About Gold Shaw Farm: Gold Shaw Farm is more of a farm-in-progress than an honest-to-goodness farm. We dream that someday we can transform our 150+ acre parcel of land into a regenerative and productive homestead and farm.
That was a love bite from Pablo, also a way to tell you he's done.
Aw! Abby-dog doing those playful circles, when she greeted you! For the first time in a long time, I saw my girl doing those and being playful, this morning. She is almost 18 y/o, mostly blind, half deaf and doesn't have many energetic mornings, anymore. I wish loads of those for you, Toby and Abbie in the future, Morgan!
Many wonderful, energetic, loving and playful moments for you and your pet as well :)
Pablo is the classic three-pat cat. More than that and he'll bite your fingers off! 😸
It's a love bite 😁
Truth!
Ginny is providing mental health assistance by giving funny cat therapy. **Slide the planks off**
Note how in slow motion she realises something is not right and she prepares herself to boost off the falling planks.
Watching Toby tear past headed towards the only correct gate for entering his territory was a treat, as was Abby's gallop up the the high pasture. I enjoyed spending time with all the beasties - especially the kittys - love and strength out to you and family on that topic.
What an enjoyable day on your farm. I miss living in the countryside. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it
Since they are probably quiet at night, I would find the goose noise kinda neat if I had a small far with a few dozen animals in close proximity. However, I enjoyed the sound of mooing cattle when I lived near those animals. Some people don't want any animal noises.
I’ll take animal noises over traffic noise any day.
I`m the one who's bummed out today. It was nice and comforting to listen. Thanks for checking in Morgan!💙
Any time!
I love the emotional support from your chaos comedy cat!
Tobi and Abby are always a joy to see them work and having a good time they are good dogs
Morgan, thank you so much for your videos and your exceptional honesty! HUGS!!!!
Hey Morgan! In my experience plums prefer sunny, dry conditions with good watering over wet and raining with less sun. Might be the wet summer you got stunting them.
Hey Morgan, I understand that maybe you have had some good experiances with Better Help but I would encourage you to look in to them a bit. There had been some serious alligations coming against them with how they treat and over work their therapists and not doing proper screening. Do with that what you will but just letting you know since you are promoting them through your channel. Love your videos.
The Scriptures are my therapy
I’ve had very good experiences with em and I think that the accessible nature of the platform is really important.
The little plums are the best
I've found they are the sweetest with best flavor. Definitely prefer the small ones over big plums.
Geese are pretty easy. Nothing better than gosling sounds too. It is funny to watch them look at airplanes. They think they could be giant predators and will eye them like they may be a hawk or eagle. You can kind of train them a little. You can get them to come when you call. They defiantly will respond. They love making a racket. Defiantly enjoy asserting themselves with noise.
I love the way Morgan sees his animals as having different preferences and needs, not just because of their species but because of their personalities. I had 2 pet geese as a child, but sadly cannot have any now due to where I live. Those guys are LOUD.
9:50 🤣 Lol, that exact same thing happened to me when I filmed a YT video and my cat wandered by in the background.
Just got my first duck egg yesterday!!
Also, anyone near WI that wants male “weird chickens”? Out of 6 silkies I got only ONE hen. They are so sweet!
My toddler is not a fan of Ms Rachel but loooves checking in with Mr Morgan and Goldshaw Farm. Thanks for another lovely video to woof, cluck, meow and moo along.
It always cracks me up with cats how they get iver stimulated while being pet and then chomp on your wrist, hand😅 my Minkies will be so loving and then she'll get this look and you know it's coming. She never hurts us but we know we're done with the moment of love 😂😅
Ginny has some impressive comedic timing and skills! What a precious bean :3
Can't wait for lots of baby shaggy heeland coos!
What an interesting life you have, my friend!
Very cool 👍
Your hardcover book came in!!!
I LOVE the first pages even before the story begins!!!
I only got through Chapter 1, as I had to got to work, but it’s on the coffee table for my family
And it arrived in time for my husband’s birthday today.
It’s not exactly for him-but he doesn’t know that.
I bet he’ll love it, as he loves doggos and their stories☀️
Hope you enjoy it!
Always good to see you, Morgan 😁
Don't be concerned when Mr Pablo Barn-Cat bites you. These nibbles are male, maybe also female, cat version of love-bites. My males did it also! It is only when claws are flying, or they grip with those talons are flying that you back-off! (Still can be painful though!) Pablo does love you though as he is displaying no aggression just appreciation!
Interesting...I just finished watching "Cross Timbers Bison" where they spent an hour with the local AG Rep discussing how much weight of various animals can be grazed on how much land. The formula covers chickens to bison. For bison it ran from 11 to 15 acers per thousand pounds of bison.
There’s also a reason they’re called “alarm systems”.
I hope you create an uplifting routine for the winter days.
