't deserve to die in such a pathetic way,he is SO powerful in the comics and in real mythology,it breaks my heart to see how the MCU stole that from him,because they knew that if they gave us comic Loki he would had turned out to be more cherished than the heroes by the audience.

Oh, hold up! YES. There is absolutely no question in my mind that Loki loves all three of them: Odin, Frigga and Thor. With Odin and Thor, he's still holding onto resentment and bitterness but it is because he LOVES them so much that it HURTS when, say, Odin imprisoned Loki, or admitted that he had plans for Loki to rule Jotunheim at one point, etc. Or when jealousy for Thor's abilities can battle with Loki's fondness of him. Basically, Loki isn't hiding his true feelings for them. He is being very expressive of his MIXED feelings for them. Because he has gone through a lot these last several years of his life: learning of his heritage which caused him a deterioration of his reality; falling into the void and meeting Thanos and all the horrors there of (very, very likely) being tortured at his hand; and then imprisonment and being forgotten by those who claimed to love you; and lastly the death of Frigga. Thor 2 showed Loki at an all-time low. But notice that after he hit that low, there was no place for him to go, but up. He never denied the familial status of Thor or even Odin ("I didn't do it for him [our father]"). It is because when he let his bitterness outweigh his love for Frigga--who has been the kindest and most understanding of all three through Loki's upheaval--that he denied her as his mother, and that is the single thing he will most regret, for the rest of his life. That those were the last words he spoke to her! This shows the consequences, then, of his unforgiveness. So after he is let out of prison, he swiftly deals with that resentment as best as he can, especially in relation to Thor. He does NOT betray Thor. He gives HIS LIFE for him. So I honestly think that all that jealous rage towards Thor is actually past. Loki's not seeking revenge. He's actually trying not to let Frigga, or any of them down. I think one of the greatest parts of Loki's character arc in Thor 2 is during the skiff scene (when he and Thor argue), when he realizes that he wants, more than anything, to regain Thor's trust. It cuts him deeply that he lost that trust, with Thor. And he'll do his best to regain that. Because Thor is all he has left--he lost Frigga, and he knows that he let her down before she passed away. Now, he can't make the same mistakes as he did before. He's finally started to let go of some of that resentment, and made room for what was there before: love.
He's immensely loveable. Brave, beautiful and broken. I'm just not sure if I want to save him, or send him and an alien army around to my sister's house........ Iol...... Secretly we all have significant sibling rivalry issues. He allows us to play out that fantasy in his psychological landscape. You know. 2 years ago, no, 3, I was obsessed with this video. With Loki too. Everything about it I loved. I must have watched it about 100 times, possible more. And now, all these years later, moving on from that time in my life, I still love this edit so much. Loki isn't a monster. He's misunderstood, very misunderstood. He was raised in a false life, he was raised to hate the very people that he is; the frost giants. He was always in Thor's shadow, no matter what he did, he was always in Thor's shadow. He just wanted to be seen as equal. He was always mistreated by everyone. Whatever he did wasn't good enough for anyone. Yeah he did bad things but wouldn't you if you lived his life? He's so broken and damaged by the people he thought were his family. He thinks what he was doing was for the best, even though it isn't. He hit rock bottom. He cracked and became what he was made out to be. Loki isn't a monster, just a poor damaged, lonely broken misunderstood soul who seeks to be seen as equal. No one trusts him, they all think bad of him. He lived a terrible life and he went down a dark path because of it.

