What do you think about my year end curriculum reflection? Let me know what your favorites were this year!
I agree with you about trying harder and slowing down rather than dropping something completely. I think that's a good example for the kids about being persistent.
Good to know you love the Simple Spanish. Yes would love a lesson to see.
Coming soon!
Life of Fred! Yes! We love Fred! 😍
Awesome! It's so fun!
I can relate to changing curriculum thing. Not changing .... too. That' a goal.
Ohhh I like the idea of just getting the activity guide for SOTW and reading the suggested books. To get an even more literature based history!
Right?!
100% relatable. I have a kinder and 2nd grader. Thanks for the realness. I’ve jumped around curriculums too but in the end I found what works for my girls.
Great recap Ashley, slow and steady, it's not a race 🙌😊
Draw Africa looks so neat
I really enjoyed your end of the year update. I like how you keep things simple and workable. I find that I tend to want to do more than is feasible so then I am forced to peel back the layers to what is truly important to us!
I had a 7yr. Old, a 5 yr. Old, and a 3 yr. At the beginning of the school year (I have since added a Newborn). Our favorites were Easy Peasy Math, reading the Imagination Station books together, SCM's Print to Cursive Proverbs book, singing CC songs, and doing Art projects.
We joined Hidden in my Heart Bible memory verse challange a couple of months ago and we really enjoy it. Keeps us on track. Thank you for sharing!
That is awesome! Thanks for joining :)
Loved hearing your update!
Thanks, so much, Sarah!
Awesome review I love how you try to let the curriculum work for your children's needs. I really like the approach you take to learning
Glad it was helpful!
Lol at your husband 🤣
This was a great recap. Thanks for sharing
I love that you made your own verse copy work sheets!! Definitely going to check that out!!
Yay! Thank you!
Drawing the continents sounds awesome! I am gonna look into that!!
Do you read while they draw? I'm not an artsy gal. I need so much direction! 😂
Oh man! Thanks for this! We are finishing our 5th year of homeschooling. It is great to hear someone else say they are just settling into their homeschool "groove". I feel like I need to unschool since my background is in a classroom. My kids have been hs since the start. I am starting to trust my instincts for sourcing products to meet their needs. Still praying for wisdom and confidence... ❤
You are so welcome! You go this :) Glad we can relate to each other!
I am looking forward to using your bible memory system next year.
I'm so excited to hear you enjoy your Spanish. I'd love to see a lesson in action.
Yes! I second this! So interested in their Spanish lessons.
Thanks for this update! I'd really love to see a Spanish lesson video, please!
Also, you are not alone on the whiplash experience. We've had some of that this year. All About Reading has been a big blessing with my late reading 8, newly 9y.o son. We are half way through level 2 and it's the 1 thing I know we will continue with next year. 😳😂
Yay! I'm glad AAR has been a good fit for your son. It's so nice when you finally find something that clicks :)
We done TGTB space and marine biology and we loved it. We loved the links to other sceince areas. We love TGTB language arts. I love that ur son is passionate bout his school work!!! My kids are independent in their language arts and maths a lot. My word of the yr is restore and we’ve done that wiv science
That's great! Love your word of the year. :)
I bought Simple Spanish off your review! I'd love to see you do a lesson. So far we've listened to the unit 1song. I'll officially add it in the fall.
Did you see my video on how we do a lesson?? Just posted last week!
@@JoyfulNoiseLiving I did! It was helpful to see how you use it.
We're using K Math with Confidence and love it! I had no idea they already had Grade 2! I know what I'll be using for my upcoming 2nd grader!
Its not released to the public yet. Grade 1 will be released on June 1. Grade 2 is only in the pilot phase. We will be using grade k this coming year and are excited.
I've considered going back to TGTB for my 4th grader next year if it's going to be more independent!
such a beautiful channel you have here. l Love all aspects of your channel, and am happy to subscribe here.l,m evo form Australian
take care Sister
Thanks for being here! Welcome!
I’ve heard great things about Story of the World.
Going full CM can be kinda scary at first, especially because you don’t see results right away. The LA part is scariest for me. I briefly tried TGTB again this year because I wanted to see quicker results (and pretty pictures) and it just did not mix well with doing things the CM way. I am now sticking with the the way Amblesideonline has LA laid out (and according to Know and Tell by Karen Glass) and it is just so much better. :)
YES YES YES... all of this I can relate to. I tried so many times to dive in full force, and I have a little here and there, but was always pulled by the enticing workbooks, especially TGTB. And this year was probably the most I have strayed from CM... which is so embarrassing. I am pretty sure this is our last year with TGTB and I' am so excited to do more of what Karen Glass does. Sometimes it just doesn't feel like "enough", but I need to just trust the process.
