OK so hey... Uhhh I got a problem that is when I record a vid it is completely fine and I get high fps and littereally no lag.... But when I go and watch it I get 2 fps... Pls respond to me
My issue is... When i play it dosent lag at all but when i whatch the gameplay it is very very lagy when i start shooting someone or when alot of action happends in the gameplay.
Thanks bro, my recordings have been laggy, choppy, and pixilated and you fix all my issues with OBS. great video. straight to the point and very informative. You got a new sub. Thank you!
hello everyone! I had a really bad lag issue and this video didn't fix it, HOWEVER I fixed it myself! if you're still experiencing lag go into settings > video > FPS and set it to around 20 make sure your downscale filter is at bicubic! I hope this helped!
do you know how to fix the problem where your game character looks wider in the video tho? i cant gameplay capture because it will show a black screen. so I use the display capture...
for anyone experiencing laggy video play, like the recordings are smooth, but when you come to play it turns out laggy, ITS NOT FROM OBS, its from your MEDIA PLAYER, try playing the video u recorded in VLC or MOVIES & TV instead, hope this helped!!
Saw an instant boost, actually a good tutorial, thank you for this, keep sharing your actual knowledge unlike the other 100's of copycat video talking about nothing for 30 minutes, great work!
This solved my issue perfectly, watched a few videos to try and solve my OBS lag on recordings (which was a new thing never had it happen before just randomly started) this cleared everything up. Thanks!
I was looking at the comments and here are some solutions I saw to fix lag and stutter when you’re done recording and watching the results of that recording (even tho the video shows you what to do to fix this) 1. Open OBS As Administrator 2. Go To: Settings - Output - Recording or Streaming (Depending On If You Stream Or record) And Test Out All Encoders One By One 3. Go To: Settings - Video - And Lower “Output (Scaled) Resolution” To Whatever Seems Fit. Since My Laptop Is Trash, I personally changed the encoder to “QuickSync H.264” And Changed My Video Resolution To 1280x720 and had no issues with lag or Stutter while recording. The recording also had no lag or stutter.
oh my god this fixed my problem so much thanks. before my videos had framerates as low as like 3fps and there was a lot of like messyness in the video i didnt know you could switch from cpu to gpu to record
What bitrate do u record at? The bitrate could be the "messiness". Ignore the youtubers who say 12-24 mbps bitrate is good enough because its trash. Record in 40+ mbps.
So many videos I watched... For weeks and you're the only person that Actually solved my stutter problem when going live on facebook.. you fix it.. well most of it since I still have a little stutter but I think its because my upload is 14mbps and im not hooked in the Ethernet and my macbook pro is mid 2012... 8 years old piece of potato.. but it's way way better than before.. before i cant even use the video. Subscribing.
When i go to output and streaming, there is no preset button for me, and i cant find it anywhere. Alot of buttons are missing for me even tho i have the latest version.
I don't know what the heck is wrong with my computer, I've tried multiple settings but it just didn't work it actually increased the lag. :c Right now I am trying to do it one last time and I am hoping it turns out smooth. Wish me luck :D Edit: Still didn't work OH GOSH WAYYY choppy.. im upset still :(

@@Bl8der81 for me recording it and stuff is smooth but it caps my game at 60fps (apex legends) and i can more than easily run at 144fps But whenever i watch the recording back its like 10 fps in the recording do you know how i fix this?
@@thedandy6765 does it say anything at the bottom when you're running OBS about any amount of frames dropped? If you're using x264 for the speed it could be your processor maxing itself out
see my recordings look suuuper crisp but at random spots the image will just freeze for like 1-4 seconds but the audio will be fien and itll just continue going after it unfreezes.. so i end up cuttign it out in editing which is fine but sometimes it happens during like a super important cutscene or an epic moment in like COD or something
This is how I fix laggy recording. In the output settings: 1. Switch to Hardware Encoder (make sure to pick H.evc since it's better) 2. Change ur video bitrate to 2500k also if ur audio has a bit of a delay, just lower the bitrate to 128k.
Im trying to record minecraft and my average fps in minecraft is 100 but once I start recording even at 720p it drops to 20fps and even worse sometimes it even crashes
Just in my opinion if you are trying to record on a MacBook/Imac and recording is very laggy I found that if you switch to your Hardware Encoder in the output of the recording tab the graphics will not be as good but you get pretty good FPS and my CPU is I5 so that's my personal settings. Hope it is useful!
So a lot of those options don't show up for me, I followed all the steps to get there, potentially an update that moved stuff? I probably don't need the exact settings you have, but I wanna make sure I'm getting the best experience.
Idk what happened but one of these settings completely minced my recording quality, just made it into a choppy mess. I’ve recovered it by setting everything back to how it was but idk what to say, it seems plenty of people have benefited from this tutorial but for me it just completely mashed up my recordings.
i have very good wifi and pc and most of mine was pretty much exact as yours or even better thanks when i recorded i thought it was somthing but i did not know how to fix it !

Hi! What if I'm not recording a game, but recording a Google Meet call in Chrome? I noticed that the lags start exactly when I join a meeting room. Before that the browser recording is smooth. Copying the settings from this tutorial didn't help :(
For people that have laggy recording but smooth gameplay its because you have game mode on. I was struggling with this for like 2 years but then I found out that since game mode focuses on the game more than anything else, the recording lags. And profile should be set to either main or high
MY problem is once i export the video i just recorded. It keeps lagging and sometimes doesn't record the audio I just did. But the whole time Im recording you can see in the audio mixer that it is recording. Please help.
for me, I'm having a problem with CPU usage. My CPU usage doesn't go over 50%, yet my recording lags terribly, and when I turn up the priority of the task, my game lags instead, but my cpu usage still stays around the same. Could it be that I'm thermal throttling? I've had the same thermal compound for years.. I don't know. Thanks, sorry!
