Hello, I made a jumper wire and mounted the plug in for the remote inside by the 12 v power plug. Our XRC comes with a winch but CanAm doesn't supply the remote with the machine. Come on CanAm!
So my bolt patterns don’t line up? Any idea on what I need to make it work? I’m new any winch. I’ve got a 2023 can am maverick trail 1000 as well. I got a KFI as50 mount. But only thing stopping me at this point is it’s not lining up. TYIA
@@MyATVlife I definitely was one post off!! Looks deceiving on the directions but I was able to pause your video and see my problem. Thanks again!!! Time to go drag some downed trees at the cabin

@@MyATVlife Thanks. I did have problems. Always carried a jump start pack. I know what I'm doing this weekend! I also lost some bolts into the black hole event horizon!
I just finished the install with the help of your video, thanks! One question… I have one remaining black ground wire with a ring connector on the end hanging from the wire harness. Should this connect back to the solenoid somewhere?
I don't recall an extra ground wire. If it all works maybe I'd just leave it alone. But if it is indeed a ground maybe ground it to the negative post there under the dash where everything hooked up. 🤷🏻♂️
Awesome video! I have officially covered all of the front end videos you have made.... do you think that winch harness would work with any winch? I really like the solenoid setup how it mounts directly to the bus bar but don't want to fork over the cash for a canam branded winch? Does that harness come with the handheld mount as well as the dash switch?
Honestly can't remember. I think the handheld switch comes with the winch. The dash switch is probably with the harness, but if not that switch should be available separately. The harness should work with the any winch (I think) because there's only a positive and negative wire that actually go out to the winch. I really hadn't given it much thought, but I think it could work. 👍
Which color terminal did the busbars and the circuit breaker go on ? Need to know so i can run a circuit breaker on my warn direct solenoid. Ive basically concluded the can am harness is more hassle than its worth , its not plug and play , nor does it come with the accessories to make the winch safe ( i.e busbars and circuit breaker, theyre separate parts ) so i cant even figure out why this kit exist id rather spend 10 minutes learning how to splice a red wire to my ignition than use this crappy kit
I don't remember the color, but I'm Pretty sure when looking at it from the drivers seat it's the center and the right. Sounds like maybe you're missing parts from your kit ? Or did you receive everything that shows in the vid ? I agree the kit and the whole winch mounting process it a complete PITA. My Polaris machines were all pretty much plug and play. Can-Am made it much more difficult.
@@MyATVlife i ordered my winch from warn directly got a completely different solenoid than the one you have and honestly trying to piece information from two sets of instructions is a Pain in the but not knowing squat about electrical Plus I only wanted the harness bc i thought itd have a fuse wired in / circuit protected ( didnt know bussbars and circuit breakers were individual part numbers from can am) at this point once i figure the terminal the bussbars need to go on im probably just going to use warns instructions ( just adding a circuit breaker to it ) and get outside help on splicing into the ignition And leave the harness out entirely plus the harness doesn’t seem to account for a wired remote either and between warn and can ams color coding its mind boggling, your video on disassemabling the front end was great tho!!
Sorry you're having so much trouble. I know some guys have figured out how to wire other brands of winches in their MT, but I don't have the patience or knowledge to do that. Using the Can Am Superwinch and wire harness still sucks, but it was easy enough to figure out. I am really no help to you with other brands
@@MyATVlife id imagine theyre all similar, im doing something I’ve never done before with zero base knowledge so its to be expected but im just amazed at the lack of foresight by some of these companies, also if the internet didnt lie to me the super winch 4500/ is the same as a warn 4500 winch, which i believe you started your video with saying it was a warn winch anyway, either way, i just wish i could see that solenoid better so i could see for sure which color the buss bar is coming off off i cant tell if its blue or black, even watched on my computer to get a better picture of it 😂 if you remember which terminal it went off or have a picture thatd be appreciated , either way, have a good one
@@jcbpstr6 did you figure it out? I’m getting started on installing a winch on my trail. I agree. You would think this day and age they would have this process more streamlined. Maybe the next generation of side by sides they will. When you order a wiring kit to install on your Mavrick trail it doesn’t even come with everything you need to install it. That is just ridiculous. Especially since the Mavrick has been out for 3 years now. 🙄 I bought a warm 4500s. I bought the wiring kit and it didn’t come with circuit breakers or copper bars.
Between the instructions and this video you should be able to do it easily 🤣 I didn't mean to replace the instructions, just supplement them. 👍 Thanks for watching
Like did you guys use a crowbar in there and just gently pry it? Having the same issue but I don't want to scratch or damage this part of our brand new machine.
I just drove a wide flat screwdriver down between the plate and the frame and pried them apart. Since the rivnut wasn't tight in the frame it just pried apart fairly easily. Had all of the other bolts out, so the bad one was the only one left. Pried apart as we pulled on the plate and it finally just came apart.
We took our sway bar off without removing the shock or anything so much better without it love your videos
Thanks for putting this together. It was a big help!!
Hello,
I made a jumper wire and mounted the plug in for the remote inside by the 12 v power plug. Our XRC comes with a winch but CanAm doesn't supply the remote with the machine. Come on CanAm!
Currently using this guide to install my Super ATV winch. Seems like their wiring is a lot easier to install
Does anyone know where to get the part from the winch to the remote control harness? Not the remote control itself. The other part that it plugs into?
What is the link for CAN-AM to put all the cables together?
Do have the part number for the wirinng harness? Can Am site says for Defender.
The new defender is based off of the Maverick Trail platform, so it'd probably work.

I believe the bolt pattern is a "wide spool" bolt pattern. That's the only type of winch that will use existing holes...
great video! I had the exact same nutsert problem on the exact same bolt.
Did everything line up on the correct terminals on the block under the dash ? Maybe you're one post off to the side

Nice ! Glad it worked out 👍
when you put the new nutserts in did you use a rivet tool or just push them in? both mine stripped, I got them out it wasnt fun!
I used a rivnut tool
Under the dash of a Maverick trail IS the most uncomfortable place to put accessory terminals.
Agreed. It's horrible !
@@MyATVlife why couldn't they put it in the console like the X3?
Thank you for the video, very helpful. Do you know what size nutsert you had to buy? Having trouble finding one.

I yanked the swaybar too.
What can we do about the too-small battery? Any ideas?

I'm pretty sure they connect at that bus bar

Idk if you will see this but im having the same nutsert problem how did you get it out? Do i just pry on it? Cuz it wont budge..

Mine seems to be pretty stuck in there, I've had to resort to drilling it out. Thank you for the quick response though
Did you have to secure that nutsert somehow?
I have a nutsert tool that I bought from Harbor Freight a few years ago, works really well.
Any link for the nutserts or wanna sell some of your 50 😂😡😂
