Their live shows have always been better all throughout 1999-2012. I was at a show after CoE where they played this song where he sang the high harmony which he never does, and the hairs on every person neck was standing straight up. They fell off after Nightmare bc Shadows is naturally aging and his voice is too tired and injured after all these years to abuse it like when he was younger. @@ExternusArmy Actually, his voice was injured in 2003/2004 bc he had a very bad screaming(Not after Nightmare) after that he did a better job and trained a lot(CoE); with their performances in 2012-2017(mids) that were pretty awesome and even better than some older shows(For example, Afterlife, Gunslinger and even Second Heartbeat in which Matt does a better scream technique); that was because they were more technical, but they overcharged themselves, so Matt had another issue but this time not bc of bad technique, but bc he overworked.

Jimmy did actually help sing the higher notes in this one too because if you listen closely, you can just hear a higher voice behind Matt's during the bridge, which is obviously him since as a tenor he was able to reach much higher notes than Matt. Most of the time before he changed his vocal style, Matt sang it alone but yes Jimmy would occasionally sing the higher notes himself especially after City of Evil came out whenever they played this song.
@@Colt2OO2 Tenor or baritone does not define the range (at least for high notes, for lows it might define) because he have sooo many ways and techniques to reach high and super high notes, anyone can do it. Tenor simply tell wheter the voice is brighter or darker. But yeah the main vocal line is usually the lower or the mid one when the song has multiple vocals in different pitches, which helps saving energy for the singer (Matt) and since this entire band cand sing (let's not talk about Johnny), why not? And the vocals of CoE were so intense he has to save his voice by not singing higher notes in songs like this, so he can sing for the rest of the perfomance (which is REALLY hard, singing in studio is way easier).
@@lucas_toti13 tenor does not mean brighter, its just in a higher place. the tessitura is higher than that of a baritone allowing for easier access to higher notes, its just genetics. Jimmy is light lyric tenor while matt was a baritone, for matt to be able to sing a Eb5 in mix voice is insane for a baritone
