I just had a great experience at my Harbor freight store in Pottstown PA. I wanted something from the extended sidewalk sale and they didn't have it. The manager wrote me a raincheck for Tuesday the 18th. When I got there, they initially couldn't find it so i left. The woman at the checkout Mikayla ran to the door and called me back because the manager found it. I think his name was Brian. I was always unsure of the other Harbor freight stores in the area. I will be shopping this one now.
At least twice now, I have gone to HF looking for an item their website showed as in stock. Neither was on the shelf. I asked. One time, an oversized item, the staffer took like forever and eventually emerged from the back room holding it, smiling, looking pleased. The next time the staffer emerged from the back room saying they didn't have it. A smaller item. I insisted that their website showed it in stock and they checked their online inventory - which confirmed it was in stock. Called over another person who went to look again. Some minutes later emerged from the back room holding it, smiling, looking pleased. The lessons here: 1) Check their stock status online and 2) Their back room does not seem to be well organized. If an item shows as in stock, it is probably there. Insist they keep looking. Staff was, BTW, very friendly and helpful.
I love the Pottstown store, I know both of the parties you mentioned. What a great staff there. I was stalking that place while it was being built and wasn't disappointed
Bought this kit 2 months ago just for the T55 to remove some rusty truck bed bolts. Threw it on a Ridgid ugga dugga and it performed well. No wear marks on it even though it took a pounding. Have used some of the other bits on the mower with no issues. Definitely worth the buy 👍
Depending on what material your bed is that can sheer the mounts right off but it worked sweet... just posting so if anyone else sees this might prevent a headache
Glad you talked about the warranty. I have had sets like this where I had bits crumble on me. From the beginning of the video all I could think about was, “what if one of these bits break?” Having an incomplete set and a mish mash of bits doesn’t fly in my DIY garage. Thanks for being thorough. I was about to look up the warranty after the video. You never disappoint! Great product showcase.
HF is better than HD or Lowe’s on warranty
That is a nice set, and a killer price.
I bought the Quinn 1/2"-drive deep socket sets (Metric & SAE) in 2022, and they have taken quite a bit of abuse.
I wish harbour freight would make an all 10mm socket set ! I would buy 2 of them !
They do? They have a 10 piece set for $15.
@@homelee665Yeah, they had two sales on them and recent memory. One of the sales for like 10 bucks, and the other one was using a 20% coupon I believe.
Pittsburgh brand 10mm set is currently $15 at my store.
They do make one 58957 is the item number
Just picked this set up with the current 35% off coupon for $65. A steal!
I have compared my Quinn to a coworker's Kobalt. They appear identical. Kobalt is known to be made by Apex tools, parent company of Gearwrench.
Most of the Quinn socket and ratchet line are now made by Apex. I am not sure about the other Quinn products. However, there are some differences between Kobalt, Quinn, and GearWrench.
This looks so close to the tekton set. I like supporting small companies but, this looks like a killer deal! I think I will still go the tekton route but, its nice to see some more options. God bless and thanks for the upload!
This is made by Apex now. So it’s a decent set and comparable to GearWrench. Also Capri has a similar set for a similar price.
These are consumable. Harbor freight is relatively consistent.
I got this with one of the 15% off all Quinn coupons and it’s awesome
Wow that Casoman set is cheap! But for the easy warranty I’d definitely take the Quinns overall
I've just waiting on a coupon for this set. I do have some credit at Tekon and like there sets that come on rails. I'm torn. Thanks for another great review!
So excited for this set !!
Going to buy this with my 25%off coupon! Thanks 👍👍
When is H.F. going to put out an Icon Master Bit Socket Set? I'd pick one up in a heartbeat.
Great review as usual, Jeff! Thank you. What is e-torx? Thanks! 😊😊😊❤❤❤
Those are used in special applications apparently. I've only encountered them holding seatbelts fasteners to the floor or subframe of vehicles. Back in 1998 needed to remove them on a project vehicle, could only find a socket that size at NAPA locally, impact rated half inch, which was good since it was a *BEAR* to get out! 👀🙄🤦 Cost me $30+ or I could have bought a set of 6 for $139...
@@Arkie407 Thanks very much, Arkie! 🙂🙂
I've had the blue point set for several years and I didn't pay any where near its current price. My only problem has always been the lack of ball end
You wouldn’t wanna use that kind of bit on a impact anyways so this is perfect. Thanks for the video bub
I got this set and some others. Not only are they good quality but you simply can't beat the warranty. HF does it right and that's why it just doesn't make sense to buy snap on anymore.
Icon coupon just dropped. 👀
Scored this set for $60 but it was missing the t40 which I had a pittsburgh one and I just put it in the case with the quinn.
