    The airport was actually in Canada near where they filmed the X-Files. Vancouver International Airport was used as a stand-in for John F. Kennedy International Airport, the airport mentioned in the film. It was tricky to not have the Canadian flag flying in the scenes where the teenage cast are dropped of by there families. Filming took place on Long Island for the plane scene. Alex's father is actually the same as the actor who played Robert Patrick Modell (Robert Wisden), in series 3, ep 17 of The X-Files episode Pusher.

    This was originally going to be an episode of The X Files, with Mulder and Scully investigating a teenager with the ability to see people's deaths before they happen, beginning with the plane explosion, and that Mulder and Scully might be next. This was changed into a standalone movie instead of an episode.

    Interesting piece of trivia surrounding this film. Final Destination was originally written as an X-Files episode, but became a movie and spawned an amazing franchise of sequels. Just as The Shawshank Redemption was just a small Stephen King short story that became perhaps the greatest cult film of all time. The story of this film is of course just like something out of the X-Files.

    Not to add to the horror of a plane exploding, but it's not just the people in the plane that die... The debris from the plane pieces also take the lives of those unlucky enough to be underneath when it exploded... There was one story of a plane that exploded (I think it was Ireland in the 80s, I could be complete off on location and year, but this event was real) and one man lost his ENTIRE family (wife, son, daughter) and neighbors when a chunk of the plane crashed into the house while visiting and he was on a business trip.

    My first time flying on an airplane I was alone taking a trip to California and the first stop was Denver, Colorado the plane hits bad turbulences and I gripped my arm rest and said out loud, "Oh god, we're gonna die!" and I'm panicking and thinking about this movie and that song by John Denver and I'm on my way to Denver and I panic some more. Then the plane goes back to normal and I'm covered in sweat trying to calm down and some of the people around me were like, are you ok? Ah I first time sucked the few other times were fine.

    This film franchise I imagine was definitely responsible for increasing people's paranoia about even some of the most mundane activities or events people participated in on a normal basis, like running an errand to go grocery shopping; because you find yourself wondering if there were any odd or out of place occurrences you might have encountered that day that just might have served as a warning that something was going to go wrong today. Plus, if you pay special attention during the boarding scene in the beginning of the film you'll notice something very odd that Alex's character gets a quick glance of while looking downward prior to stepping on the plane.😳

    No sarcasm here: if I was on a plane and some random guy woke up and started freaking out that the plane is gonna blow, I would be off of that plane so fast lol, fuck my ticket and the prices I don't care, as far as I'm concerned I just got a warning from the gods haha, ignore it at your own peril. Obviously the whole Death getting revenge is BS, but I don't mess with premonitions man, especially when they involve my death
    Edit: I also sure as shit wouldn't be angry at the guy who had the vision, if it indeed did save my life. Like dude, you're a hero as far as I'm concerned

  • @Frainkey
    @Frainkey Рік тому

    I don't have the Director's answer or anything but why Alex was able to have the premonitions doesn't have to be a profound event. That's like asking why a child was born as a twin, or why a person is born with a mental disability. Sometimes things happen at random and for whatever reason Alex was given the premonition to which he had freedom of choice and could have chosen to ignore it. Everyone dies when they are supposed to and there's no cheating death. His choice to leave and save others caused a chain reaction. Why the chick believed him?? Easy, she just did. Some people literally would choose to believe a person like that in general. Maybe she had a gut feeling that something felt off or she was the type of person who believes in the mystical, paranormal, conspiracies, etc.
    People believe in aliens, people believe in Kanye, people believe in flat earth so I don't think there needed to be a philosophical reason why she believed Alex that much.
