I've gotten stuck on coasters a bunch of times and having all my coaster knowledge that's stuck in my brain, I usually like to look around and calm the people who panic. Happened on a lifthill once and I had a full blown nerd moment where I explained to someone, who was having a panic attack, how lifthills work and why it's impossible for us to roll backwards even if the chain rips apart. Other than that, I sit and hope I don't have to go to the bathroom anytime soon in case it takes longer than a few minutes xD Recently I got stuck in a dark coaster and all the lights went on so I looked around like ":O" and the guy next to me started to try and calm me down. I wasn't anxious at all, I know my coasters and how they work but it was a really nice gesture.
I got texts from my sister months ago when my family was at Kings Island after they got off of Orion. They were stuck on the lift hill for about 10-15 minutes. I instantly texted back either something happened that the next section wasn't clear, error with sensors causing a stop, etc.
Kudos for calming strangers down on rides! If you want to count it as a coaster, my mom got stuck on Gringott's at Univeral once. She was a single rider so she was with a dad and two little kids. Not only did the ride stop but they turned the lights on signaling that it would be awhile before they got moving. The two little kids started freaking out and the dad wasn't sure how to calm them down. My mom leaned over and gently told them that nothing bad was going to happen and, with the lights on, started pointing out various mechanisms and showing the kids how the ride works. By the time the ride started up again the kids were disappointed that they couldn't see the mechanics anymore
I've been at Busch Gardens a few times when a thunderstorm hit. Well in advance of the storm hitting, they start making an announcement warning guests to prepare for potential severe weather. And when the storm is still like 10-15 minutes away, the announcement becomes "due to severe weather, all ride operations are temporarily suspended, please seek shelter immediately"
Why I stopped on Leviathan's lift hill last summer: PUT YOUR PHONE AWAY. Sometimes ride stoppages arent even related to the technology of the ride itself but the stupidity of humans.
Yeah I wish I could say we didn't allow that in the great not so white everywhere right now north but I'm pretty sure I had my phone zipped up in my coat pocket.
I can say as a ride op, probably the most common cause for ride stoppages we experience come down to guest action in some way. Of course, it's far from the only reason for a delay, but it's a significant factor. Always follow the rules and be aware of what's happening around you when at an attraction - one poor decision from a guest can cause a pretty significant delay for the x-hundred others waiting in line!
I wish I could do that 🤣 but at la ronde we are not allowed to do this, we just have to SCREAM into the lift speaker, and that speaker is veeeeery loud, people on boomerang can hear it
That day I was playing Roller coaster Tycoon 2 and looked up what a block brake did was the thing that broke my fear of roller coasters.q There will always be misinformation out there but channels like yours, El Toro Ryan, Theme Park Crazy, etc. are all why I was able to go to Cedar Point and enjoy what I was missing out on for years of my life. I think entertainment has its place but the biggest crime is dressing entertainment up as fact. That is what truly hurts people more often than any theme park ever could.
even with block breaks, operator error can cause an accident like what happened on The Smiler at Alton Towers, poorly trained staff did a manual override without realising a train had valleyed...
Presenting entertainment as fact has probably played a major role in the shitty state of affairs the politics of many countries are in today. It is incredibly dangerous in general and it should be illegal for mainstream media to do this. If you want to prioritise entertainment over presenting facts, you should be obliged to make it clear that you are not a news reporter or educator.
Yes, try and keep your heart rate and blood pressure stabile. You can usually do this by thinking of happy memories, keeping you mind anchored on 1 thought at a time, and actively thinking about keeping your muscles relaxed. Not all of this is needed, but it would apply especially when upside down. If all else fails, ask your fellow riders about something they are really interested in, especially if they are anxious. Not everyone can stay calm, so you should always try and help, it will keep you both calm.
Years back my cousin got stuck on a coaster style ride. It was called The Toboggan, and it would go up a tunnel then spin around the outside of the tunnel. It stuck just as they were midway going up the tunnel and the repair guys were quick to get to work but she had a panic attack. I still remember the repair guys working while telling her 'It's okay, we'll get you out'.
0:45 they seem to have issues in their animation department. The track is no inversion but a non inverting loop. The train is somehow suddenly riding on the backbone of the track. No wonder it gets stuck…
The only times I’ve got stuck on rollercoaster have been when someone else on the ride was doing something dangerous such as rocking the carriage or something and they purposefully stopped it, in those cases they just told the people to stop and the dangers of it, then they start the ride again, or take them off the ride if they continue or if is easy to remove them
While I can appreciate them at least giving one good piece of advice (stay put and don't mess with your restraint) that is the only actual helpful and informative bit. And that's exactly what you should do in this situation, no matter where you are stuck. Stay put and wait for someone to come tell you what is going to happen, which will usually be either an average evacuation from a place designed to evacuate you from, or that they're going to evacuate you some other way, or in some cases, they'll just advance you to the save evacuation zone, but that's relatively rare. In almost every case you will already be on the safe evacuation zone. People end up evacuated almost every day because of some minor issue. If a ride stops on the lift hill, there's a decent chance some dingaling took their phone out and someone is coming to confiscate it for everyone's safety. It is scary to get stopped, but you are safe and in good hands that will help you.
