This was an amazing analysis of Shane's play style and how he typically can manage his cue ball control. One of the things I'm learning is playing for perfect position is I'll advised. Playing for a shooting zone has helped me with my positional play.

Thank you for doing this. I think you did a great job capturing Shane's thinking. There are some times where there were other valid or perhaps better alternatives Shane didn't examine. Don't know if that clutters the video though. Best example is rack 5 position from 7 to 8. I do not like playing for the upper corner the way he did because it is very easy to end up bridging over the 9 or 10 ball playing the 8 in the top corner. It's pretty simple to get above the 8, and since the 9 goes in either corner you have some options if you end up on a different line than chosen.
Hey, Shane can play position. Who knew? Seriously though, I'm really enjoying this series. It is very interesting to see the different options available on many shots and the thinking behind the leaves. Great stuff, as always.
Best personal thing I took from this video was the comment about taking the pocket line across to the other rail to give a good target. I think this might be powerful for me. It sure makes visualizing the roll length easier. Thx.
I've said it before, but I always feel some empathy for the opponent on these videos. It makes them look like they NEVER made a shot in the match. And with TH (I think) that's not remotely likely. ;-)

Nice analysis. Do you figure this is how SVB specifically does things, or is it just good decisionmaking that most top pros would have done?
The very last statement, about shooting the last ball, is a trick I learned 40 years ago when I was having trouble shooting the "money ball." I always pretend that I have another, phantom, ball to get position on; and it's worked extremely well.
That was one of the concepts a guy taught me my first year playing.

Tor, I love these videos. Such great information. One suggestion would be to get rid of or replace the two note music bed. It gets to be annoying pretty quickly and it's in all of your videos.
He's taking the time to create these videos for free, and offering them to the public for free, and you have the nerve to complain about the music selection in FREE content?!? And just because YOU don't like it, he should change it because you said so? Lol, You are clearly very entitled. If you don't like it, then make your own videos and add whatever music you want, however you like.

@@rjp2295 I think it is constructive criticism. Tor is not doing this for free from what I can see. He uses the videos to drive sales for his books and videos. I've spent a lot of money on his products and appreciate his work. Still, suggestions to make them better are hopefully received by Tor positively.

Shane once tried to described his aiming technique during an interview, could you elaborate on his method in an upcoming video. It's what I call a modified half-ball cut. I've found it to be helpful most of the time. At least within 15° of either side of the object line. Thank you in advance.

@@rondo1775 - Shane has also said that's the aiming technique he would use IF he used one. He ultimately conceded he doesn't really use a system, he's made so many balls over his lifetime that he aims by feel and experience. At the end of the day, knowing how to aim a shot is through practice, there's no magical system, especially when you consider all the dynamics involved (speed, cut-induced throw, spin-induced throw, deflection, swerve, table conditions, ball conditions, table size, pocket size, etc). There's also the idea of are your eyes viewing true center, are you actually hitting the ball where you're aiming, so on and so forth. I'm not suggesting there shouldn't be a starting point to help guide you to aiming properly, you can certain practice and use a system if you believe it works for you, but ultimately it's just about recognition of the angle and repetition of the shot. Florian "Venom" Kohler did a UA-cam video on all the popular aiming systems out there and how he feels how they work... and the last one he presents that's his favorite is a system he calls HAMB: Hit a million balls.
The balls speak to Shane in a language only he hears and understands.

Rack 5; shot on the 9; why not simply run just off the short rail for pocketing in the middle pocket? isnt that what they prefer in the end?