You have lovely grass pastures. Here in AZ, we have cactus and sand. I have zero plans to get geese.
I have 10 geese in 300ft of premier net with turkeys. During the summer in Florida the pasture stays super clean and tons of grass. During the winter I have to move them twice a
Loved spending the morning with you, Toby, Abby, Ginny and all the animals that make Gold Shaw Farm the place to have a cup of coffee and begin the day.
Thanks Morgan for taking us along, see you soon!
Glad you enjoyed it
Such a happy wholesome farm. Algorithm sent me here. Worth it
I recommend the videos of Anathoth Community Farm in Idaho. He bale grazes his cattle on pasture through the winter.
Chaotic Neutral sounds about right for cats. All my catfolk characters in D&d tend to be chaotic neutral.
No matter what is going on, good or bad, avian content rules!
Pablo was just giving you love bites that's all.
okay. abby’s face was definitely in that cow pie 😂 to be fair my dog rolls around in his own poop. i wish i knew what his thinking behind that is. the world may never know. also i would love to see more of the piggies eating lol
Thanks for sharing. ^__^ Great morning.
Morgan I have metal health issues and I find to keep on me going is my dog and my bird's. As like you said it helps to talk to someone. I look forward watching your videos as its helps me to relax with a nice of tea.
I am currently wearing my "All Ducks Go to Bed" t-shirt-lovely and comfy - makes mr feel wholesome!
😊 Sweet Toby boy.
Nice music used in today's video.
Just want to let you know on a sidenote that I am wearing my Molly murder mittens T-shirt to bed this entire week and hugging it dearly and sending you love 💔
hey Morgan, I always feel like a jerk when I do this but some unsolicited bike advice: It looks like the stem is backwards on your bike. This is the part that attaches to the handlebars -- it almost always is meant to protrude forward/away from you. No real harm in having it point toward you other than it maybe feeling cramped/weird but thought I'd just mention this.
Enjoyed the video today, looking forward to seeing the trees change up there in VT very soon :)
I have flipped for easier camera mounting and one handed riding
@@GoldShawFarm I see, I was wondering if that was the motivation and was why I was hesitant to say something. Thanks for explaining 🖖
I bet my neighbors would just love goose noise all day -- I would love it.
Got my book and loved it - will pass along to a young person sometime but in the meantime I am enjoying all of it
Will Baby B spend next summer alone on the lower pasture? (to avoid being bred too early) as the 2 young heffers have done this summer
Maybe it will depend on whether or when new baby cows appear in the spring. Cheers 💜
She’ll probably be in the lower pasture with a friend.
@@GoldShawFarm Hey Morgan thanks for replying, is this friend already on the farm or will be a new arrival? Maybe could keep her with one of the older Heffers on lower, while the other older Heffer goes to upper pasture (for Macho Man to breed) then rotate. Very intriguing! Best Wishes
Livestock guardian dogs are so neat - I’ve heard of ppl using donkeys yo guard livestock but I’m not sure if they would guard anything or if they guard bigger things like sheep or llamas
Great recall with Abby girl!!!
Cant wait to taste those roast geese
Your video are my peaceful time watching👀.......Thanks Morgan 👍
Old Shoe🇺🇸
cool, a DnD reference!
I’m so glad you reached out, and found a good therapist…you’ve been so down, I was worried about you
They look like beach plums. Grow on coast. Run small
Hi Morgan, with all the love and compassion in my heart i want to say that im glad that betterhelp worked for you and helped you but it is really not a good company to work for and promote. The youtuber Micky Atkins has done several videos on betterhelp (i believe that they had to take some of them down for legal threats made by betterhelp and their lawyers) they address the situation with a lot of nuance and compassion. I understand that contractually you are obligated to leave this sponsorship as it is but please consider not working with them again in the future.
I thought you were going to say that Jenni was your therapist. Then she did the parkour move, and YES they are therapist....
Geese would also be glad to eat those fallen apples if any are left after feeding the pigs.😊😊
When will you be taking the piggies to slaughter? They have grown so much. Thanks for the updates Morgan ❤
Very soon! (Doing it on farm)
The Fox and his wife without any strife cut up the goose with a fork and a knife. They never had such a time in their life and the little ones chewed on the bones-o
Hey. Next year take a look at raising Mangalitsa Pigs… just a thought.
Giving exact numbers on a sustainable population based almost entirely on your own land is hard.
Myself in Canada we have a bunch of massively fast growing invasive grasses and that allows about two geese per "yard"
Without any worry about stressing the land.
I never moved my ducks and geese, but they never broke a population count of 20.
I'd say for the first year start with 25-35 head for two Acers.
If you only mow the land once a month maybe aim for 20.
Myself we can mow three time a month and have a natural creek. So we can push a larger population.
