Funny you should mention artists and companies taking inspiration, because Terre D’Hermes first came out in 2006, and Oligarch was 10 years later. Wonderful review, Aaron.
I love the way you describe it. You're narrating the scents with texture, shapes and movements. Feels like narration of a story from a wonderland theme. Nice!

Aron your descriptions of fragrances is very insightful and I have learned so much from a perfumers perspective and I enjoy listening to you talk about fragrances!!! I look forward to trying and owning one of your fragrances! Thank you for the great content 🙏🏽
I golf quite a bit in the spring and summer. TDH is what I wear 99% of the time. In the sun and heat, it’s magical and vibrant. I’ve tried Oligarch and there a quite a few similarities to TDH but if I’m honest, it’s just too damn expensive.
As always Aaron I appreciate your truth!!! My tax bracket wont allow me to see the Roja but I'm happy to have Terre d'Hermes!!!💯💯💯 the OG as well as Intense Vetiver & I'm found of Eau Tres Fraiche soooo much had to grab a back up bottle before they are all gone!!!! Keep em coming Aaron!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Great review Aaron. I remember smelling TDH for the first time years ago and it was love at first sniff. Things have evolved since then and I now own Oligarch, which is much more refined. I love Oligarch but it is much gentler, whereas TDH projects like a monster in comparison. In my view, Oligarch is the better fragrance, but not when considering it cost £375 for 50ml at full retail. TDH offers way more bang for buck
The version Aaron tested was the Eau de Parfum which was about £300 for 50ml (gold bottle top), it's the Parfum version that was £375 (the one with the black gemstone bottle top - which got discontinued shortly after release due to the negative association with the word Oligarch and the invasion of Ukraine, so that version wasn't available to buy for long).
Awesome review! It hurts to see Roja essentially knock off other well known fragrances with better ingredients with barely any notable performance for such an astronomical price. I really love to see more original compositions from this house.
Great comparison review Aaron. Ironically, the first time I heard of Terre d'Hermes was from an article in GQ magazine from about 7 or 8 years ago about Roja Dove. He recommended Terre d'Hermes in the article. So I'm not surprised that he inspired by it. 👍
The similarity has only been mentioned 100 times by other reviewers & on sites like Fragrantica etc so he’s not really ‘the first reviewer to highlight the similarities’ .Oligarch was discontinued last year anyway since anything to do with Russia is now unsaleable , so whether its for you or not is pretty irrelevant since its no longer on sale.

This is a great review. I’m doing exactly this comparison right now with a sample of each. Aaron is 100% correct in his review. Oligarch is a more mellow version of Terre d’Hermes.

My advice to you would be to smell them both first, as the EdT and EdP are quite different smelling. Both are actually quite nice, but if you're after the one that smells closer to Oligarch, you need to get the EdT.
This was great! I advise anyone thinking of getting Terre d'Hermes to try both the EDT and the Parfum. The way Aaron is describing the difference between the TDH EDT and the Oligarch here, is very similar to the difference between TDH EDT and its parfum. The pure parfum is smoother, less "spiky."
It's the interplay of the flint note & the rest of TdH that makes it so noteworthy to me. It's the magic element lost in Oligarch, IMO. The Roja Oligarch Eau de Parfum wasn't £400, it was the Parfum version that was £375. Great honest review and I find the same, that they are similar but the Terre d'Hermes is rough round the edges whereas the Roja is smoother. You should test the Parfum version of Oligarch too, as I also have that and find it longer lasting than the eau de Parfum version.
@@schoeibkasempur7903 Dua's Monarch is really nice I agree and in my opinion a lot nicer than the Terre d'Hermes Edt. But not close enough to Oligarch for my liking. I find the Parfum version lasts perfectly on me, even in hot weather.
Love the vid! There's definitely no reason to have both imo. However, I find Oligarch to be quite clearly a better balanced, longer lasting, and more complex scent. Roja clearly likes taking timeless classics and giving them a modern touch up + his take on them. He's done it with this, Guerlain's Vetiver + his own, and Guerlain's Heritage + Danger come to mind. Also Dior Eau Savage + his Scandal. I can't afford to buy them most of the time, but they are a nice treat. However he also has some timeless classics of his own.. Creation E / Enigma the main one that comes to mind. To just deduct him to 'the person who copies' like many seem to isn't really fair.
@@schoeibkasempur7903 All noses are different but to say Cool Water and Elysium are similar is a huuge stretch. To me they aren't even close, just in the same ball park of the same season. Same with Enigma / Tobacco Vanille.

Parfum version really weak and skin-scent on me :( Duas Dupe The Monarch handles that problem :)
Elysium is inspired by Cool Water & Enigma by Tobacco Vanille
Longer lasting ? how ? I know both & Oligarch is weak af in comparison… on me or my friends & family
@@schoeibkasempur7903 Just my experience. How tf am I supposed to answer 'how?' a frag lasts longer on me than another? It just does
@@schoeibkasempur7903 All noses are different but to say Cool Water and Elysium are similar is a huuge stretch. To me they aren't even close, just in the same ball park of the same season. Same with Enigma / Tobacco Vanille.
alright you do you my man it’s well known that this man takes popular dna‘s & puts his own twist on it. roja is never unique to me. i don’t even like the smells, the weak performance & price on top kills it for me. Only exception is oligarch i agree that its better than TdH in terms of smell. The parfum version is really weak bc of higher oil, doesn’t project at all
Great video, but "Terre" is pronounced similarly to "Tear a piece of paper" and not "Terré"...
Tdh is absolutely timeless
I highly value Roja, but Terre d' Hermes blew my mind
Cadillac vs Bentley is a similar comparision👀✍️
Im one of those people who can't smell TDH because of some of the ingredients, all I get is cedar and no nuance. I can however smell Oligarch and love it but something in Rojas juices gives me a rash, well with Burlington, Oligarch, and Oceania anyway. So I bought a extrait dupe that doesnt give me a rash and its cheaper than both. ☺
tdh has a bitter gone off orange note my nose doesn't agree with. oligarch takes it up many levels and is much more refined and wearable, and more complemented. tdh is a love it or hate but oligarch is signature worthy all year round if you can handle the cost.
My wife hates Terre D’Hermes.
ATH coming with the facts again
Great job 👌🏿
And that’s why you should rather get Duas Oligarch Dupe The Monarch 😉 Oligarch with better performance and cheaper !!
Hacivat is similarly inspired from Aventus
Please can you review them together
They are more different than similar!
In my eyes Aventus is incredible
I believe Dior Homme 2020 smells like both Oligarch and Terre d’Hermes. I think they belong to a family of musky, woody vetiver fragrances.
There's no musk, it's a citrus fragrance to be precise a fougere or earthy.