I do like this set and have the other 5 i believe master sets. The one drawback i saw is the bits that have a reduced diameter tip have a square corner and not a radius creating a weak point. Id be okay with the larger bits in the field but the smaller ones ehhh not sure id trust them. Lifetime warranty aside id most likely continue breaking them until a design rev change. Not hating on HF, as I love and have a lot of the Quinn, Hercules and Icon stuff and have tons of Pittsburg Pro I use daily in the field repairing Industrial presses and metal working machinery. Thanks for the reviews!
Also, just gonna say this......
Gearwrench has the nicer set IMO......the ball ends are a BIG DEAL to me!
But, I will most likely buy the Quinn over the Gearwrench set strictly because of the warranty convenience!
Also, if ICON is coming out with a comparable set, id bet they will have the ball ends, and potentially a few more pieces 👍
There's no way I'd use ball ends as my primary set. Fine to have a set of them in addition, but they add a huge physical weakness. The straight, solid ones snap easily enough.
Great review.. I’ve thought about getting that set myself.
Is HF by chance doing a similar set in the Icon line?
I belive so.
I really miss craftsman.. i wish a billionaire would buy them and start manufacturing in the US and open craftsman stores
Agreed. Just recently warrantied 3 made in the USA tri-wing ratchets that my grandfather gave me. Replacements obviously aren’t made in the U.S., don’t feel as solid and robust, and the new ones don’t fit in the case the old ones came in. Lifetime warranty doesn’t mean much when the quality of the newer products is inferior.
Great Set, IMO!
Honestly, though! Am I the only one who would prefer to return the whole set and get a new set for warranty?
I mean, why would someone rather replace one bit vs. getting an entirely new set?
Bueller.......Bueller.......???
I think for this socket bit set, I'd leave them all in the case. But I bought all the Quinn regular socket sets, and I don't keep them in the cases, I have them all organized my own way on my own organizers in the top section of my tool cart. It would be much easier for me to just get the one socket replaced than to pack up all the rest, then re-organize them all again... for really no reason.
Harbour Freight did it again. Hopefully theres a Quinn coupon soon.
I wish the Icon master sets went higher than 19mm
My two items is up front the cost and second is warranty third is how easy it is to "use" the warranty.
Like have been saying for a good year know Quinn is the best (brand) overall set at harbor freight right now and right up with all the prosumer brands out there. Most of the "master set" are actually master set. This set definitely a bit liberal with the term master set manly in the longer bits. But definitely a solid set for the $$
The case on the GW is the #84
Wish I had seen this last year. Been slowly buying the Pittsburgh pieces. With a 25 or 30%, this would have been cheaper.
Casoman appears to only have a 1-year warranty - hard NO. I've given up on gearwrench, they appear to have moved a lot of hand tools to be manufactured in China (NOT Taiwan!) which shows up as new quality issues and their warranty process is so painfully slow I am still recovering from PTSD from the last time I tried to get an item replaced which took 2-months. All the Quinn stuff is Taiwan-made, locally available, and the easiest to warranty ever (walk in with broken thing, walk out with new thing!). Never had any complaints with any of the PPro or Quinn sockets from HFT, I prefer the large stamping compared to the tiny font/stamping of my gearwrench sockets (and I have excellent vision!).
It is impact rated?
I love my Quinn tools that I have
that set a big eh for me, the grey t shirt on you….. aces !
I owen the blue point set get it from a shady guy for 100 dollars with a blue point 1/4 sock set so 50 dollars and i warranty the cases try that at harbor freight
The new tool Tuesdays have been rather disappointing and repetitive iterations of things they already dropped. They should change the name to 'ICYMI Tues' lol. But seriously, we don't expect a new tool drop every Tues.
This is old news.
Harbor freight sells garbage tools and that’s fine for the homeowner or guy who uses them every now and then I personally buy some tools there if it’s a one time use or a set to keep in a car for emergency use but the majority of the crap they sell can be bought on Amazon for a fraction of the price warranty I could care less if I’m using these tools it’s in a emergency or a one time deal where I don’t care if they get lost or break
I broke my ICON 17mm ratcheting wrench. The manager just broke open a new set, and gave me the wrench. No sweat.
I twisted the T6 in the Icon Small Bit Wrench set, came in the employee offered me an option of changing out the entire set, or just the bit. I took the bit. Took less than 5 min. I was already there for something else anyway.
That explains the packages that are missing pieces that they have on sale 😅
@@ls_812 For a while before I knew their warranty policy, I thought those were packages people either stole stuff from, or returned with missing pieces. Lol!
How did it break bro
@@bobbuilder-wo9tv holding a nut, removing a frozen bolt with an impact.
I'm kinda looking forward to the Icon Master sets...curious what they'll do there. However the Quinns are a great option and are no slouch either. If you're an occasional DIYer and don't want to blow extra on tools, they are a very solid choice.
