Kovacevic, the Habs didn't see enough potential in him considering he was playing 3rd pairing minutes at the time. Another defenseman that the Habs traded is not playing as much is Jordan Harris, who was playing around 2nd pairing minutes when he was on team, now only like 3rd pair minutes.

    Thank youi Tony and Chris.
Everybody keeps mentioning defence, and I've been mentioning the lack of secondary scoring for 2 years. There is no danger in 5vs5 other than an occasional goal on a turnover . The other teams knows this. This is why you see the other teams in the canadiens zone for 1+ minutes.

My kid brother, I think of him often. He was a lifelong Bruins fan. The Habs alumni showed up in Fernie and played the Blazers( WIHL). He got to play against Lafleur etal. I believe a year later Lafleur was back in the NHL for the Rangers. And still effective. What an amazing hockey player.

I do feel the current Habs lack intensity and there's no sandpaper or grit on the team. Dach so far seems invisible out there until he screws up (like a bad giveaway or penalty). Marty is a "philosopher coach". He is a good person but not what this team needs. The team needs someone with fire and whom the players respect but also fear. Stop making excuses like "they are young" or coming back from injury. This is the premier hockey league in the world and players need to play like their next pay cheque depends on their effort

    When is the rebuild over?

@@chrishansen8477That's the way a rebuild works. The GM weakens the team for a few years to draft good core players and then bring in more experienced players to help the young prospects. I still think Dach will get it together. Romanov would be nice to have on the blueline now, but I think his ceiling is as high as it gets now. He is a 20 minute guy, hits, and makes a good pass out of the zone. That is about it for Romanov. Not bad, but not special. I think Dach will turn into a bonefide 2nd center, but more patience is needed. His injury set him back 18 months of development. I'd take a bonefide 2nd center over a 2nd pairing dman. Nothing against Romanov though, I really liked him as a hab.

Gally is in the last couple years of his career how does it make sense to name him captain? And what makes you think him wearing the “ C” will do to make this group win more than they are now lol?? If you watch the draft specials you’ll notice that the Canadiens are more interested in drafting sweethearts than tough competitors. If you draft guys you’d have to kill to get them to stop competing there hardest it doesn’t matter if the room is full of best friends. Draft the kid that gets knocked down and comes back harder every time. It doesn’t matter if you hate your linemate if you hate losing more.

Off the record, you have to ask yourself how much are the 7 draft picks in the first three rounds of the 2025 draft regulating this team. It has to be in the back of your mind.
No one wants to lose 9-2, but, looking at the standings Montreal retained 5th from the bottom while Pittsburgh moved up to 20th overall from 24th overall and still be near the bottom of their division. You talk about Kirby, which seems true, but Slaf is floating out there. That lad needs to learn how to stand in the crease a little more.
Lastly, none of us know what it's like in that dressing room.

I was in law-enforcement; and had several rookies shadowing me on the job. Every time I would be firm with these rookies, they would fold like a cheap suit. I had one rookie almost cry and told me that he didn’t come to work to get yelled at. I wasn’t even yelling (yet) How do you coach this generation? How do you motivate a cupcake? That’s the problem.