Tetea Ori This isn't true though. History is written by the victors, and no one entire race is inherently evil. Frost Giant does not equal Dark Side. This is a case of ingrained racism, internal racism, and the Asgardians making the Jotnar (Frost Giants) into their version of the boogeyman, even while many know nothing of their civilization.
So yes, what if they look different? They're all an alien race. Their homeland is a wasteland only because Odin took the Casket of Ancient Winters, which was essentially the spirit of their land. We don't know the reason for many of their actions, and we cannot label as them as such due to this. Odin himself is a warmonger, and his father Bor destroyed an entire civilization and yet was hailed for it. That's monstrous. History is written by the victors.
Just... The Frost Giants and Loki's heritage do not equal where the darkness comes from. The darkness was bred from cruel neglect, never being understood, and being lied to in more ways than one - this is what broke him. Not his origins themselves, but the lies surrounding it, and what he was bred to believe.

Tom brought such depth to Loki's character. You are right! He is not truly evil--he is more of an anti-hero. And I do believe that Loki and Thor will end up being wholly reconciled by the end (I hope and pray!) but I also pray that Odin can reconcile with Loki; he was never a very understanding or forgiving father, and I hope he sees the light and extends some compassion to his son who only ever wanted to be loved and approved all his life.

And yes...you are so right! Tom has repeatedly said that Loki is misunderstood. Sure, he has committed heinous crimes (haven't we all?) but he won't be able to fix himself until he can love himself. And the only way to love yourself is if you feel loved, and forgiven. He is stuck in feelings of unworthiness. So until Thor, or Odin, show him that he IS worthy, and cared for...he will be stuck in his rut of shame and grief. :(
A great, wonderful deleted scene that recently got released, is Loki's "coronation" dream/illusion...it shows that from the beginning, and even at his lowest...one of his deepest cravings is to feel accepted and praised as a hero. If you haven't seen it yet, it's on youtube! Just search "Loki's coronation." There is no hint in this scene that he desires subjugation by force, or any destruction. He simply wants to be admired as his father and brother were admired. He is so deprived of esteem, that he fabricates ILLUSIONS in the privacy of his cell, just to play out his daydreams. :( It's really quite sad. So I hope, in the end, that Loki can find peace, and reconciliation, and self-esteem! I hope and pray for this almost as fervently as I hope and pray for the well-being and soul-redemption of my loved ones in real life. :P

Exactly! Thor has been thoughtless in the past, too preoccupied with adventures and feasts, but he does love Loki more than anything. It's just that after finding out his heritage, Loki became convinced that he is a monster, that no one can love, so in his mind 'Thor is either lying or still hasn't understood the truth.
On that note: WHY IN THE NAME OF ALL NINE REALMS DID ODIN TELL LOKI AND THOR STORIES OF WHAT HEARTLESS MONSTERS FROST GIANTS ARE!? He says he wanted Loki to take the throne of Jotunheim someday, so he always intended for him to find out the truth at some point, so how did he think Loki would react to the knowledge that he is one of the "horrifying monsters" he has been hearing about all his life? It makes no sense!

But yes, with his background, and then with the pitch-black evil and horrors he encountered between "Thor" and "Avengers," and being used by Thanos, it's hard not to side with him completely! Loki is no monster! He risks his own life twice to save Jane's life ! He saves his mother's life also (before he was put in that jail). He cares about Thor, he fights with him side by side against the dark elves. He is devastated by his mother's death. Even Thor admits that Loki understands some things better than him (remember "The dark world"'s ending?). Perhaps Loki took advantage of that situation, yes, but let's not forget also Thor no longer wanted to be king of Asgard!
In complete agreement. And if you investigate on how the Dark World's ending was actually changed in post-production, you'll come to find that Loki's death was 100% genuine, and that only after SD comic con 2013 did they realize Loki was too popular to kill off, so they tacked on the scenes of Loki coming back to life, and they have yet to explain what actually happened. He couldn't have used an illusion to fake his death (illusions dissipate when touched) so his death must've been sincere, and he was revived by Hela, Thanos, or himself on accident.