Great video, thank you for sharing..
I would love to see a Spanish lesson.
We are doing the story of the world for history too, do you know where I can get a list of read aloud books recommendations to go along with every TSOTW level, we only get the CDs but I would like to supplement with books, however my son doesn’t enjoy the activities and coloring pages.
What I think about your recap is....I’m jealous you’re piloting math with confidence! Lol 😂 my daughter will be beginning second grade in the fall and I’ve been kind of bummed the curriculum won’t be ready. I love Kate Snow!
Oh, but I also enjoyed the whole recap! Great job!
Ha ha! Thank you! You know what I just realized... I'm not sure if I was supposed to share that I'm in the pilot group, lol! Oops! Do you have a younger child that will be able to use the MWC? My oldest is too old to use it, sadly. So, it's been really hard finding good math for her. I should have stuck with Right Start really. Have you tried Right Start? It's pretty similar to MWC!
@@JoyfulNoiseLiving she is my youngest and my only homeschooler. We are mostly using playing math games and using mathematical reasoning which she enjoys quite a bit. I’ve cycled through many in my one year of homeschool, math mammoth, zearn, mlfle. This seems to be working the most out of all of them. I’d originally bough mathematical reasoning as a supplement but it is the only thing we’ve stuck it out with.
You provide amazing tools for parents! Have you considered sharing Spanish learning tools as well?
We would love to partner with you! ❤️
I've just checked out your channel! You've got some great stuff!
@@JoyfulNoiseLiving thank you so much! I have sent you a quick DM over Instagram, I believe you can get to enjoy what we have to offer :)
We will be using BJU K5 Focus on Fives for kindergarten next year but for this year with pre-k we used Timberdoodle Pre-K elite kit was not a good fit for my son.
@A Person I just felt that some of the games are above a pre-k level and to hard for this age group. So you buy all that stuff just to find most of the games are to hard for this age group. The All About Reading pre-reading is okay but you get through it all by Christmas or so so it's only good for 1/2 the year so I just repeated it and we are done again fixing to start something else for the rest of the year. Math is gentle and simple but could use more depth. Some materials do not last all year. So you spend all this money for the elite kit and for me, may be different for others, only to use maybe a third of it and having to add in other resources. To me it's not worth it but what didn't work for me may still work for other families.
@A Person you're welcome glad I could help 😊
I would love to the the Spanish unit. Please
You got it! Hopefully soon! I only do about one video a week, but I'll try to squeeze it in!
Thanks for the update. How far does Math with Confidence goes to?
Grade 2 is in final pilot stage, but she has plans to go to Grade 4.
Grade 1 is available now!
What translation do you use for memory work?
ESV, I do have KJV options for the copy work packets and some of the songs :)
What did you use last year for medieval history? My second grader is asking to learn that time period.
I actually put together my own unit study. I searched a few of my favorite book lists, then picked the books I thought my kids would like, and we just read them and talked about what we were all learning! I did a few projects like making shields. And we had a playmobile castle set they played with. I intended on reading Story of the World Volume 2, but we never got to it 😬
Where do you get some of your stuff printed and bound?
I get mine done with Family Nest Printing! They are so good! You can use my link here: lddy.no/uvdn
@@JoyfulNoiseLiving Thank you!
Curriculum whiplash is real!
Just curious, I know you said it maybe wasn’t your favorite year. do you know what your favorite year was?
That's a great question, Lydia! As I think about it.... definitely the early years. I really loved doing God's Little Explorers with my two oldest when they were 4 yo and 6yo. That was a really good year. And then I think the year we did lots of unit studies and read alouds. I can't remember which year that was... I think when they were 3rd/Kinder/Toddler. I really feel I fell away from the unit studies and living books, but that is really where we all thrive. I'm going to back to that next year :) I think I freaked out as my oldest gets older that she just has to be doing "more" and being more rigorous.
@Joyful Noise Learning: Help for Homeschoolers yes, I feel like the same thing happened with me and my oldest as well. I am also hoping to go back to a similar plan as yours this upcoming year :) I can’t wait to see what you’ll be doing with your family this year! thank you for your videos. They’re really encouraging!
Your husband…lol
