One of my favourite podcasts. I will admit to not being the biggest Sexton fan. But, found him to be open, honest and a really interesting man who knows his own mind. Needless, to say I have changed my opinion and hope to see him playing top level rugby for a few more years.
Johnny reminds me a bit of Mike Brown, someone who is really passionate and wants to win so badly and therefore plays on the edge but then is super relaxed and a sound bloke off the field. Great episode, great podcast.
Simply one of the best podcasts I have ever l watched on here as an Englishman I thought I had a preconceived idea of what Johnny Sexton was like completely change my opinion what a top bloke I’m not a top player fantastic it doesn’t always have to be a laugh a minute on these podcasts that was really insightful and I hope he gets on the tour for the Lions when it eventually happens One of the best Number teens do you ever play the game I go to Twickenham quite a lot with my carer and I always have nervous when we play Ireland because I know he’s going to have a good gameFantastic player
he speaks as well as he plays .... very composed and honest .... his journey shows that the leinster and irish system is so productive that perhaps you don't need to be flogged, as the english boys are, through the academies and national age groups .... how many of the u16s/u18s/u20s english boys don't actually make the senior national side in england but instead are burnt up, chewed up and spat out in comparison to ireland (and wales) where players appear to be allowed to develop and mature into their early 20s .... sexton has shown that hard work, talent, timing and a bit of luck gave him the platform he needed and he has never looked back becoming a multi trophy winning and 2018 world player of the year !
Brilliant...again...my favourite time of the week is sitting with the headphones in watching this podcast. Although how Hask gets on every road trip is beyond me 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lads. Just a quick note that say that I listen and love your podcast at 2.30 in the morning as I always wake up around that time for a toilet break. The joys of getting old. Great interview with Johnny.
Met Johnny in Carton House a few years ago, genuinely one of the soundest men you'll meet, completely floored me how genuine and nice the man is, seeing how quiet and emotional he is on TV is nothing to how the man truly is! #IrishKing
A fantastic sentiment at the end for the fallen sergeant and the other officer struggling down south. On behalf of the thin blue line, it is very much appreciated and makes me love this show/the game even more 😎👍💙❤️💚🌹. Keep up the great work. This was a great insight into Johnny Sexton. What a nice guy. Guess his competitive nature is what gives people misconceptions about him. Keep up the great interviews, guys!
Does not have to be a laugh a minute every week, as much fun as that is, to be fascinating. Other than as a player on the pitch, knew next to nothing about Johnny Sexton - I echo Naughtius Maximus, "absolutely sound bloke" (as well as top, top player)
Was keen to hear his thoughts and insights on the World Cup. 2018 was such a great year for Ireland, would love to hear where he thinks things went wrong in 2019.
It must be crippling to be a talisman for Irish rugby. Rugby is small in Ireland. When Ireland started winning (the last say 15 years) the success gets pinned on that talisman and the sport, nationwide, grows with that success and talisman. When Ireland is losing, the sport itself loses popularity. People fall off the bandwagon. Johnny seems smart enough to know and recognise that not only does the weight of expectation land on his shoulders for success on the field but the success of the sport in general in Ireland.
Another excellent podcast and great to read that people have warmed to a driven character now that they've seen the man behind it. A bit of craic and a whole lot of fascinating chat. A great guest when you ask a brief pointed question and they eloquently answer broadly over 2 or 3 minutes. Not many sports have protagonists with the capability. Keep up the good work lads. PS In Australia, Faz & Seanie were the other side of the pool in the jacuzzi. I could see them looking around agitated but mainly confused. I walk around and ask "lads would you feel better if the bubbles were on? I know I would because this looks very wrong" Laughing they agree and I press the small but very obvious stainless-steel button right beside them and she fires up. We all have a good chuckle about it. Sean's a farmer so an excuse but Faz???
Top notch as per usual. Munster boy now likes S@it C%&T Leinster Lad. I thank his wife profusely for delivering three boys to drive him crazy. Great one and a half hours. Thank you all.
@Alex Payne - have you noticed how the quality has improved tenfold since doing these shows virtually? Was watching an old episode with Paul Doran Jones and it was dreadful, think having Haskell in physical contact with him just brought out his worst character traits
Yeah Tindall is quite bitter towards Ireland alright more than likely because for the vast majority of his England career he was on the losing end against Ireland.
Ah that explains it. That is a fair reason I guess not to like a team. I myself love the Irish more than the English but I do Ike this batch of England players
This interview wouldn't work with Tindall for obvious reasons and would more then likely be a dumpster fire by the end. Alex and Haskell did a fantastic job with Haskell knowing him quite well and Alex's experience.
Is Alex sometimes embarrassed about the press behaviour when they twist or plainly lie to get a good story?? Sure he has stories about players that have never been revealed by the press as well and circle within press numbers, but, was just wondering!!
Haskell is such a ‘ narcissistic bully “ , he was actually out of order talking about the blokes “ beast eyes “ , that was low not banter ! Haskell is z list , same as his mrs smh
I’ll be honest - I thought this weeks show was boring and as much as I think sexton is a decent guy, and a fine 10, I’m totally underwhelmed by his personality. In stark contrast to the stuff you were saying last week about rugby needing personalities that transcend the sport... this weeks guest’s dulcet tones had me switching off. There are way more positive than negative comments here so I’m definitely in the minority but if I want to be bored I’ll go and listen to Andy Goode talk himself in circles with his lanky Scottish mate. And if I want interesting, funny and insightful content I’ll come here but this week feel just a little unfulfilled.
One of my favourite podcasts. I will admit to not being the biggest Sexton fan. But, found him to be open, honest and a really interesting man who knows his own mind. Needless, to say I have changed my opinion and hope to see him playing top level rugby for a few more years.
The interaction between Haskell and Johnnie and seanie shows one of the values of the lions
Johnny reminds me a bit of Mike Brown, someone who is really passionate and wants to win so badly and therefore plays on the edge but then is super relaxed and a sound bloke off the field. Great episode, great podcast.
That was absolutely brilliant. Johnny Sexton what a guy, very insightful and honest. Well done to everyone involved.
Thanks Will! 👍

