I remember several years ago there was an old man that was complaining to the parish priest that there were too many children talking and crying and that is was "very distracting." Father didn't miss a beat, he said, "I have a feeling that most of your distractions are internal."

Any Roman Catholic parish which resembles even in the slightest, a Protestant faith community is not truly Roman Catholic. We need to return to our true Catholic roots, and offer to God the extra ordinary form of the Holy Mass and step away from the ordinary form. God deserves an offering to Him in thanksgiving high solemn liturgies.

PLEASE add:Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church and Shrine in Santa Clara California. We have 4 Masses daily with confessions at all Masses except at the 6:30am Mass. On Sunday, we have 7 English Masses and 1 Spanish Mass with confessions except at the 6:30am Mass. We have 24hours Adoration for 45 years. Starting in May we have the Fatima Mass and Procession until October 13. We have Adult and children Consecration to Mary by St. Louis de Montfort, Family Conferences, Summer Children Oratory. There are many vocations from this beautiful Church. The priests are from the order of the Institute of the Incarnate Word, IVE. There are 8 sisters that are from the Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matara. The priests celebrate the holy Mass with utmost reverence, the daily homilies are well prepared and beautiful. The priests and sisters work very hard but they always take the time to talk and be with the parishioners. They are all a beautiful example of God’s LOVE! It is like Heaven on Earth! 🙏❤️😇

Baltimore has far fewer people than it did in 1950 and much of its population now consists of people who are not historically Catholic. Florida and Texas as everyone knows are booming states. Prior to the new parish opeming, we did qualify as a mega church, and we have many of this size just in my diocese of San Jose. And to answer his last question, yes Iove large churches! They are active and interactive with always something going on. And yes, the masses themselves are still quite reverent.

Jealous of the churches that have enough priests to hold daily masses. Many areas of the US have to share priests and those priests have to travel 80 plus miles daily to just touch base weekly with the parish. My church used to have daily mass and 3 masses on Sunday. We now share 3 priests for 6 parishes covering a radius of 100 miles. We get 3 weekly masses, confessions for one hour on Wednesday/ Saturday and two Sunday masses. For those blessed with enough priests to minister to your parish daily …cherish it

The traditional Latin Mass church in our area is full every Sunday.
Communion at the railing, the priest places the host on your tongue. You don't chew the host. It dissolves in your mouth. No lay people on the alter. Its holy.
The priest faces the curifix, not the parishioners. He is truly interacting with GOD. We are silent. We are witnessing the appearace of GOD. No singing, or noise. Your head is covered.

    • @jeannehall6546
      @jeannehall6546 3 дні тому +6

I attended Latin Mass once- only to leave it totally confused! The Choir was in the gallery doing its thing, The priest and his men were up in front doing their thing, And the people were in the pews quietly praying with seemingly little to no awareness, and not even caring of what else is going on around them! No sense of unity or community or communication between
anything or any one! If the Mass is supposed to be the official public prayer of the Church, shouldn’t everybody be in unity with each other?
Not only that, But even with the English translation in the missal, I couldn’t keep up with what was going on! What was I supposed to be one with exactly? What were they doing? I got no guide on it at all and no one was around or even willing to help me!
The next day I attended a Mass at a Lithuanian cultural Center close to my home (I was living in Illinois at the time.) There, it was done in the Ordo Missae form (NOT “Novus Ordo”! It’s really “Ordo Missae” according to Fr. Peter M.J. Stravinskas). Everything was orderly, easy to follow along- the priest led, the people responded accordingly, there was unity and community involved throughout- and I don’t know a word of Lithuanian!
Another thing- I have attended Byzantine, Maronite and Anglican Ordinariate Liturgies in the Catholic Belief. None of those who attend those liturgies on a regular basis even care how everyone else worships! But those that attend Tridentine Latin Mass regularly have this attitude of that liturgy is the only right one, everything else be condemned, especially “Ordo Missae”! That doesn’t sound very Christlike to me!
I’ll never attend Tridentine Latin Mass again!