We have the Gearwrench one. It is an amazing set. 🙂
Great job big bear!!!
It's too bad it does not have the T70 and T80 bits. The T70 is needed on the Subaru cars to change oils.
I got my set with a 20 or 25% coupon and it is excellent value. While It would be nicer if the extended lengths were ball-end. The quality is very good. The collection is complete. Harbor Freight products have come a long way from where they were 25 years ago. And they really did take over from where Sears left off. If they start carrying individual pieces, they'd be unstoppable.
Its not the 10mm allen key that gets lost its the 6mm and 7/32😂
I love the Quinn Master Sets….however I’m PISSED to find out after buying all 3 of the regular sets that they started putting out comparable ICON sets about a month after I bought them. I cussed when I saw the ICON 1/4 drive set
Absolutely love this kit used it daily
I hear Capri doesn't like honoring their warranties and I hear that they're almost impossible to reach
Did you pay for the Quinn set?
What makes a set a “master set”? Is it the large number of pieces? No skips in sizes? The material it’s made from? Or is it all just in the manufacturer’s discretion?
No skips.
I have the Gearwrench set without the long reach sockets. I love them, but that Quinn set does have the long reach. I might have to check it out one of these days and see if there's one in the open box section of the store. It might just come home with me.
not impact rated... but definitely impact tested on my end. both on my m12 stubby and hercules ultra torque. so far everything has held up without even signs of wear.
I need to replace my old Craftsman masters' set most of which is still at my dad's house - between missing tools and that my brother inherited the house and he relies on the tools now, I haven't the heart to take the set (plus it's intermingled with other sets at this point) so I need to replace it. I've been eyeing the Quinn set for a while but I've been holding out hoping that HF comes out with an Icon set with no skips.
The problem with the Quinn master tool set, is the socket sets have skips, so I'd have to buy the master set, and then still have to buy these master socket sets to get all the skipped sizes. I've "made do" on skipped bolt sizes using shims in the next size up socket, or if they're not tightly torqued, simply using a larger socket and going slowly, or an adjustable wrench (thankfully there is no torque specified otherwise I'd be SOL), but IMHO no master set should ever skip a size because chances are, your project will have that skipped size. Yes, I do actually need the unobtainable 23mm for one example. :-(
Also note: the impact-rated "master socket sets" skip sizes. >_<
I wish HF would offer individual socket sizes for sale. I just bought new sets the other day because I lost a 14mm socket.
Great review on an awesome set. I flagged this months ago and have been waiting for a sale on this set. I don't need these right now so this will be an easy one to wait on. One thing I've noticed from my Dewalt bit sockets, that came with my socket set, is that the bits aren't seated exactly perpendicular to the socket housing. SO this causes a bit of wobble when using them on a drill or impact driver. Would be nice to have a HF set where I could just return one and get it fixed but with Dewalt, the time required to pack, ship and get it replaced doesn't make it worth it.....especially since it's only a slight wobble and I can easily compensate. Plus the socket set I bought was the main reason I bought the set and these bit drivers were simply an add on that was a bonus for me.
I have the Blue Point set. Dad bought it when he was working. Several of them are broken. I'm replacing them with Harbor Freight but I also have the Gearwrench set that I bought before dad passed. I'm very happy with the Gearwrench set but I'm all in on team Harbor Freight these days. I just hope they are able to avoid the fate that Sears/Craftsman met. It's hard to be cheaper than everyone else and also be liberal with warrantying tools. I'd like to see them continue to be around for a long time.
I like your content, and for the most part, this would make anyone a good set. However, when you’re working on older vehicles, especially the torque, they absolutely have to be impact rated because you’re not gonna get those super rusty bolts off without an impact
Ah $#it! YOU HAD TO THROW THE CASOMAN SET IN DIDNT YA!
Come on man! Thats unfair!
I need HF to start selling individual sockets. I have to go to other locations to get individuals when mine come up missing :/
Id like it if they did naster 1/4 3/8 sae or metric only. Have classic cars and the metric isnt helpful for to go road trip sets.
What is a good safety bit set? Any brand. Have you done a video on those. Thanks. Love your channel.
Did you mean security bits? If so, no I have not done one but it's a great idea!
@@denoftools yes. Security bits. My bad.
84 pieces with the box😂
You are probably right on that.
Wow. And, if I hadn’t accumulated a complete set of Craftsman in 1/4’, 3/8’ and 1/2’ in SAE and Metric, I would buy it. 😁😁😁
I can't stand skip size sets. After discovering these master sets it was a no brainer to make the investment. I already have the ¼" and ⅜" and will eventually get the others. Having everything match and not be full of superfluous extras that you don't need was a huge selling point. Buy once, cry once.
