It may be a soap opera, but it does tell real-life stories. These are: 1)Daisy's stalking in turn, led to an acid attack on Daisy, but Ryan got the whole acid attack. 2)Racist Assault. The racism became worse and Max became radicalized making his own content and defending people with terrible opinions. Early this year another extremist turned up inspired by Max and even though Max tried to stop him Alya was stabbed. 3)Bethany's grooming by Nathan (Rape and Mental abuse by Nathan and his sicko pal's). 4)Domestic abuse by Jeff towards Yasmin. 5) Sexual Assult by Josh towards David. 6)Teenage Pregnancy Sarah. This does happen in every day life.
Have we done EastEnders yet? I have to say, Bex's bullying storyline absolutely totalled me. I experienced something like Bex and seeing no one believe her and how bad it got - excellently done storyline but - god I had to take a break from it. Just a though, if we've already covered The Square, never mind then! Cracking stuff, lads!
Eastenders astonishingly has somewhat improved in spite of its falling ratings still... and no doubt given Corrie and Emmerdales cut down of their specials this year that it will top this years Christmas ratings.
Most of these storylines are incredibly important issues to bring attention to. It’s a shame to know that so many people will turn away and refuse to watch them or straight up complain about them being shown/talked about.
These are soap operas, stop thinking they are more important than they are, lol. Also, maybe more people will be likely to listen to these issues if they are being talked about in an honest way, and not to push some kind of one sided agenda?
@@TheSupaman98 Soaps are a direct route to the brains of millions of people each night. If they show a story about the importance of consent, that's millions of people that are absorbing that message without even realising it. More people absolutely would not listen to the message more if it was said another way. People want to be entertained, they don't want to listen to first-hand accounts of rape survivors. If you stick it into their evening viewing though? Bingo. Like sneaking cauliflower into a kids mashed potato. And these storylines ARE done in an honest way. They can be pretty brutal in their honesty, actually; as evidenced by how many people got up in arms and squeamish.
I watched Coronation Street for more than thirty years. It was a Sunday morning ritual, complete with a wonderful breakfast for me and my dog. (He loved the theme song and watched the cats in the opening credits.) Eventually I got totally bored with everybody sleeping with everybody, characters going to jail, and just plain dumb story lines. I can't remember for sure but I quit watching the show in 2005, so some of the clips I just saw made me really glad that I did give this show a permanent miss.
Could Watch-Mojo UK please do other soap opera moments that made fans quit watching such as EastEnders mid-2000's and beyond, Emmerdale after 2013 and Hollyoaks after 2015?
People who complain to Ofcom really have nothing better to do with their day, huh? What do they want the show to be? Just the cast sitting around complaining about their tea being lukewarm all day?
Ok I know this was a while back but I was surprised not to see the Frankie and Jamie 'relationship' on here Probably one of the most messed up things the show has ever done
Couldn't you do a more uplifting list to do with Corrie (a show with some comedic history - though more grims nowadays)? Something like a 10 Funniest Moments or Characters. There's so much more to talk about than Pat Phelan and that gremlin David Platt.
So Corrie fans are crybabies who can't handle storylines of topics that happen all the time in real life, just because they were a bit too realistic? The topics are very important but instead viewers can't handle it?? Imagine them watching a Tarantino or Kubrick film, i think their head would explode.
Oh gawd - I stopped watching Corrie years ago when it stopped been entertaining and humorous and instead was hijacked by a crop of new producers who decided viewers should be "educated" on extreme social "issues" rather than entertained. The only one of these Corrie moments I remember was Deirdre being jailed and released. I can't be the only former fan who thinks this once iconic TV drama has morphed into an unwatchable travesty.
This isn't Corrie, but I remember when EE did Lily's preteen pregnancy storyline. I was quite shocked by it, but I had to remind myself that girls can get pregnant that young (I mean heck Sarah from Corrie just turned thirteen when she found out she was pregnant with Bethany). Lily deciding to keep the baby caused viewers to become outraged with producers for how they were handling the subject and vast majority agreed that Lily should've terminated the pregnancy considering her age and how high risk it would be. Also, when she and Ricky (the baby's father) threw a gender reveal shower, viewers were furious again and they accused the soap of trying to normalize the issue.
Oh boy... this is gonna be a long one... The fact is Coronation Street for the past year has done storylines that have cut corners on reflecting reality and have failed to balance both positive and negative storylines together in its 6 episode run (or 3 one hour format) yet it'll take something of an Eastenders Baby swap direction to top ofcom complaints given they reached 6000... CCTV seems to be everywhere on the show except in and out of Rovers, yet would of worked into the acid attack plot or Stephens murder... sensative subjects are trivialised into unsatisfactory outcomes that barely reflet reality and only show to be more insulting to viewer intelligence. (Amy's rape for example, in similarly to Emmerdales recent plot on Lydia, turning that into a Cluedo long week of episodes resulting in viewers feeling less sympathy for her) But most recently, the program is devoting too many of its episodes to teen centred storylines in an effort to be like Hollyoaks (which in fairness despite its streaming move, is pretty much on life support) Lucy Fallon returns to playing Bethany in the new year and in a recent interview, wants more bad stuff to happen to her character... the question is, is this what her audience/fans wants? Regardless, the writers will make it happen... so we can expect some recycled formats from the old "Free Derdrie" card to love trianges... kind of makes me relieved somewhat that actresses like Ellie Leach and Mille Gibson have moved on... I mean Gibsons storylines as Kelly were beyond brutal the way they were written after the hate crime plot... yes she got her soap award but left afterwards. She DESERVES her time in the TARDIS hands down... Probably one positive side of the last year is none the storylines will be up for soap awards next year with the ceremony pushed back till 2025... Corrie needs a shake up to be decent again, cut back to half an hour eps (heck it and Emmerdale have lost half an hour from this years Xmas lineup) four eps as appose to six is enough as it is for Eastenders... and more focus needs to put back on families as opposed to just central characters again with some balance... Iain Macleod needs to depart as producer... he was no better than the tripe Kate Oates was bringing to the show soap awards aside, and failed to keep his words on bringing the show back to its older roots... ... And for the love of god... i'll pay the writers anything they want if they would just get rid of DS Swain or at least... write in a decent script where she actually is capable of doing her job of catching murderers and putting proper villians behind weatherfields repeatedly used prison sets... not just unfortunate characters with circumstantial situations... :p Enough said.
It’s funny how most of them are getting complaints nowadays. I think some people are taking it to heart and forgetting it’s a fictional show. People are too sensitive. Ofcom only bends and panders to those who want to be offended.
72 sad people complained about the acid attack, 72.. out of millions that watch the programme. Get a fucking grip! Geez! What do these 72 people want? An apology? Compensation for the “horror movie” they watched?