So I got 20 seconds in and immediately remembered why I unsubbed infographics. You didnt even say the name of channel, I just remembered how terrible their advice got over time, and it wasnt always bad.
And bright side, i used to think their vids were legit and there was some discovered land animal that is larger than a blue whale, and to nobody's suprise, it was not real. And one time, because both they did not disclose that the backrooms was not real, and my past self being a gullible dumb*ss, i was scared for like 4 months, and never listened to a song for that amt of time, how tf was i that goddamn gullible.
You should see some of the 'advice' videos for aircraft emergencies. "The seats in the Boeing 747 couldn't pass an automotive inspection!!!" they shriek. The seats in a 747 aren't installed in automobiles. Also... I wouldn't say that a roller-coaster train doesn't have brakes, just that it only has half of a functioning brake system... It has (effectively) brake rotors, but no brake pads.
This does make me wonder how you *do* evacuate people stuck upside down. It seems like a pretty difficult operation. Like obviously as a rider the rules are the same as usual - don't panic, stay put, follow instructions - but there must be plans for how to do that if it becomes necessary due to mechanical issues, right?
I actually plan visits to my local park on days it’s supposed to rain in the afternoon to avoid crowds, and I know that at least there they use weather bug to keep track of lightning. It’s also fun to ride metal coasters in the rain imo, if you can get past the feeling of rain pelting your face you’ll notice the trains actually move faster

I have two somewhat interesting story’s one we were stopped on the final brakes of pantheon because the system would not allow what would have been the last train of the night to dispatch and what seemed like every 30 seconds for the next 15 minutes they were chucking if we were okay which was weird because we stopped where we normally would have and being not okay would make no difference as maintenance was already on the way. Another day I was at kings dominion and there was visible lightning and i305 remained open

Ran into a comment on another channel on some roller coaster accident where they asked why didn’t the train stop immediately after someone got thrown. I think these videos do more harm than good. They are fear mongering and spread misinformation for clicks.

I've only been stuck on a ride once and it was on the brake run of Shambhala, stuck there for ~5-10 minutes before the ride started working again and I could exit via the station
Roller coaster trains have no brakes? That is true 99% of rollercoasters. There are still few roller coasters that have brakemen on the train. We have one here in Finland at Linnanmäki and I think Tivoli in Denmark had another.
True. There's one in the UK that's absurdly old that has brakes operated by someone on the roller coaster itself. There are no brakes on the track at all.
Is it just me or did anyone notice that the loop drawn in the infographic video is a non-inverting loop like the one found on Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit?
Notice the language they love to use (same as media coverage) is almost always "trapped", which imo comes with a lot of negative connections. Sounds a lot less interesting if you just say it stopped and people were evacuated, and instead EVERYONE WAS TRAPPPED OMG.
thrill rides are tricky, because their appearance is daunting and they appear unsafe to the general public, having major mainstream channels spout nonsense about ride safety for views wont really help this view at all "make sure you do your research if this ride has gotten stuck before" just makes people more scared about a mundane lifthill stop, plus this general trend of these channels painting the picture of getting stuck upside down when you can count the number of times that has happened on one hand is just getting people more worried about potentially being stuck upside down for hours. its fearmongering, if there's any industry that likes doing this, its mainstream media, it gets people scared of coasters, in turn they'll watch more videos about ride incidents, and then those channels get more views because those people wanna know more about ride safety
"Coaster trains DO NOT have brakes!" Many do not, but there are exceptions to the rule. "Alpine Coasters" and "Scenic Railway" coasters (such as the one in Melbourne, Australia, which has the record of being the second oldest operating roller coaster in the world) both have manually-operated, train mounted brake systems (except at the end of the ride, where stopping a train quickly if the train-mounted brakes fail is a must.) I'm certain you already know of these exceptions, but I thought it wise to point it out, as not doing so is misleading in and of itself.
As a ride operator who has operated coasters before... what was the first presenter's plan for when those "ropes attached to it to keep it oriented correctly" encounter the support structure of the attraction? The track isn't free-floating... Also the misinformation in the original videos did so very much psychic damage to me. Two minutes of research was really too much for them, huh?
