The term "minas samaa" - raised to heavens - was NEVER associated with Essa (as) - from surah Ale Imran ,Surah Al Nisa ,Surah Al Maidah and Surah Maryam. This above event was not even mentioned in the authentic hadiths. Even "bal rafaullah alaih" means Allah raised him to himself " - and NOT "raising to heavens". Raising of Jesus (as) into heavens was only mentioned in the Bible , Luc 24:50 and a few other biblical verses. As a matter of interest, the ascension of Jesus (as) was not even mentioned in the original gospels. The answer of what happened to Essa (as) after crucifixion , which is tantamount to giving shelter after such a calamity , was provided in the Quran when Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala said: وَجَعَلْنَا ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ وَأُمَّهُۥٓ ءَايَةً وَءَاوَيْنٰهُمَآ إِلٰى رَبْوَةٍ ذَاتِ قَرَارٍ وَمَعِينٍ "And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and sheltered them within a high ground having level [areas] and flowing water." (QS. Al-Muminoon 23: Verse 50). As muslims , we know that the Holy Quran is the perfect book ( Al Baqarah ). We must believe in the Quran and NOT in the Bible regarding the doubt caused by "wa lakin shubbiha lahoum " (" but he was made to appear to them like one being crucified " AND NOT "but another was made to ressemble him to them"). This is in complete harmony with 30 verses of the Quran as corroborated by the video clip. Moreover , if we believe in the ascension of Essa (as) as per Luc 24:50 ,we must also believe in the ascension of Elijah (as) as per the Bible ( 2 Kings 2 v 11 and 12). We cannot cherry pick some verses of the bible that suit our ideologies and disregard the other biblical verses. In the same vein, we will have to believe in BOTH 1. the coming back of Elijah as ( as per the beliefs of jews) and 2. the coming back of the SAME Jesus of Nazareth ( as per the beliefs of the christians ). Otherwise, the whole concept of Jesus's ascension into heavens should be disregarded AS the concept of trinity(shirk and associating partners to Allah ) since no mention of either was made in the Quran.
The death of Issa (as) is proven by : 1. Logic - no human being can live more than 2000 years; 2.Scientific evidence - the shroud of Turin ; 3.Historic and empirical evidence : 30 + books and documentaries ,including books of Nicholas Notovitch , Faber Kaiser and Ahmad (as) masterpiece Jesus in India. 4. 30 + verses from the Holy Quran; 5 .Many hadiths ,including Bukhari 3349.
Yes many Sunnis also believe that Jesus (as) has died, but unfortunately reject the coming of a Messiah. Some well known scholars who held this view include Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Allama Iqbal and Syed Ahmad Khan. In the modern day, Ghamidi and his followers hold this belief too
Surah 3 Ali 'Imran, Ayat 61-61 فَمَنۡ حَآجَّكَ فِيۡهِ مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِ مَا جَآءَكَ مِنَ الۡعِلۡمِ فَقُلۡ تَعَالَوۡا نَدۡعُ اَبۡنَآءَنَا وَاَبۡنَآءَكُمۡ وَنِسَآءَنَا وَنِسَآءَكُمۡ وَاَنۡفُسَنَا وَاَنۡفُسَكُمۡ ثُمَّ نَبۡتَهِلۡ فَنَجۡعَل لَّعۡنَتَ اللّٰهِ عَلَى الۡكٰذِبِيۡنَ ﴿3:61﴾ (3:61) Tell whoever disputes with you on this matter after true knowledge has come to you: 'Come! Let us summon our sons and your sons, and our women and your women, and ourselves and yourselves, and then let us pray together and invoke the curse of Allah on those who lie.'
What I never get with these sorts of Sunnis is, some still believe Jesus (as) will return (Allah will resurrect him for this Earth), but do these guys believe the second coming is in the form of someone else or what? ma sha Allah tho, first step is attained.
