If there is an approval from the state government, the state have no right to pull down the buildings, if they do, the owners must be compensated first before they can pull down the building.Arresting the officials is not good enough. From the videos, you can see some building opposite are spared, where not touched, even some on the same row, why is that? You can not demolish one building and skip the next one and not expect people to complain. There should not be state government, that's the problem, it should local government and federal like everywhere else in the world. Sending love and light. Thank you.

It is heart breaking to see someone life investment being demolished like that. The Lagos state government need to do better with their regulatory agencies. The need to sack some of their staff that approved the planning. My heart goes to the property owners.

It’s not stubbornness. Why the government /workers allow any structure in the first place? Nigeria 🇳🇬 is just not properly controlled by the people who are supposed to be there to make sure nothing is built on anywhere that is government owned or owned by someone else. We are the ones doing ourselves

LASG needs to change enforcement tactics. They need to change laws to reflect 3 things
    1. Fine for illegal construction (N50 million) 2. Cost of demolition at owners expense (eg. N10 million) 3. 5 year jail term. When you build illegally and it leads to financial ruin, and time in prison, they will stop

You guys are missing the point. Who sold or approved the area for building? The homeowners should take those real estate agents responsible for buying land for building in the area to court.

LASG needs to step up enforcements. Their calculation is that in Lagos, either you bribe or beg and they probably know others who did similar things and got away with it. If anyone thinks this is just a random behavior needs to wake up. And its always in Lagos, they never do this in Sokoto, Kaduna, or Jos....

Lagos people need to wake up. Their calculation is that if they built 25 houses, by the time LASG removes 5 and they set loose their UA-cam channels with people wailing and Ohaneze intervention, LASG will leave the rest. That is how they ended up with houses in premium areas like Ikeja, Lekki, Ajah, etc. They even boast about it, that they pushed Yorubas to Ikorodu, Epe, etc

Let the Igbos be wise. The Igbos own over 60% of SMEs, pay over 60% of custom duties, and VAT in Lagos. They should plan and leave Lagos. Their governors should float a diaspora bond to develop the southeast port. The igbos in diaspora remit over $18b annualy to Nigeria. This demolition started after the elections. All these spins do not add up. Let this serve as a wake-up call like the 20 pounds policy. Invest in your region and outside the country.