We had the TLM “traditional Latin mass“ at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Austin, Texas, and of ALL the masses offered. It was the most well attended. The bishop decided to terminate it and replace it with the ordinary mass. And because of this one action, he caused the termination of millions of dollars of funding to various Catholic institutions.

@@jeannehall6546 The TLM is known for being meditative and not for community hand shaking. Mass is supposed to be about God, not community. It is worship of God, after all. There is plenty of time outside of Mass for community. During Mass, we are united in faith and the Eucharist which is true Catholic unity. Unity is not about hand shaking or talking to our neighbor during Mass. The TLM draws thousands of young and old alike with full Mass attendance as well as young men filling the traditional seminaries and young women in traditional religious orders. I'm sorry that you didn't get it.

Why is there no review of the Traditional Latin Mass parishes? They may not have the absolute numbers, but priestly vocations are disproportionate. No 'kumbaya' music there.
And don't make the mistake of confusing numbers, with holiness and fidelity. Not saying that the 10 reviewed are not. Just saying that Protestant mega churches fill football stadiums, but no Eucharist, just singing, dancing, and long sermons without clear doctrine. Numbers don't mean anything. As Abp Fulton Sheen said - on Good Friday the Catholic Church was down to 5 - Jesus, Mary, John and 2 other women. All the others had fled.

As I look at the pictures of the Catholic congregations in America, I see a predominance of grey or white hair!!
Young people refuse to come to church once they leave the family nest.
Sitting in a church, watching a ceremony for an hour, done by a priest is the key to the lock that keeps heaven shut to non Mass goers!
Strictly from the Middle Ages and that is the problem why young people stop going to church!
God is our Father and He love His children. He gives them life to help his or her brothers and sister. We don't earn His love!
Ceremony, vestments, and scriptures are not more important to Jesus than people!!!

The church should be a place of peace where parishioners can enjoy the presence of the Lord not have to listen to someone elses children being allowed run amuck. Please parents, control your children when at mass. If they become unsettled take them outside until they're settled then bring them back inside. Disrupting the mass and especially the gospel and homily is unacceptable.

Many people don’t know that the name “Roman Catholic” was given to us by Protestants. But it has called itself the Catholic Church since St. Ignatius of Antioch. The name, Roman Catholic, is not the official name used by the Holy See, the central government of the Catholic Church in Vatican City. There it is called, the Church or the Catholic Church. If you go to Wikipedia, e.g., you will find it under, Catholic Church. The Roman term finds its origins in the 17th Century by members of the Church of England who also called it the Romish Church, Popist Church and called Catholics, papists. There are 24 autonomous churches in communion with the pope. There is the Roman Rite - Catholics in the Western World and the Eastern Rite - Catholics in Eastern churches who follow their own religious heritage traditions such as Maronite Catholics (many in Lebanon), Ukrainian Catholics and Chaldean Catholics (Middle East, Michigan). By 2050, 75% of Catholics will live outside the west.

DO NOT READ OUT LOUD IF YOU'RE CATHOLIC. I as an ex-Catholic, hereby declare that I have committed the act of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. I firmly state that I believe the Holy Spirit that Jesus talked about in the Bible stories to be nothing more than a demon. As a result, I acknowledge that I can never return to the Catholic Church through the sacrament of confession. From this day forward, if I attempt to go to confession to confess my sins in the Catholic Church, I recognize that I will only be confessing to a demon, for I have declared that the Holy Spirit is nothing more than a demon. This declaration is made of my own free will and is final.

27 Where is boasting then (relying on your own works to earn/deserve salvation)? It is excluded. By what law? of works? No: but by the Law of Faith. 28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law (works)."

14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
18 But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without [a]your works, and I will show you my faith by [b]my works. 19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe-and tremble! 20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is [c]dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? 22 Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made [d]perfect? 23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was [e]accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God. 24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.
25 Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way?
26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
