Love to see you giving orchids a go!!! I have several different species of orchids and I grow them all in a moss/bark mix. I make like a lasagna with layers starting with moss and ending with bark (sprinkle in some slow release fertilizer) in orchid pots with holes on the sides. I like clear pots because it helps me gauge the moisture. If I see even a smidge of humidity I wait to water. Usually I go about once a week with the watering. My orchids are literally THRIVING. I’m sure you’ll work your magic with it like you always do.
Pings are so cute and love that they catch those nasty fungus gnats. I bought one ages ago and it has produced so many offshoots, that I separated and put inro glass jars filled with sphagnum moss. They are flowering adorable little purple flowers at the moment. The orchid you received, when flowering, looks like something from the Addams Family. Creepy, but cool!!!! Thanks for another fun unboxing. 👍
I've got the same bulbophyllum and I have it potted in straight moss. They love moisture (much more than humidity) since they have quite fine roots for an orchid. Don't ever let them dry out completely. They are slow growers so if you kill off the roots it may take a long time until new ones appear and it may not survive until then. I put mine in a diy self-watering setup and it's been great for a couple years now.
So much for another great video, my dear friend, and loved all the things that you got. Thanks for sharing your beautiful new plants with us. Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving this year with all your family
Omg that Orchid.. at the end when you showed the new growth & we could see how it grows at the bottom, gave me such fairy forest mystical vibes. I don’t have any Orchids. Might need to try that one. Looks like it’s doing well!
3 months ago I was in the mood to treat myself with a new plant but i really wanted to get smth out of my confort zone so i got a variegated hibiscus and OMG I dont regret it. Easy care, incredible colors, grows like a beast and gave me beautifull big red flowers zhat you can use for tea once they are done. Really recommand it
Hooray, your first orchid! I just got mine to bloom despite the fewer hours of sun this Autumn (it took lots of fertilizing!!) ❤ 🌺 Excited to watch you achieve your first orchid bloom 😊
“I don’t know who I thought I was ordering this!” 😂 you crack me up! I’ve only successfully grown jewelry orchids so I am not much help. But the blooms! #YESPLEASE!!
We just visited a huge botanical garden on the Big Island of Hawaii, spent hours in there ooooooing and awwwwwing at everything, hubby was shocked at how many names I knew but so many I’ve never seen before, phenomenal experience ❤❤❤
Paphiopedilum orchids are my favorites! I love their growth pattern, their flowers are super impressive and some species leaves are spotted/ variegated.. so super beautiful to look at when not in bloom 😍
What's up Fern hope you're having an incredible day love this video I made a big pot of spaghetti it is so good I put meatballs green pepper and I gave some to my neighbor he 👍🙂
Good luck with the orchid! Honestly I find those sorts of orchids WAY easier that phalanopsis for some reason. Maybe that's just me but I've rotted almost every phal I had and am keeping a bunch of different orchids with that growth pattern (mostly from crystal star too) alive no problem and have even gotten a few of them to rebloom

Fernnn I am so glad you got a fun funky orchid, I have probably around 25 myself of a bunch of different genus and they are so freaking fun and rewarding! biggest thing I have found is to not move them around much, I have most of mine under some cheap amazon grow lights and they love them, 8 of mine are either in bloom or spike rn which is so fun for a usually slow growing winter. Also, mini phals are literally known for being drama queens, I have lost a handful myself but it doesn't stop me from picking up a new one at the grocery store whenever I get the chance. Excited to see updates on em!
@@wildfern yep, airconditioning is pretty standard here and I run a few water coolers in my sun room for my plants. Such a fun haul! The bulbo orchids are nice, I don't have that type in my collection, but when you are researching it, see what you can about their scent! I have about 50 orchids in my collection, and I find the Dendrobiums and Cattleyas can be very easy growers and bloomers! Good luck with your new babies!!
Congrats on the new babies. I just made my first orders from them this year, couldn't believe it, like you said , I couldn't believe how big they were . Might have to look for that orchid , that's a really cool flower. Definately will be checking them out again. Thanks for sharing
I've always consider phalaenopsis' pretty easy and resilient plants. I keep them in chunky, airy bark mix, once it breaks down, they're prone to root rot. I water them by rinsing the pot with water or by placing it in a bowl for 10-15 mins (do not water by pouring water into the pot) if they're extra thirsty. I water only when the substrate is dry and the roots turn silvery. I do not put them into small decorative pots, they need airflow, otherwise they turn moldy. For my orchid recommendations: zygopetalums and paphiopedilum are easy to get and care for (very simmilar to phals) so are oncidiums (fine roots, suggest growing in sphagnum), cattleyas have beautiful blooms, aerangis have stunning chains of white flowers, miltonia flowers look like pansy, bulbophyllums or draculas for funky flowers .. my favourites are Dendrobium chrysotoxum, Laelia bahiensis and sedirea japonica :)
My favorite succulents I have right now are my Bears Paw “Cotyledon tomentosa”, Green Beans “Crassula Congesta” and Pink Ice Plant “Oscularia deltoides.”
I’ve ordered a few Pings from California Carnivores and they arrived in great condition and have grown. ehlersiae "Cotton Candy" and esseriana are two favorites. Hopefully they will bloom in Spring. I love your videos and have learned so much from you! Thanks!

