How much advantage is gained by using clip-in pedals instead of flat pedals? I did some research on this. View the surprising results here:

It really is! Glad you liked the ride. Really nice when it is closed to car traffic.

YAY! Cycling without traffic!! Unless you count numerous cyclists, sundry hikers & one stroller. What a stunning ride!🚵‍♂️ THANK YOU once again for making the SCENIC videos available to us. 👏🏻👍🏻

I rode that pass a few years back on the RMCC Denver -Aspen one day ride. 202 miles and over 13,000' in elev gain. 14 hours flat. Not even sure they do that ride anymore...It was epic.

Did my second ride with you just now. I liked it even more this time.
The Good Lord willing and the creek don’t rise I will do Independence Pass on my bike sometime this year.

Excellent! Need to do it before Memorial Day because once they open the road to traffic it's not as much fun. Use an e-bike if you can. It is a tough ride without an e-bike. Rent one if you have to.

Another perfect ride . Brings back 1960's memories when I was a Denver University student driving the old narrow dirt road to Aspen

Thank you. The road was built in its current location in 1927 and it was paved in 1967.

You started from above the highest mountain in Australia , My Kosciuszko @ 7309 ft (2228 meters) then kept going.
Well done, kudos from Melbourne Australia.

I was a little concerned about the altitude because this past winter I noticed I was struggling a bit while cross-country skiing at 10,000 ft. Finally decided I was struggling because my shoulders were not up to par because I spent the summer cycling instead of paddling. On this bike ride I noticed my heart rate was higher than expected for the effort I was making. I guess it was the altitude that caused the higher heart rate. Overall it was an enjoyable ride and I had no trouble with the altitude.

Thank you very much. My first crossing of that pass was in 1963ish, in a truck. Lots of paving has been done since then. What a beautiful ride it is today. Now on my list to do yet this year. THANK YOU!!!

I've lived in western Colorado for 37 years and this was my first time over Independence Pass. I was surprised at how spectacular it is! Regret that my video will never be able to do it justice. Glad you enjoyed. I sure enjoyed the ride.

Hey Jerry, riding Independence via Jerry ❤❤❤ for my 3rd time. I won’t make it in person this summer like I had planned. She is still #1 on my “Ride before I Die” bucket list.
The price of gas has me home bound. 😢. Maybe 2024.5.

I had hoped to ride it again this past summer with my new camera but never got around to it. I'll try next Spring.
