In my experience, when I use primer spray paint on the joints the paint holds up way better compared to painted joints with acrylic paint. Although it is a bit limited since primers are mostly in white or gray. But it worked well for my white and gray customs :) Even the joints of my white painted curvy Barbie made to move can be posed without the paint chipping, like wow! :0 Of course you could also dye the doll but then you have to fight the dye seeping through the repaint😔It's possible to work around it but still a bit risky...
i've actually never thought of using primer like that for the joints, ill have to try that at some point!! i've only seen horror stories of doll dyeing so im scared to do that myself too.. i wish we could just wave a magic wand and have the joints not chip LMAO
What a helpful tutorial!! I was just wondering- I know alot of other customizers tend to use liquitex paint as opposed to apple barrel/craftsmart, is there a reason you don't? People absolutely sing their praises over liquitex but ngl i kind of dont want to go out and get a big tube for one doll LOL. Also have you ever used a Lagoona body? I'm planning to use her for a custom but I'm not really sure how the lower legs would act as oppopsed for the rest of the body :0
thank you!!🥹 thats sort of the reason why i opt for applebarrel/craftsmart rather than liquitex! each liquitex bottle is pretty expensive for a single color, while the cheaper paints are way more accessible for most people (including me LOL) & in my experience they work great!! i have 2 big tubes of liquitex paint and theyre WAY thicker in consistency than applebarrel/craftsmart & i honestly havent touched them at all since getting apple barrel. i’m sure since theyre more expensive & better quality, theres probably minor advantages but personally i just prefer using the cheaper stuff! & for lagoona, ive never used her for a repaint yet myself, but im sure if you prime the body with msc first there shouldnt be an issue! making sure the body is primed is the most important thing in my opinion to make sure the paint sticks properly!🫶🏻
@@crystalraven4006 in my experience, mr super clear is the only sealant thats ACTUALLY matte🥲 it also gives the doll a paperlike texture so that your pencils & materials stick to it! you could experiment with different ones but i did the same in the beginning and then realized how necessary msc is😭
g3 bodies are so perfect
This is so useful! Thank you. And it's so nice to come across another customizer in Az!
of course, i'm so glad it could help! az customizers rise upp

Good video 🎉
This is SO AMAZING! I need to get Mr. Super clear … is there any ither sealer that we could use or only that one?
dang arizona only has 15 counties but texas (my state) has 254
omg 254 counties is insane what LOL
i think the dying the body for the joins to macth the color of the paint then paint the body could work