Me and Morgan are on the same page pretty much, nice to see that.
Man knows his stuff.
Good Morning
Are you going to use the wood that was knocked down for Allison's greenhouse? Can't wait to find out which cows are pregnant.
I think this wood was milled to create separate areas in the loft area. Morgan has planned a brooder space and another area which I can’t remember what for, maybe an office like space or something.
don’t be afraid to smack the pigs with something hard to stop them from being food aggressive towards you
Crested chickens need the sides of the crest trimmed, hard to see if you don’t do it. They don’t see (for example)a chicken higher up in the pecking order wanting her to move..she gets pecked.
9:46 JennEEEEEEEEEEE
Release the clucken!!! HUZZAH!!!❤📣
So glad the clouds have lifted a bit for you Morgan. Hoping the frequency of gray days stays low. Also, may I request a video of autumn on your farm in Vermont with the beautiful leaves? P.S. did you say geese-onomics instead of economics? Could have been my bad hearing but it made me laugh 😀
Good video. I hope you are ok. My toby dog book is supposed to arrive on tuesdy.
Really like your bike can I ask what make it is? I’m looking for a good one for myself. Hugs for Molly.
Great to see all the animals. Any news on Molly murder mittens?
Unfortunately no
Are those some silkies mixed with the regular young chicks?
My neighbors had three geese and they said they never had to pull weeds
Why do you have your bikes mount (the part that connects the stem to the handlebars) backwards? Normally they're supposed to move the handle bars away from you but you have them moved towards you
Won't be long before you harvest some of your flock
Any Toby and Abby dog plush toys for children coming for the holidays---would love to buy the books and plush for small children for the holidays/ Thanks!
so what birds would you not raise going forward?
I think that Amanda was skittish when she came to the farm was because she was pregnant, her change in personality occurred after baby B was born.
The other girls also didn’t welcome her to the herd with open, um, horns either. Even now she is always on the outer edge of the herd.
It will actually be interesting to see how Bonnie and Belinda are welcomed back.
Some people are sensitive to noise. I am fine with a dog barking. I owe it to the dog to check out the window cos the dog feels something is amiss. It doesn't mean it is. And someone here has chickens. about noon, I can feel them making noise like.. I am laying!!!! I too feel like making a bit of noise just when it's period time. And then I am on the local reddit. EVERYTIME I hear some fireworks. There will be some idiot asking if it's fireworks and if it's legal. They start frothing at the mouth, I swear. lol It lasts like 20 min. Here New years eve is the extreme fireworks place. I will spend at least 150 USD on a good battery (firework display).
What was the music/sounds you used in the first few minutes? It really set a whole vibe that made me relaxed and nosgastlic.
did you not buy a white highland cow ? Where is she or did you cancel the deal?
Do you think you can keep a lone goose or are they a flock poultry?
They need another bird. Could be a duck or chickens. They are flock animals.
@ 9:45 Jenny is a " Foolish Animal " ~.
Ginny?
❤
Can you tell the same idea for cows that how many acres would one need for 10 cows in tropical region
I don’t know much about tropical climates
Hi Morgan. I enjoyed this time with you, but I have a little question. Has Alison asked you about a pagoda around the garden? A couple of years ago, you indicated that Alison was looking for some space to relax enjoy her garden and have something that was her space. I know she doesn't like any dialogue or her privacy infringed upon. I wanted to see if she would share her vision with you.
I love animals. But the piggy taking a huge piece off the watermelon scared me a little. Makes me wonder if they can take a bite off the skin on some meat 😅😂
Well…they say never to fall down in a pig pen 😅
True…when they get big enough, they can turn the tables and eat us…keep your footing!
Do you worm your animals?
🎉
40 MILES FROM NO WARE HERE ..................
When you posted your thumbnail how are we going to hear your voice (over the geese)!
I still really want to know what’s going on with Kurt Cobain’s horns and skull
What happened to the stickers?
You might need to thin out your plums, Morgan. You want to go for quality, rather than quantity.

Hoping you will feel better soon. Grief takes it’s own timeline. Hang in there❤
Happy to hear you in a better mood Thank you for what you share with us.
Agreed
Another hint about cats: I had two cats that had been together for three years when one went missing. The remaining cat, Tinker, became surly during Dingbat's absence. She slept in different places, would only play for a couple of minutes and - as Pablo has done in two videos - welcome petting, give a sharp nip and then either repeat the process or leave in a huff. If we had had another animal, I am sure Tinker would have also been a bit nasty to that animal. Maybe Mollie's absence is affecting Pablo and causing the sharp nips he is given you plus his more frequent snaps and swats at Ginny.
In contrast, when Dingbat suddenly died, Tinker smelled his cooled body and none of the "bad" behaviors occurred. She did want much more attention and snuggling for a few weeks after his death, however.
