I love listening to Ronnie sing, but at the same time I have a sadness from not hearing Roy.

I've been looking for anything by Moira Anderson for over 20 years with no luck. I fell in love with her songs in grammar school

I have always loved this version of The Bonnie Earl O' Moray. I love this song and love it's history. I found a bit of a different version many years ago and do like it also. It is a bit more modern, but I still love the song and I can hear the similarities in the tune if I listen closely. Thank you for your upload. Ronnie Browne is certainly a true treasure!

Thanks for the kind words. I've always thought that the sound didn't have to be bad, or the instrumentals badly played in order to be "authentic". If you've any pointers to other early versions of Scots tunes, I'd like to hear of them. When I read history, I like to read original sources, for the same reason.

I don't think it's correct to say that Ronnie's songs after Roy's death, if that's what people are saying here, were more "authentic" than the ones they did together.. I've also heard people say that the songs Roy sang were more authentic. I guess it depends on your definition, but as the Corries and as part of the the Corrie Folk Trio (which also did this one), Ronnie and Roy did many types of songs together, some traditional and some more crowd pleasing, and almost all of them were beautiful.

Makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up every time I listen to this. I suspect that Ronnie's songs are older forms, and less adapted to the "pub" atmosphere than those he sang with Roy. I loved the ones he sang with Roy, but I honestly believe that for authenticity, Ronnie's are better.

I found that James Stewart, 2nd Earl of Moray, is my 12th Great-Grandfather.