Well, with two infinity stones left to be revealed, I'm sure either the Soul or the Time gem could've been used to revive Loki. And my personal theory is that Hela will be equated to "Mistress Death" from the comics, who is Thanos' love interest, so that will likely be Loki's connection to Hela, and she and Thanos might be vying for Loki's soul in the next couple of films. Who knows? Or he made a deal with Hela to give him more time, to stop Thanos. Who knows. :P
Okay so I watched Thor, Avengers and Thor 2 last week with a friend (we wanted to be prepared for AoU...) and we noticed that Loki in Avengers is so much different than Loki of the first Thor movie.
In the first Thor movie you really can feel his heartbreak. You feel sorry for him, you see him at a little poor boy who just wants love.
And that's actually his character in Thor, I think. He said that he never wanted to be king, just wanted to be Thor's equal. Okay, it's the trickster god speaking, but I think in this moment he said the truth. If he really wanted the throne, he just had to let Laufey kill Odin (what he interrupted to kill Laufey). In the deleted scenes whe see that he was made a legit king (Odin was "asleep" and Thor was banished).
No, he killed Laufey, because that was the plan. It was his plan to kill/defeat the Frost Giants to make Odin proud. And when Thor came back, he just wanted to get him out of the way, so his plan would succeed. What was his plan in the first place? - Killing the Frost Giants, Odin's "nemesises".
But he failed. He knew he failed when he was nearly falling of the bridge, when he talked to Odin and odin said "No". Like it was the answer to the queston "Are you proud of me?". In desperation, maybe the thought that he didn't want to live such a "loveless" life anymore, Loki let himself fall off the bridge (could be seen as suicide). Because nobody seemed to know that he could survive the fall (Thor said that they all mourn for Loki; they all thought he was dead).
But he did. Thanos took/saved him. And whatever he did to Loki (many people say that they acutally tortured Loki), Loki knew he had survived. And he didn't want to keep a life he had before.
He saw this as second chance, as possibility so change everything. This time, he didn't want to be the unloved little brother, ignored by his father. This time, he wanted to be number 1. He wanted to be king, to be as good or even better then Thor. This "new life" should be different than his last.
Also, maybe he wanted his revenge. He wanted to prove Odin wrong, that Loki was indeed strong and powerful.
Of course, this is just a headcanon my friend and I had in our minds. But I love to think this way.
Hopefully we'll see a lot more of Loki. Too bad he wasn't in AoU

Lee Kasa Yes. I think you hit the nail on the head! Tom Hiddleston himself says that Loki in Thor 1 is the "lost soul" or the "fallen prince." And that in Avengers he's the "villain," and in Thor 2 he's the "anti-hero."
But after the first, Loki realised that even if he shows his sadnes or not, nobody cares so, he hide it (it also can be after the meeting with citaurus, he was probably convinced or totured, but he have a great alter ego, so he didn`t show this and nobody knows and he hide that he was forced - also blackmsiled with Frigga - with ``It is my birthright`` and when he asks Frigga ``Have I made you proud?`` he makes referene at that bur she doesn`t understand and when she dies he realised that his sacrifice didn`t matter for anybody and decides to revenge).

first of all, Loki is my favorite character of all in marvel.
second, Loki is EXTREMELY misunderstood,all he ever wanted was for him to be Thor's equal, but instead of that,he was always in Thor's shadow and no matter what he did, no matter what he said, it was never good enough for anyone to acknowledge.he was lied to, underestimated, always in someone else's shadow and just downright ignored. in every movie that has Loki and Odin, it seems like Odin doesn't care about Loki and what he does. odin won't acknowledge that Loki has done something unless it was something bad. all of this led him to be really bitter towards Thor and the Asgardians. so to be acknowledged, he went to seek someone else's attention. also in the video, Odin said "your birthright was to DIE!!!" it probably made Loki upset to know that his father admits that to him.

