- This tip discusses how to add spontaneity to your dub mixes by overlaying sound effects. This can be done by using a pad sampler in realtime, feeding a cassette machine into your mixer to play back samples, or using an onboard oscillator, featured in some mixing consoles. In this example Digistep demonstrates how he uses the CM4400 console’s oscillator and a 1970’s cassette machine during a mix to sculpt the dub version, add interest and unpredictability.

Thanks for the tips, just wondering how you run the oscillator into the ch? I have a soundtracs pc series midi 24. Thanks.
Hey Echo Chamber! On the CM4400 you can either use the onboard patchbay and connect the 'osc' channel (labelled) to a channel manually, or next to the oscillator button you can send it to 'groups' the tone will then come into your groups channels. Hope it helps!
