Praise Be Unto The MOST HIGHTEST GOD, THE ONE WHO TOLD MOSE'S THAT I AM THAT I AM ! ! !) IN HIS HOLY SON NAME JESUS WHO IS THE TRUE MESSIAH THAT SETS ON HIS COMAND CENTER THE THRONE CHAIR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am very prone to depression .At a couple of points I have even been pre- suicidal. (I mean I even thought of running red lights on busy intersections). When I didn't have ears to hear from the Bible, God used Russ Taff, (and also Rich Mullins ) to remind me that HE is there.
I used to walk my dog everyday and once I thought about just stepping out into traffic and end it all, but that dog would have suffered too, h e was a gift from God and might have survived when no one wanted him but me. He had been severely abused and even shot because he wasn’t born a pit bull. Praise God I never thought of doing that since I rescued that dog, an angel in a dog’s body, mind, and spirit! We saved each other, thanks to The Almighty!
My husband Todd said this all the time, especially when things were so difficult. He'd just look at me and say, "I still believe." We said it in good times and in bad. We said it to each other when he had cancer at 40 and we had three children under five. Despite it all, we said it over and again. I had it engraved on the back side of his tombstone for all to see. Through it all...I still believe!
This was originally a song written and performed by a secular band, The Call - I Still Believe. They have another song called "The Walls came Down" obviously inspired by the walls of jericho.
I love Russ Taff STILL...saw him in concert years ago and would drive my car blasting his Medals and I still believe album! Love you Russ Taff...you were such an inspiration to me, my walk with God and still on this June 22, 2018
This song got me through a rough job situation years ago as I'd sit in the parking lot before going in and listen to this before doing battle. Thanks Russ! Your ministry has blessed me from the early 80s to today. God bless you!
This incredible song was originally written and performed by the late Michael Been of the band The Call. They were so good The Band's Garth Hudson played with them. Actor Harry Dean Stanton sat in on harmonica. Members of Moby Grape played with him. All of Michael Been's songs are strong in this manner. Many people are more familiar with his "Let the Day Begin" which a presidential candidate used for his campaign several years ago. Been was a writer of intensity with beauty and he was spiritual. Explore the many songs of The Call -- and Michael Been's one solo album and discover so many beautiful rock songs that few people even know exist. But when someone like Russ Taff knows him, and the band Simple Minds (who covered "Let the Day Begin") -- there are people out there who know Michael's work. RIP Michael.
I LOVE THIS SONG-so very true!! I listened to this over 20 yrs ago 'locked' away in my parents station wagon- upset and mad at the world- GOD has taken and carried me this far! 45 and lovin it now!!!!!! I LOVE YOU RUSS TAFF- GOD IS SO VERY AWESOME!!!!
I saw Russ live at a club in NYC in the early 90's, not long after I relocated here. I was so grateful he would come to New York at a time when it was not exactly a safe city. I remember it like it was yesterday. What a great artist, performer, and man of faith. Thank you, Russ.
Russ Taff's performance redeemed this song. As a believer who lives in a fallen world where life gets broken, these lyrics that in the context of the world may indeed be "generic" and "self promoting garbage" are a battle cry. No matter what happens, I still believe!
Love this song no matter who recorded it (originally The Call, and also Michael English), but it's Russ Taffs voice that I think of when it comes to mind! -great song and great testimony
Oh my gosh @RussTaff, anthem and signature song for those of us who have been in similar situations. You gave everything in this performance, from the depths of your soul; from someone who survived the trials and sings his heart out to us all !!! Thank you Michael Been and The Call for creating this song and allowing Russ Taff to share his version to those of us who feel the vibe. I still listen to Russ Taff while driving in my truck, volume up, singing along !!!
When I was really ready to totally surrender my life to The Lord Yeshua I was searching for Christian music that I could relate to, especially after being a Hendrix,Blackmore,Farner,Trower influenced guitar player myself of now it's 55 years I was handed a 90 minute (remember those?) cassette of about 20 different Christian artist at that time ( 89-90 ish) and thought I was sunk when it came to this new musical journey and hunt. Well, after listening to every tune on that cassette I realized I could not take any of the songs whatsoever and they were all "popular radio" songs at that time. THEN I got to last very last tune on the B side and it was Russ Taff singing Down In The Lowlands and I was immediately floored and it gave way for me to grow grow grow in my walk and it was a blessing to me and I LOVE all the rocking' Russ Taff albums of that era. I'm glad I stumbled onto these youtube vids of this show. Love me some James Hollihan Chris Rodrigues Geeter playing.
You can't always control when you fade out, but when you do, go out like a boss. Russ Taff, I thank God for you, and for the impact you've had on my life. God bless you.
Thanks Russ for your beautiful voice and anointed words that help me through my darkest hours in intractable pain disease! Praise be to God 4 using Russ mightily!! I feel like screaming and crying daily but I still believe!!!!
I’ve enjoyed this talented guy for 45 years. We’re about the same age. Ya I’ve been thru a lot of crap in my life bro. But I’m still going. ❤️ you Russ
Russ, no other artist like him, what a message, so much soul. I saw him in concert over, 25 years ago, man they just got down. You know its good, when he preforms live, just like the record. I will never forget it. ♥️♥️
This song takes me back and is still strong as it was back then, If you are struggling with anything give it to Jesus and keep believing that He will pull you through any and everything, just as the song says I can truly say I still believe and nothing and no one can change that. Thanks Russ for the song Jesus gave you so many years ago that is still touching lives and hearts today. Be Blessed in all you do!!!!!!