Yes same really struggled with that storyline

These issues can be trivialised and can result in unsatisfactory resolutions to plots... two storylines on rape from both soaps have done just that...

I love the fact Corrie isn't afraid to push the limits
loving the pfp
Exactly. If every episode was people making each a bru and drinking in the rovers. Nobody would watch.
They have to cater to all kinds of audiences.
thingis, they are nowadays
Not watched Corrie in a while because it is so depressing now.
I think the difference between Eastenders and Coronation Street is in the Street the villains always face some kind of justice!
I'm always so surprised when they actually get long sentences and then it doesn't happen in real life pff.

This video should've been called "Top 10 Most Complained About Coronation Street Moments".
I know a lot find it too depressing and not as good as it used to be but I’ll always stay a loyal viewer
I love Corrie but I had to turn over when Yaz ate her own chicken
Ps sorry for spelling
Ok I know this was a while back but I was surprised not to see the Frankie and Jamie 'relationship' on here
Probably one of the most messed up things the show has ever done
That was a low blow. Heck, producers had earlier decided against a storyline of Tracy and Peter getting together and she becoming knocked up. 🤢
Corrie is so dead on its feet, there is so many pointless characters,it's had its time

Yazmins abuse storyline was just horrible in genral jeff making her eat her pet chicken just made it worse the actors told the story brillantly

Grand theft Auto Coronation street anybody?
Can you make a video on about shameless UK please?
I would be curious to see an Eastenders version
I wanna see an Emmerdale version but Eastenders would be good too
Pat Phelan was class tele

@livesteam125: sadly, DS Swain is now a regular character, instead of a recurring one. She is as silly as ever!
Theres enough momebts for a top 20 let alone a top 10
First? I'm not even British.
I turned off at the Bethney storyline too. very triggering.
shock they don't like sensitive and important worldwide topics and issues being discussed and displayed on screen
There's some very sad people that watch soaps
I wish people wouldn’t cry Ofcom
They’re warned about a new storyline that could upset people yet they still choose to watch it
Load of nonsense
Do one for eastenders
Liam Dylan Mason bullying storyline
It’s funny how most of them are getting complaints nowadays. I think some people are taking it to heart and forgetting it’s a fictional show.
People are too sensitive. Ofcom only bends and panders to those who want to be offended.
*British people are too sensitive. Losing the empire has made them soft.
People should take a step back it’s only a blooming tv programme
I know, people act so stupid
I wish if people would quit complaining to ofcom everytime they don’t like something and switch the channel instead
The word is Karen's... not viewers.
Daisly? Ava Price? Does this pillock even know what he is watching? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
That's what i was thinking
@@assundamcdonagh9477 glad I was not the only one who noticed.
I've always thought the show was stupid and dumb
I stopped watching cause it’s shite

The people that watch these kind of shows are the same people who watch our country get invaded day in day out an do fuck all about it
Have a day off, Tory
