Another advantage Takara had was that their versions were typically made later than the Hasbro versions, meaning they could alter the decoes to better match the cartoon models.
Funny you should mention Jurassic Park, I used to have a Raptor that made a sound, and I LOST IT, I was DEVESTATED. And no internet back then, so I probably spent what most people spend in a month in a week in phone calls, happy to get TM2, still have it. And the minute Kingdom version was released, I went to the store during my work lunch to buy him. Dinobot is the only BW character that I might buy a rerelease of; hell I almost bought the Masterpiece of him.
That Armada version from DInobots subline isn't a straight up repaint. They did actually make his swrod shorter so the tip of the sword doesn't stick out at the end.
Man, imagine they just woke up one day and said "let's give the Sky-Byte treatment to all the Transmetal 2 moulds"...a couple have been done by customizers, but we're still not there. Retools of Kingdom Dinobot would be cool.
That Thrustor retool would have made for a great "Cutting Edge" Cyber Raptor. Surprised funpub never took a a whack at it. Since they managed to dig up Dirgegun to make Thrustinator.
Man, I ordered 10th anniversary Dinobot a few years ago off EBay from ‘Las Vegas Toys in the Attic’, and not only did he never send the figure, he went ahead and ignored all my messages, and then blocked me. When I called the store, he blocked my number. What a great experience.
For what it's worth, TJ, I don't know about Transformers, but when you look at something like the Geats Raise Buckles, the price points are all over the place and aren't sold in assortments. Therefore they don't have to adhere to specific price points most of the time and the budget is a bit more flexible per item.
I'm kinda shocked we still don't have a talking Dinobot figure!( Who knows...maybe another Masterpiece release?). It be great to hear Scott McNeil's amazing voice behind our favorite bot!!
Excellent content! I remember turning my nose up at Dinotron since I already had the original Dinobot and BW Grimlock. After this video, I’m regretting that decision from 22 years ago! That’s a damn fine looking version of this mold. It’s also super expensive with sealed copies going for as much as MOSC cast member Beast Wars figures.
One of my favorite molds ever, and definitively the first transformer I remember wanting, back in 1997, when I was 4 years old. It took me 23 years to finally get ahold of it (fortunately, it's the original deco, the one I wanted and could've got as a kid). Though I don't think it's the best BW figure, one thing that make it stand out as a figure in general is the amount of articulation in the raptor mode: you can make every pose the JP raptors did in the films and no other raptor figure at the time rivaled it, which is a big deal, since it took 19 years for the Beast of the Mesozoic raptors (which are the first fully articulated raptors that I can think of) to came out, and it took JP 25 years to do their first official properly articulated raptors. Which means that from 1996 to 2018 this toy was the best articulated JP styled raptor figure one could buy (and a nice one in terms of poses one could achieve).
15:35, you can call him...Mr. Gimmick. 17:37, kinda like Beast Machines but without the preachiness tbh and sticking to the original season's mystery of the planet. I'm thinking the lucky draws are painted gold, not made gold but that's just me.
Already knew about all version of this mold but it was good to listen too, though there were a few facts i did not know. I have Fox Kids Dinobot sealed and Dinotron loose. Got Dinotron in a listing that also had Magmatron, T-Wrecks and Triceradon.
You know seeing how Legacy: evolution is gonna release Leo Prime, it would be pretty rad for Hasbro to take Kingdom Dinobot mold and heavy retool it into BWII Thrustor. I'll say though that Buzzworthy Bumblebee release of og BW toy painted Dinobot should have used Takara deco.
I feel like that Takara having more paint on the toys has to do with the country being smaller than the US; if China being closer had anything to do with it, it has to be happenstance
I would like to see a reissue of Dinobot in the BW reissue line would they go toy or show colours idk they flip flop with that in the reissue line. That and a tarantulus a show colour accurate reissue would be nice to have next to the legacy version
I was really hoping he would get a reissue, Dinobot and Waspinator were my first deluxe figures and 4th and 5th beast wars TF ever. My og one is missing the front toes on one foot and one of the pegs that holds the leg in place broke also lost the mutant head at some point...
Wonder if the current Hasbro team might reference all the other repaints with their Kingdom version (either as new characters or other versions of Dinobot).
I'm surprised they didn't just call dinotron the beast era incarnation of springer. I mean youve got the green, the yellow chest, a semi propellor as the tail... it would've been kinda perfect.
I don't think Sky-Byte is really that different from Cybershark and not nearly as good as the Cyberbeasts. Being color blind Cybershark and Sky-Byte look almost the same just some of their colors appear in different locations on the toy. Plus no part of either figure looks organic, he just looks like a fully robotic shark with battle damage due to the asymetrical design.
Another advantage Takara had was that their versions were typically made later than the Hasbro versions, meaning they could alter the decoes to better match the cartoon models.
Hasbro/Takara really needs to redo “Kingdom” Dinobot into Thrustor badly. I will buy that in a heartbeat.
I agree. I'd go for Hardhead and Dinotron also.
I'm just happy they gave us a new Grimlock. Though I do wish they did Dalmatian Raptor with it.
@@maximaldinotrap Indeed. Still better than the toy-accurate version, which, let’s be real, looks like a scrotum.
I kinda want to see TJ talk about the Beast Machines Dinobots.
And whit all of this different recolor options, hasbro did the raw chicken first, intresting desition
They did Grimlock first and then applied that retool’s head to chicken skin Dinobot
Next video, how many times was the seige Sideswipe mold used
Siege Sideswipe
Siege Red Alert
Siege “Covert Clone” Sideswipe
Collaborative Gigawatt
Netflix Sideswipe
Netflix Red Alert
Netflix Deep Cover
Selects Tigertrack
Selects Deep Cover
Kingdom Sideswipe
Kingdom Red Alert
and Legacy Clampdown
Out of all the old BW re-issues Hasbro's done, it is utterly a crime that Dinobot wasn't one of the first one's to be done.
either the original mold is lost or beyond repair.
@@Majinhero The Rattrap reissue was a new mold. Tho it being a simpler toy might have made it easier to recast than Dinobot
A feathered version could be a remold
Aww man, imagine Thrustor in Transmetal 2 Dinobots colors as a reinterpretation of the character.
Funny you should mention Jurassic Park, I used to have a Raptor that made a sound, and I LOST IT, I was DEVESTATED.

