Hey everyone! It's about time I took on an Octo Expansion track and I did not hold back! When I first heard Shark Bytes in the game, it got me so hyped up and definitely was a standout track, so I knew I just had to remix it! The pumpin' bass line and the lovely glitchy synth work, as well as that wonderful banjo(?), makes for a very exciting track, even for Off the Hook standards! I hope you enjoy my take on it!
I was definitely super pumped to amplify this track, and that started with the bass. I took some (quite obvious) inspiration from a few Shibayan Touhou remixes to really get down on the gritty bass and punchy percussion. I absolutely had a blast writing every bass and drum pattern, even if they did take a lot of mind power. As fate would have it, the recent Off the Hook live came out as I was working on this mix, so I definitely took a few notes from that performance as well, although I did try to keep it closer to the in-game version. I had some particular trouble with sound design while working this mix. Things just weren't quite sounding right and on top of that I had to adapt the original vocal lines into something that worked in this context. But I think it turned out alright, and I'm really proud of what I have here!
Thanks for all the support everyone! I really wanted to get this one out in January, but alas time went on without me. I've actually been spending a lot of my time on a newly formed Splatoon 2 competitive team, Walk the Plankton, and it's been a blast! I had an absolutely amazing time working on this mix, so even more Splatoon remixes will definitely be coming throughout the year, so stay tuned~

I’m really grateful for this remix, I was never really into Splatoon before I found your channel. Even then I never really listened to the Splatoon remixes, usually the Pokémon and Mystery Dungeon ones but I listened to the full playlist too. I always liked your Bomb Rush Blush remix, and the hype sound of Fresh Start/ Something New just to name a few, but I didn’t know much about the Splatoon soundtrack outside of that. When you released this remix, I couldn’t stop listening to it, everything about it is done really well, and it almost topped my other favourite remixes of yours like “Eons ago” and “Forbidden Melody”. Eventually, I realised I really loved all your other Splatoon remixes as well so I checked out the soundtrack and watched a few videos from the community. It completely blew me away, the game is so unique and has a really passionate fandom, and the gameplay and story is amazing! I’ve been almost obsessed since. And when I came across Shark Bytes again in the Octo Expansion, I couldn’t help thinking of Data Overflow and how it got me into Splatoon.
Anyway, your remixes are amazing and very original, I hope you keep loving what you’re doing and producing great content! Thank you!!!

This is the most wholesome thing I've ever seen. And yeah, splatoon is such a great game with such a cool fandom. I've been in love with the lore and world for years, but even more in love with the music. Splatoon is the most innovative shooter I've played in years... wait-

I was playing splatoon while listening to this and when I heard that bomb sound effect at the beginning my first thought was "who tf is throwing bombs"

Other then the fact that this is Shark Bytes, if you read the description you can see they took some inspiration form Touhou, which in my opinion, is one of the reasons this is so good!

at one point I removed one because it was too long to fit everything and then I changed to rest to be consistent, and then I just started doing it again and haven’t got around to changing to old ones back. there are still specific tracks I have to omit the name to fit everything else though.