Love fussy Russ and this new version is good but the 1987 I Still Believe off his self titled album is still one of his very best songs ever recorded. If you haven’t listened to Russ Taff’s 1987 Russ Taff GET IT NOW. You will not be disappointed
Thank you brother Russ for sharing your alcoholism with the world and letting us know that none of us are perfect and we all deal with demons everyday. Thank you for never giving up and blessing us with your talent all of these years. We all need to remember that God is great and more powerful than this world and still chooses to forgive us and love us as long as we continually turn to Him and give him our cares and concerns and love Him back. We all must keep fighting for good and His grace will see us through. I Still Believe! ♥
i say one day after your song , years try to listen and russ taff ? ok silent love i'm kristian et take ....................... thanx for your help i continue the music , i'm so proud to you . just pray for me. the lord is powerfull for you and me .
Brother, thank you so much for finding and sharing this song!! I happened to be watching WACO and saw it in S1 E5. At the end. For some reason my actual body jumped up and started clapping and singing the lyrics. I thought, what is happening. It was so much fun. I haven't heard this since High School. Thanks Man! You rock.
Although the song is written by Michael Been for many of us, myself included, we came to know this song only thru Russ Taff's album. I have to say that although the others have covered this one well, Russ Taff's cover is unforgettable.
how sad that you judge so harshly without researching. Russ recorded this song in 1987. I STILL BELIEVE I've been in a cave For forty days Only a spark To light my way I want to give out I want to give in This is our crime This is our sin But I still believe I still believe Through the pain And through the grief Through the lies And through the storms Through the cries And through the wars I still believe Flat on my back Out at sea Hoping these waves Don't cover me I'm turned and tossed Upon the waves When the darkness comes I feel the grave But I still believe I still believe Through the cold and through the heat Through the rain And through the tears Through the crowds And through the cheers I still believe I'll march this road I'll climb this hill Upon my knees If I have to I'll take my place Upon this stage I'll wait till the end of time For You For people like us In places like this We need all the hope That we can get I still believe I still believe Through the shame And through the grief Through the heartache And through the tears Through the waiting And through the years I still believe Words and music by Michael Been and J. As God told Peter DON'T CALL UNCLEAN WHAT GOD HAS CREATED CLEAN
Great audio mix for a live track. Sounding great on my Event 2020 monitoring speakers. Well done on being so awesome. (Shame the video isn't in HD resolution.) Brings back the memories!
What? LOL... Nobody really believes that stuff. A lot of us go through the Christian phase because of our parents, it's like Santa Claus, eventually you realize it's not real
Why are you on this page then? It seems like maybe you're wondering if there is still something to this Jesus thing after all. Maybe you didn't get the actual disease. Maybe all you got was enough Christianity to be inoculated rather than enough to be changed.
Yeah, OK... I still listen to Jars of Clay, for example - and like all sentimentality and melancholy, I like to revisit my youth in terms of aesthetic recollections. ...but insofar as 'wondering if there is still something to this Jesus thing"... no, nononoooo... I wouldn't just dance around such an issue. I happen to know for a fact that Jesus was an invention of the Piso's and the Flavians - and that philosophically, GOD cannot exist.
So you hold to ahistorical, thoroughly debunked claptrap...and think that the things which make you human are best explained by non-human causes? Wow. Just wow. I pity you, man, I genuinely do.
It's a long, hard road What a change has come Hard change has come I've been out in a cave For forty days With only a spark To light my way I wanna give out I wanna give in This is our crime This is our sin But I still believe I still believe Through the pain And through the grief Through the lies And through the storms Through the cries And through the wars I still believe I still believe Flat on my back Out at sea I'm hoping these waves Don't cover me I'm turned and tossed Upon the waves When the darkness comes I feel the grave But I still believe I still believe Through the cold And through the heat Through the rain And through the tears Through the crowds And through the cheers I still believe You can't take that away from me, no I believe I'll march this road And I'll climb this hill Upon my knees If I have to I'll take my place Upon this stage I'll wait till the end of time For You I still believe I believe You can't take that away from me I still believe For people like us In places like this We need all the hope That we can get I believe I believe Through the shame And the grief Through the heartache Through the tears Through the waiting And all the years I still believe I must believe I still believe [Incomprehensible] I still believe
Its a true singer to realize his voice can't do what it used to and letting a backup singer hit the high notes. Rather than his ego being so big he pushes them out and it sounding like someone swinging around a bag of cats. By far my favorite Russ song!
@Dana I think you're completely missing the point. This song is about perseverance, keeping strong in one's faith in Christ especially when life's circumstances become seemingly insurmountable. During these times of test, trial and tribulation God emboldens our Faith, making us stronger than ever for his glory in Christ Jesus. Judge not lest ye also be judged sir. God forgive, keep and bless you beyond your capacity to contain it in Jesus name. :D
You guys know he didn’t actually write this right? It was written by Tim Capello who is a pretty well know songwriter. He performed this himself in the film The Lost Boys with Kiefer Sutherland and gyrates half nekkit with a saxophone in spandex