If stuck upside down on a roller coaster, instruct your fellow riders to lean backwards and forwards like you're on a swing set until you move enough that gravity eventually forces the coaster back down the inversion loop.
isn't that Coaster Bot in one of the shots? he would be severely disappointed if he saw this shit (I'm not talking about your video. keep up the good work)
Oh god not the infographics show...Called them out on Twitter for copying someone elses SCP content and they got really annoyed about it but that's all they do! paraphrase and churn out content with that crappy artstyle they always use!
To be honest the 2 videos that you showed from the two channels that I saw are compleat nonsense and I have watched one of the videos that you have shown in the past and it's very rare that you would get stuck on a inversion on a rollercoaster ride because of a rollercoaster where to mouth function the block bracks would automatically stop the train halfway across the ride
Maybe I just wasnt paying attention, but I'm confused. Did those two videos actually have any bad advice? It was mostly just incorrect information about how you’ll get out, and I guess a bit of unnecessary advice/overkill in regards to not being the first to ride and stuff. Did I miss the part that actually tells you to do the wrong thing?
The sheer amount of fear mongering and disinformation about roller coasters is insane. All those “would you ride this” videos or armchair engineers who know nothing about these complex machines, making others scared. I’ve even had a coworker years ago who went to Cedar Point tell me they didn’t ride Dragster because it “swayed too much.” They claimed to be an engineering student and that the swaying meant it could fall over. I told them to reread their textbooks on very tall structures and that inflexible, rigid structures are more likely to break under high stress. Must have blown their mind to learn that skyscrapers sway.
Also idk if it’s a copyright thing (not trying to sound picky) but the CC logo in the center of the screen IN MY OPINION is a little distracting. I’d much rather just be looking at the coasters in the background. One persons thought lol take it with a grain of salt
@@JordanOverstreet Thanks for the feedback, funny enough on the last video I had people reach out asking to add some kind of visual indicator for when I'm talking. I guess this isn't it. I'll change it up next time!
Click bait and fear mongering is what these videos are… I love roller coasters, from riding them to learning and understanding the engineering behind them… and when I hear some of the nonsense people hear and believe it drives me nuts.
Seems to me that the script is written based on some google searches and send to an animation department without much further communication. So the script already contains some errors because the writers didn't understand what they found. And the issues get worse because the animators have to guess what they need to draw based solely on the text they received.
I was stuck on most every coster i been on demon at sfgm a water ride i most get stuck it be like 50/50 i not get stuck and i do but idc how it got stuck more time in the park XD.
Cheap, content farm 'entertainment' channels that brand themselves as educational or factual sources are one of my least favourite types on the platform. In my opinion, it's becoming a real problem in society in general - people aren't interested in facts or experiences from people with real industry experience, they just want quick, clickbait stories.
title seems misleading, the videos get a lot wrong but the one thing they are both correct on is what you should do if you're stuck on a coaster, that being wait for help and for the love of god don't try to undo your restraints. so by calling it what not to do you're saying I should try to get out by myself?

Never gotten stuck on any big amusement ride
Sounds a lot less interesting if you just say it stopped and people were evacuated, and instead EVERYONE WAS TRAPPPED OMG.
thrill rides are tricky, because their appearance is daunting and they appear unsafe to the general public, having major mainstream channels spout nonsense about ride safety for views wont really help this view at all
"make sure you do your research if this ride has gotten stuck before" just makes people more scared about a mundane lifthill stop, plus this general trend of these channels painting the picture of getting stuck upside down when you can count the number of times that has happened on one hand is just getting people more worried about potentially being stuck upside down for hours. its fearmongering, if there's any industry that likes doing this, its mainstream media, it gets people scared of coasters, in turn they'll watch more videos about ride incidents, and then those channels get more views because those people wanna know more about ride safety
I ain’t gonna say which channel the first one is but
Let’s just say this video is justified
I knew that the Infographics Show was bad, I didn’t realize it was that bad
"Coaster trains DO NOT have brakes!"
Many do not, but there are exceptions to the rule. "Alpine Coasters" and "Scenic Railway" coasters (such as the one in Melbourne, Australia, which has the record of being the second oldest operating roller coaster in the world) both have manually-operated, train mounted brake systems (except at the end of the ride, where stopping a train quickly if the train-mounted brakes fail is a must.)
I'm certain you already know of these exceptions, but I thought it wise to point it out, as not doing so is misleading in and of itself.
Keep up the great work! What is your home park?
Cedar Point!
If you're stuck upside down, gravity has already been nulled.
