The Court Hounds Wild Escape! Created by Merthyr Scouts!
As part of a project with the Wild Escape, we at Cyfarthfa Castle worked with Merthyr Scouts and Light on the Water Video Productions to create a stop motion film, bringing to life a painting from the collection at Cyfarthfa Castle. The Scouts found out about 'The Court Hounds' paintings and how it links to the origins of Cyfarthfa's naming. The Scouts came up with the story and the characters, as well as constructing the sets and figures and recording the sound effects!
The Wild Escape is the largest ever collaboration between the UK’s museums. Supported by Arts Council England, the project aims to inspire hundreds of thousands of children to visit museums and respond creatively to the threat to the UK’s natural environment by looking for animals featured in museum collections and creating their own wildlife artworks. 
The Wild Escape is made possible by lead support from Arts Council England’s National Lottery Project Grants, with additional support from The Federation of Museums and Galleries in Wales, Art Fund and a group of generous individuals and trusts.

Fel rhan o brosiect gyda’r Wild Escape, buom ni yng Nghastell Cyfarthfa yn gweithio gyda Sgowtiaid Merthyr a Light on the Water Video Productions i greu ffilm stop motion, gan ddod â phaentiad o gasgliad Castell Cyfarthfa yn fyw. Daeth y Sgowtiaid i wybod am baentiadau 'The Court Hounds' a sut mae'n cysylltu â tharddiad enw Cyfarthfa. Daeth y Sgowtiaid i fyny gyda’r stori a’r cymeriadau, yn ogystal ag adeiladu’r setiau a’r ffigurau a recordio’r effeithiau sain!
Y Ddihangfa Wyllt yw’r cydweithrediad mwyaf erioed rhwng amgueddfeydd y DU. Nod y prosiect, a gefnogir gan Gyngor Celfyddydau Lloegr, yw ysbrydoli cannoedd o filoedd o blant i ymweld ag amgueddfeydd ac ymateb yn greadigol i'r bygythiad i amgylchedd naturiol y DU drwy chwilio am anifeiliaid sy'n ymddangos yng nghasgliadau'r amgueddfeydd a chreu eu gweithiau celf bywyd gwyllt eu hunain.
Mae Wild Escape yn bosibl oherwydd cymorth arweiniol gan Grantiau Prosiect y Loteri Genedlaethol Cyngor Celfyddydau Lloegr, gyda chymorth ychwanegol gan Ffederasiwn Amgueddfeydd ac Orielau Cymru, y Gronfa Gelf a grŵp o unigolion ac Ymddiriedolaethau hael.