This song has followed me through my faith life. We never really believe that we can wander away from God. The way back can be a challenging lesson.
Yes
And faith comes by reading the words of life out loud right back into your own ears and heart
RUSS TAFF… THE BEST !!!
Great song still one of my fav russ taff songs
Is that the one and only Ron Hemby on background vocals??? Simply great song Russ...still standing the test of time ;-)
You are an inspiration Brother Russ...inspired by the challenging journey of this brief life in the Light of GOD'S wonderful Grace and Love.
My favorite russ taff album is Medals.

Love this ..
Brother, thank you so much for finding and sharing this song!! I happened to be watching WACO and saw it in S1 E5. At the end. For some reason my actual body jumped up and started clapping and singing the lyrics. I thought, what is happening. It was so much fun. I haven't heard this since High School. Thanks Man! You rock.
Great version of a terrific song. Michael Been would have been proud of Russ.
Thank you, Michael Been, for this song. Have loved it for over 30 years and counting.
This song is written by Michael Been from the band The Call. This is a cover version, although a very good one indeed !
Although the song is written by Michael Been for many of us, myself included, we came to know this song only thru Russ Taff's album. I have to say that although the others have covered this one well, Russ Taff's cover is unforgettable.
All songs have different meanings to different people. Job well done Russ.
Fantastic Russ.
how sad that you judge so harshly without researching. Russ recorded this song in 1987. I STILL BELIEVE
I've been in a cave
For forty days
Only a spark
To light my way
I want to give out
I want to give in
This is our crime
This is our sin
But I still believe
I still believe
Through the pain
And through the grief
Through the lies
And through the storms
Through the cries
And through the wars
I still believe
Flat on my back
Out at sea
Hoping these waves
Don't cover me
I'm turned and tossed
Upon the waves
When the darkness comes
I feel the grave
But I still believe
I still believe
Through the cold and through the heat
Through the rain
And through the tears
Through the crowds
And through the cheers
I still believe
I'll march this road
I'll climb this hill
Upon my knees If I have to
I'll take my place
Upon this stage
I'll wait till the end of time
For You
For people like us
In places like this
We need all the hope
That we can get
I still believe
I still believe
Through the shame
And through the grief
Through the heartache
And through the tears
Through the waiting
And through the years
I still believe

and the lyrics basically are psalm 23 Russ fought depression and this song expresses that. if you look at these lyrics with the compassionate eyes of the Father you can see there is nothing generic here at all.
finally kiss recorded Petra's God gave rocknroll to you...does that make the song Satanic... As God told Peter DON'T CALL UNCLEAN WHAT GOD HAS CREATED CLEAN
Will May except Russ didn't right the lyrics and they aren't from Psalms. Nice thought though
1974 you're right, Russ Taff didn't write this song. Michael Been (another Christian) wrote it.
Russ is the best! I'm still waiting for your DVD.
Great audio mix for a live track. Sounding great on my Event 2020 monitoring speakers. Well done on being so awesome. (Shame the video isn't in HD resolution.) Brings back the memories!
He can still sing! Amazing performance.
THANK YOU, JESUS!!!!!!!
Back when I was a Christian - I had all of Russ Taff's stuff.

Very good song!!!
It's a long, hard road
What a change has come
Hard change has come
I've been out in a cave

If I have to
I'll take my place

Wow. Just, WOW.
Its a true singer to realize his voice can't do what it used to and letting a backup singer hit the high notes. Rather than his ego being so big he pushes them out and it sounding like someone swinging around a bag of cats. By far my favorite Russ song!
GREAT SONG!

So Russ Taft and the muscle bound guy in The Lost Boys did a cover of the original song "I still believe" by the band The Call.
Awesome
Great song for a guy experiencing disappointments while going through his mid-life crisis
2022 Esse é Russ Taff
Best song ever
Donna I think there is no need to feel like you have to hang on. We are just connected to God and nothing can change that.

What does he still believe? Just curious.
Anthony Romero it was Written by Michael Been & Jim Goodwin, The Call. Capello also covered the song.