That will only work if there hasn't been a mechanical failure.
isn't that Coaster Bot in one of the shots? he would be severely disappointed if he saw this shit (I'm not talking about your video. keep up the good work)
Merry Christmas Brennan
Oh god not the infographics show...Called them out on Twitter for copying someone elses SCP content and they got really annoyed about it but that's all they do! paraphrase and churn out content with that crappy artstyle they always use!
the fact that i trust the infographics show so much 😭
they were more info then entertainment before, now they seem just like money printing machines
@@sarcarsm7113 almost every youtuber above 1mil is doing that right now.
@@sarcarsm7113 i’m glad i stopped watching them then
@@sandraestrada3295 yep, good decision, you missed out on literally nothing
To be honest the 2 videos that you showed from the two channels that I saw are compleat nonsense and I have watched one of the videos that you have shown in the past and it's very rare that you would get stuck on a inversion on a rollercoaster ride because of a rollercoaster where to mouth function the block bracks would automatically stop the train halfway across the ride
lol yeah I remember the animated story too
Man, that second one is a massive channel, out here spawing unresearched nonsense. I swear, this stuff infuriates me.
What's up with the oversized logo blocking over half of the video clips? Using others video without permission?
No, it's all my footage, other comments on past videos asked for me to make it more clear when I am talking vs the original video.
Info graphics is more like disinfo/missinfo graphics
Irony of telling people to do their research video maker hasn't
Lightning storm coming, let's stop a train full of passengers on top of the lift hill.
Correction; not ALL roller coaster trains have brakes, some do. Like brakeman coasters
Has Anyone Ever Died While The Train Was Stuck?
Not that I'm aware of
Maybe I just wasnt paying attention, but I'm confused. Did those two videos actually have any bad advice? It was mostly just incorrect information about how you’ll get out, and I guess a bit of unnecessary advice/overkill in regards to not being the first to ride and stuff. Did I miss the part that actually tells you to do the wrong thing?
1500 words on what not to do at a stop light
Be aware of lighting
Sure I'll try that
They must be prepared to cut restraints in case other emergency procedures fail.
they dont "cut" restraints, they use an emergency release
The sheer amount of fear mongering and disinformation about roller coasters is insane. All those “would you ride this” videos or armchair engineers who know nothing about these complex machines, making others scared.
I’ve even had a coworker years ago who went to Cedar Point tell me they didn’t ride Dragster because it “swayed too much.” They claimed to be an engineering student and that the swaying meant it could fall over. I told them to reread their textbooks on very tall structures and that inflexible, rigid structures are more likely to break under high stress. Must have blown their mind to learn that skyscrapers sway.
Love the video, not a huge fan of the music while you’re talking though.
I like Infographics, but not mentioning block zones is bad.🤦♂️
Click bait and fear mongering is what these videos are… I love roller coasters, from riding them to learning and understanding the engineering behind them… and when I hear some of the nonsense people hear and believe it drives me nuts.
YESSSSSSSSSSSS FINALLY N00B 2 PRO RIDER IS BACK!!!! GIGA COASTER IS SO FUNNY!!!!!!! PLEASE LAUGH
"Do your research."
How ironic coming from that video 😒
I know right
Back in my day you could look at dislikes to know these channels were bullshit.
I miss those days
Seems to me that the script is written based on some google searches and send to an animation department without much further communication. So the script already contains some errors because the writers didn't understand what they found. And the issues get worse because the animators have to guess what they need to draw based solely on the text they received.
Nah I Got Stuck On A Rollercoaster SOO FUNN
I HATE CLICK BAIT 😡
These videos have no place as entertainment because their BS can get in the way of people having fun.
4:01 Was that some antisemite stuff I just saw?
Lol wtf are you taking about
Those videos are terrible they seem to be made to stoke fear.
Coaster studios is better
There’s no way these aren’t AI generated videos 🙄
Both were from a few years ago, too old for AI imo
I don't appreciate the overtly antisemitic charicature at 4:06.
This is why we need the dislike button back!
I was stuck on most every coster i been on demon at sfgm a water ride i most get stuck it be like 50/50 i not get stuck and i do but idc how it got stuck more time in the park XD.
Nonsense
This is the most frustrating and least informed video on the internet
Cheap, content farm 'entertainment' channels that brand themselves as educational or factual sources are one of my least favourite types on the platform. In my opinion, it's becoming a real problem in society in general - people aren't interested in facts or experiences from people with real industry experience, they just want quick, clickbait stories.
These are the crappiest clickbait I’ve ever sat through, if you weren’t poking holes in it I wouldn’t be watching.
Can you please stop putting your channel logo over footage of coasters? It's really annoying..
title seems misleading, the videos get a lot wrong but the one thing they are both correct on is what you should do if you're stuck on a coaster, that being wait for help and for the love of god don't try to undo your restraints. so by calling it what not to do you're saying I should try to get out by myself?