Retools of Kingdom Dinobot would be cool.
Not so much lofty in wanting a retool of Kingdom Dinobot into Thrustor, but more like Hasbro ain't got the balls to take a gamble on such obscurity.
If we’re seeing absolute nobodies like Nightprowler and Predacon Sandstorm on shelves, I don’t see why they wouldn’t do that.
Great video, my middle school bestie gave me the armada version as a gift way back when. How about a tier list of all the sub toy lines/gimmick lines?
The Dinobot mold definitely has an interesting history
TJ should do a history of Takara’s show accurate repaints
No matter the color scheme, sculpt, tooling or variant... We'll never forget our favorite Predacon with a Code of Honor 🎖!!!
That Thrustor retool would have made for a great "Cutting Edge" Cyber Raptor.
Surprised funpub never took a a whack at it. Since they managed to dig up Dirgegun to make Thrustinator.
My beast wars 10th Dinobot was diagnosed with GPS I lost one of his hand claws 😪
Man, I ordered 10th anniversary Dinobot a few years ago off EBay from ‘Las Vegas Toys in the Attic’, and not only did he never send the figure, he went ahead and ignored all my messages, and then blocked me. When I called the store, he blocked my number. What a great experience.
Thrustor(well all of the Cyber Beasts from Beast Wars II(btw it's pronounced second not two)) are in my Transformers to own list list.
I really, really thought this video would just be about repaints,so surprised that they did slight remolds
What a nice stroll down memory lane. :)
Took a while but I have all of these except Lucky Draw. Love them all. Some I can touch, others I leave for display.
You should talk about all the repaints of the original waspinator
For what it's worth, TJ, I don't know about Transformers, but when you look at something like the Geats Raise Buckles, the price points are all over the place and aren't sold in assortments. I believe the Kingdom mold would be done when Hasbro release every repaint or version of this mold.
The hatred i have for his robot mode design knows no bounds and its all for one small flaw that ruins it for me.
Are you gonna continue the Beast Wars episode reviews?
i wish grimlock appeared in a Japan beast wars show like neo or 2 especially alligator megatron and bat optimus
I only ever had one bot with GPS.
G1 Throttlebot Goldbug. His entire chest just disintegrated about 6 or so months after I got him
Already knew about all version of this mold but it was good to listen too, though there were a few facts i did not know. I have Fox Kids Dinobot sealed and Dinotron loose. Got Dinotron in a listing that also had Magmatron, T-Wrecks and Triceradon.

I hope we see so many repaints concept of Dinobot in the modern day
now do every version of machine wars megatron
I feel like that Takara having more paint on the toys has to do with the country being smaller than the US; if China being closer had anything to do with it, it has to be happenstance

Still praying for a Hardhead Retool of Kingdom Dinobot.
Great video. Love the beast wars content. Would love more. My fav thing about this mould was the mask!
I unironically want a new Dinotron figure
Really enjoyed this one
I was really hoping he would get a reissue, Dinobot and Waspinator were my first deluxe figures and 4th and 5th beast wars TF ever. My og one is missing the front toes on one foot and one of the pegs that holds the leg in place broke also lost the mutant head at some point...

Would you do a video on all g1 characters in beast wars or hinted at being g1 characters?
I'm surprised they didn't just call dinotron the beast era incarnation of springer. I mean youve got the green, the yellow chest, a semi propellor as the tail... it would've been kinda perfect.
Very enjoyable video
I feel there was another like 2 uses of this mold but I can't put a finger on what they were if they ever existed which they likely don't
ya know I remember having the reissue dinobot and airrazor
Oof, I'd never seen Hardhead before. Uh... I guess they tried.
And this, is why I don’t have a hammer on standby for terrible transformers figures. I just let my rider figures rider kick them.
14:40. Unofficial Fuzor? 😂🤣
what does gps mean
I have the Dalmatian version myself
I don't think Sky-Byte is really that different from Cybershark and not nearly as good as the Cyberbeasts.

The one dinobot i have besides kingdom is universe 2.0 one
Whery intresting listen too😊
👍