“If I can keep this alive and if I can ever get this thing to bloom for me I’ll probably croak because their so cool” Haha, made me laugh and I love orchids but if I had to choose it’s gonna be you over the orchid every time 🙏🙏🙏
I really like the leaves on that Bulbophyllum!👌 A phal that I find adorable is the Phalaenopsis pulcherrima var. marmorata. They only bloom when days are long, but the leaves themselves are really pretty. Another orchid species that I really like is the Psychopsis papilio. These can bloom on and off all year round and the blooms are spectacular. They have beautifully mottled leaves too.
Don’t you live by a swamp? (I swear I recall you saying that at some point; that you lived by a swamp and not a river). Maybe that’s why your pings bounce back so well, because you have the air conditions for them. Just a theory.

How often should you water 🌊 💦 little succulents that size? I think I let mine dry out to long 😮❓
Hi you need to get a phalaenopsis schilleriana, she has amazing leaves and scented flowers, so beautiful, and easy to grow :D
Suggestions: GoldenEye, x Bronze Butterfly, Moranensis var. alba San Cristobal, Mexico, Marilyn Monroe, St Elmo’s Fire 😊

Yes I am! Thank you ☺️
“If I can keep this alive and if I can ever get this thing to bloom for me I’ll probably croak because their so cool”
Haha, made me laugh and I love orchids but if I had to choose it’s gonna be you over the orchid every time 🙏🙏🙏
I don't understand succulents at all :( I can't tell when they are thirsty, can't tell if dead. Tips?
Love this haul!
Day 2 of asking 😆. Will your potting soil mix work on non aroids ?
Which plants are you wanting to use it for, specifically? I usually adjust it depending on what plants I'm potting!
@@wildfern For example., pothos , maranthas, microsorum diversifolium etc
@@wildfern 🤔🤔
Fern do you keep the plants that you order and keep in the pots and substrates they come to you in or do you get anxious and repot them all?
I usually wait quite a while to repot, unless I find reason to do so sooner!
Girl! Never apologize for wearing pajamas or repeating outfit. We’re all friends here 🤣 we all do that. 👌🏽
I really like the leaves on that Bulbophyllum!👌
A phal that I find adorable is the Phalaenopsis pulcherrima var. marmorata. They only bloom when days are long, but the leaves themselves are really pretty. Another orchid species that I really like is the Psychopsis papilio. These can bloom on and off all year round and the blooms are spectacular. They have beautifully mottled leaves too.
Early afternoon
Af omg
hellooo haha
If it blooms for me I'll croak lmao dead 🤣🤣
Don’t you live by a swamp? (I swear I recall you saying that at some point; that you lived by a swamp and not a river). Maybe that’s why your pings bounce back so well, because you have the air conditions for them. Just a theory.
(Many Pings are also native to British Columbian Swamps)
I think I said “that’s what she said” 3 times while watching this one 😂 (it’s bigger than I thought it would be)
💚💚
Has anyone gotten plants shipped to the US from Crystal Star Nursery? I'd love to support them but I'm in the Southeast of the US.
I don’t think they ship to the US unfortunately 💚
