For about 20 years, all European car fuel gauges incorporate an arrow by the fuel pump symbol which shows the side on which the filler cap is located! There's one on the 918 too - it points left.

Top tip for telling which side the fuel goes in: there will either be an arrow pointing to the petrol pump symbol showing which side it goes in, or the hose on the petrol pump symbol shows which side it goes in

Funny thing I learnt from cars is on the dashboard the fuel icon has a very small arrow next to it and it means what side the fuel cap is on

Little tip Mr K. Look at your fuel gauge on the dash. You will see a little petrol pump pictured within the gauge. If the nozzle is on the left, the filling cap is left, on the right, then right. You’re welcome 👍😂
knew someone that recked their 918 by pulling the petrol nozzle to the wrong side, dripped on the hot engine and the whole car went up in flames
