There is so much to love about Glen Benton and his approach. It IS best when a whole band writes. It DOES get redundant and stagnant when just one guy writes and the other guys follow along.
The best metal is written in the rehearsal room, not in front of a computer.

You’re a great interviewer. I’ve seen hundreds of interviews with metal bands and it’s not easy to do solo. To keep the person or group engaged answering questions over and over is not easy. Keep killing it bro. Great content! 🤘🏻
Glens statements about modern death metal is 100% correct all band wagoners and unoriginal for the most part.
I agree to an extent. As far as mainstream death metal, yes. But there are a ton of underground smaller bands pushing the envelope and creating newer sounds with the old influences.
There are still good newer death metal bands, but they aren't mainstream. Only the deathcore and hipster death metal really get promoted.