Imagine if Odin wasn’t such a bad father, Hela, Thor, and Loki would be unstoppable. Loki would have known he was a frost giant, and his mother would have been able to help him accept it (she tried to in Thor, but he was too old at that point). Thor would have a better understanding of his abilities, and Hela wouldn’t have tried to destroy Asgard. In conclusion, Thor 1, 2, and 3 would never have happened or have been very different, along with The Avengers 1,2,3,4. Tony Stark probably wouldn’t have an anxiety disorder (PTSD?), and The Vulture and Mysterio may not have existed or been good.

I feel like Loki isn't a criminal and he's just the same as us. He's been treated wrong and he just wanted to prove himself better than the others, but being the best doesn't always turn out right and that's why he's now here. He feels lost and alone but he doesn't show it, he covers it with acts of crime

I swear that this video had me crying. Loki looks so innocent, so young at the beginning. Non-one in the MCU sees that Loki is just a young man who has been manipulated, neglected and misused. He never wanted the throne, he only EVER wished for his father's approval, recognition, something.
And there is the most important part that i feel. Loki let go. Loki attempted suicide because he knew what he had done and he knew that nothing would save him. So he gave up. But then he was pushed into Thanos. He was forced and manipulated against his will, already in a vulnerable state after thinking that he would die.
Loki is such a deep character that I simply ADORE and this song portrays him so well

i feel like growing up loki was dealt with in the wrong way. (feeling neglect, abandonment, different, lack of compassion and love, alienation...etc) made him who he was today and him lashing out was a way to get attention and he thought it was the only way to get what he wanted (which i think really was get the attention of the family, to feel truly apart of it.) and i feel so much pain for him. all he wanted was a family, or even just to feel belonging.

Whoa guys... all Loki really wanted was love and acceptance and a family who cared, but when that proved out of reach he ended up getting mixed up with Thanos and the battle of New York and stuff. Think about it, for Loki rebelling against his adoptive father who's also the enthroned leader with perhaps the most political clout in the entire 9 realms, surviving torture by and enslavement to the universe's ultimate "mob boss," attempting to take over an entire PLANET, and everything else WAS EASIER THAN FINDING A LOVING FAMILY ENVIRONMENT. All of that was Plan B, or perhaps C, D, E, F.... Literally EVERYTHING we have seen of Loki in this context was what happened after he realized his dream of love and a family wasn't happening. Flip it around; having love and a family is more important to him than being a king, than ruling anything of importance, than being "known," all of that meant less to him than what was denied to him. Wow, it goes right in the feels :((( all the feels...

He just wants to be seen as a normal person/ an equal, but when he realized it's probably impossible, it's like everything he has built all his life was worthless. And then Thanos happened, and things started getting worse, until he accepted his fate and decides to become evil, since that's the best he could do and enjoys himself. Then Odin dies, saying that Loki was his son. He realizes that his brother, Thor, was suffering too, and that he could really be the good guy. That's why he saved Thor in infinity war.

This is so well done. When I watch this I want to cry. This version of the song is so much better than the original. Who ever did this is brilliant, I especially like how he mixed the three movies, but still did the journey by starting in the first and moving on to the third. I have watched like 20 times and I only I found it four days ago. Loki is so awesome, and Tom Hiddleston does him so wonderfully.

Ever since I first watched Thor and the Avengers I LOVED Loki so much. More than any other character apart from Frigga. I liked her a lot too as she was the main one who treated him respectfully and with love like a true mother. Anyway, I saw the pain he is clearly going through. I mean, he was kept in a cell and kept from Frigga, his mother when she died and during her funeral.. He is treated unfairly because of who he is.. He was lied to about his past and true family being the Frost Giant's.. Loki deep down has the sweetest and kindest heart.. Its just hard for him to show it because of what he goes through but no matter what I love Loki for who he is and for being strong with everything that has happened in his life. He is the true King of Asgard after Odin in my eyes.

Even in mythology, think of all the things done to him. Hasn't Asgard heard about self-fulfilling prophecies? They cannot change fate, so instead they just go "oooh I know the perfect solution; let's *give* him a reason to hate us! Good idea!" Because I am completely certain that enslaving one of his children, riding the other one into battle, etc etc, and don't forget that in mythology, Loki is bound by the entrails of his children. I'm sure that's really made him love Asgard.