Seriously good guest, one of those guys who is normally very quiet
What a man. Never seen Alex and Hask so love struck before :D :D
What an insight into the mentality of one of the top FH of our generation.
Very interesting
FANTASTIC Podcast. Johnny looked and sounded so relaxed, I can't wait to see him fired up again today against Italy.
Always rated sexton as a player.rate him even higher now.great listen.
An absolute legend and truly lovely humble guy when you meet him in the flesh. Glad people get to see this other side of him.
Brilliant...again...my favourite time of the week is sitting with the headphones in watching this podcast. Although how Hask gets on every road trip is beyond me 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Glad you enjoyed it!
I never saw Johnny interviewed besides post match. Really good guest.
Brilliant interview with a fantastic guest!! Well done
Lads. Just a quick note that say that I listen and love your podcast at 2.30 in the morning as I always wake up around that time for a toilet break. The joys of getting old. Great interview with Johnny.
A great guest and good interview style from alex and hask

nice that you caught up.
got to be pain on the bum being followed by the media, especially if your nature is otherwise.
Such interesting chat! Really appreciate the openness of both Johnny and Hask.
Absolute quality, week in, week out!!
Can’t thank you enough for bringing us this content!!
Keep up the great work!!
Glad you enjoy it Michael!

Here we are in 2022/2023 as he's nominated for World Player again. Unreal.
GBR coming up with absolute bangers of podcasts here. Unreal guests.
Really enjoyed this alot of people will have a different view of Jonny after this. Top bloke
Another top guest and show. Thanks.
This was a great insight into Johnny Sexton. What a nice guy. Guess his competitive nature is what gives people misconceptions about him. Keep up the great interviews, guys!
Brilliant to get an insight into who i assumed was a very quiet bloke, who'd have thought he was good mates with Hask.
Absolutely brilliant episode
Love this podcast ..every week is a belter chaps🙌🙌
Glad you enjoy it!
Brilliant pod boys. Somehow you’ve taken it up a notch since house of rugby, not quite sure how though! Keep up the good work!
Absolute class! Nice to get a peak behind the iron curtain
Brilliant honest conversations...wonderful to hear.
Worth watching for Haskells impression of Sean O' Brien
Didn’t realise a hoodie could look so good... on Alex Payne of course!

Another excellent guest, keep up the great job guys.
I enjoyed that as much as they did😊
Was keen to hear his thoughts and insights on the World Cup. 2018 was such a great year for Ireland, would love to hear where he thinks things went wrong in 2019.
a smashing interview. learned a lot from the chat. in fairness very honest conversation. the media spotlight I'd imagine is hard to get used to.
Thanks ladzzz really enjoyed it ... as usual.
Missed one of the beeps 😂
Yeah, I spotted that! They bleeped the first C bomb!
Modest legend
A proper legend.
It would be nice to hear from Brad Barritt for one of your interviews guys especially after all those years at Saracens

Sorry I didn’t quite catch what Hask called Mr Sexton. Could u repeat just a few million more times 😂😂
Really interesting i enjoyed that 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
New Quote for the Merch: “Do you know what I mean...?”
Top notch as per usual. Munster boy now likes S@it C%&T Leinster Lad. I thank his wife profusely for delivering three boys to drive him crazy.
Great one and a half hours. Thank you all.
Johnny great to hear all you had to say....
He came across very well, top stuff
Brilliant pod
Thanks Ian!
That was quality
Great episode gents 👌
This seems like every extra second was cut and the playback is like 1.05x speed. Why not release it in two parts if there is so much content?
@Alex Payne - have you noticed how the quality has improved tenfold since doing these shows virtually? Was watching an old episode with Paul Doran Jones and it was dreadful, think having Haskell in physical contact with him just brought out his worst character traits
Dark horse lions capt.
No chance he won’t be there last year stated to look his age and past it

Aboy Johnny boy

10:51 amazing 😅
Hi new love Rugby
Hows this only got 800 views ?
It will shoot up pal
very modest
I do. I know what you mean.
The Lord was the only one who disliked this because he doesn't like Ireland 😂

Haskell seems like a very smart and intelligent person for a "meat head "
@@patrickpenton698 Yeah hes been great on this show.
The amount of pike I’ve caught while listening to this video
Hask sounds like he has had a few!!??
Is Alex sometimes embarrassed about the press behaviour when they twist or plainly lie to get a good story?? Sure he has stories about players that have never been revealed by the press as well and circle within press numbers, but, was just wondering!!
👍
Shame he's going to miss the match this weekend.
Sexton definitely hates kids haha
Haskell is such a ‘ narcissistic bully “ , he was actually out of order talking about the blokes “ beast eyes “ , that was low not banter ! Haskell is z list , same as his mrs smh
Old crybaby lol

He is just being himself, not trying too hard. People with lots of personality tend to divide opinion anyway.
How do u guys get so effing boring.
Current players will never be too open - have to wait till they retire but even then many still keep true opinions to themselves
Why does this crap continually appear on my UA-cam
Because you comment on it