Also, we didn't even delve into what Loki endured under the thumb of Thanos!! Poor guy was tortured but no one would believe him, and I'm sure he was threatened with the worst pain imaginable if he opened his mouth. Hope everything gets put right in Ragnarok and Infinity Wars!

I have been watching wayyyy to many Loki edits. And this song fits so perfectly. He is just trying to fit in, he wants to feel loved and equal. But this causes him to do somethings he later may not agree with. He is so broken and it makes me cry watching this edit. How misunderstood he is, I just wish I could pop in to the screen and tell him that he is loved and that people do care for him.

When I first started feeling empathy for Loki, I never imagined I might become the scapegoat/black sheep of my family, but when it happened I was able to take some comfort in the fact that Loki-my favorite “superhero”-gets it, and has survived a lot of emotional pain without breaking. He’s strong in his vulnerability, and even though he’s done some terrible things, you can see where it all comes from and can at least relate to his conflict. Thanks for your comment!

But then he goes through a journey of being more of an anti-hero. He comes full circle and in the end he’s gonna be Thor’s brother and ally again-a “good guy” but it was never that simple. He is LOKI god of Mischief.

I think he cares abut Thor deep down and in his defense I thought Odin was kid of an ass hat to him, just saying

With Odin and Thor, he's still holding onto resentment and bitterness but it is because he LOVES them so much that it HURTS when, say, Odin imprisoned Loki, or admitted that he had plans for Loki to rule Jotunheim at one point, etc. Or when jealousy for Thor's abilities can battle with Loki's fondness of him.
Basically, Loki isn't hiding his true feelings for them. He is being very expressive of his MIXED feelings for them. Because he has gone through a lot these last several years of his life: learning of his heritage which caused him a deterioration of his reality; falling into the void and meeting Thanos and all the horrors there of (very, very likely) being tortured at his hand; and then imprisonment and being forgotten by those who claimed to love you; and lastly the death of Frigga. Thor 2 showed Loki at an all-time low.
But notice that after he hit that low, there was no place for him to go, but up. He never denied the familial status of Thor or even Odin ("I didn't do it for him [our father]"). It is because when he let his bitterness outweigh his love for Frigga--who has been the kindest and most understanding of all three through Loki's upheaval--that he denied her as his mother, and that is the single thing he will most regret, for the rest of his life. That those were the last words he spoke to her! This shows the consequences, then, of his unforgiveness. So after he is let out of prison, he swiftly deals with that resentment as best as he can, especially in relation to Thor. He does NOT betray Thor. He gives HIS LIFE for him.
So I honestly think that all that jealous rage towards Thor is actually past. Loki's not seeking revenge. He's actually trying not to let Frigga, or any of them down. I think one of the greatest parts of Loki's character arc in Thor 2 is during the skiff scene (when he and Thor argue), when he realizes that he wants, more than anything, to regain Thor's trust. It cuts him deeply that he lost that trust, with Thor. And he'll do his best to regain that. Because Thor is all he has left--he lost Frigga, and he knows that he let her down before she passed away. Now, he can't make the same mistakes as he did before. He's finally started to let go of some of that resentment, and made room for what was there before: love.

You know. 2 years ago, no, 3, I was obsessed with this video. With Loki too. Everything about it I loved. I must have watched it about 100 times, possible more. And now, all these years later, moving on from that time in my life, I still love this edit so much. This songs describes me. I was adopted and looked different from my parents, felt pain of not being loved or good enough no matter how hard I try. I've felt ashamed and was abandoned. Always felt like everything was my fault even if it wasn't, I felt like a "monster"!Got to the point where I would lose myself and go crazy, wanting to die.

He hates it, since it dulls it. Poor.
