    I’ve never pulled plugs and have one of the thickest and healthiest fescue lawns in my neighborhood. Detach, scarify, and overseed in Fall only.

    Personally, I have it done in the spring ( early to mid May) and in the fall (early to mid September, I am in the Fredericton area of NB, Canada 🇨🇦.
    I find that it definitely makes a huge and noticeable difference on how healthy and lush the grass will look when this lawn care step is performed.
    A+++

    Jimmy, I have friend thats a golf course superintendent, he says 3 times a year is perfect spring and fall pull cores. June/july do a solid core aeration if you have the right. equipment

      Keep in mind golf courses experience much more traffic than the average lawn.

    Fall is better because that is seeding time. What better way to overseed with holes in the lawn. Seeds love it.

    I thought Jake was in town visiting JP and you got him to stop by and do your aeration lol.

    Your yard looks fantastic! That view of the mountains is something else too 👍

    I agree with fall is best. However I live in Minnesota and we had over 100” of snow last winter. Usually that isn’t a issue but it snowed so early last winter the ground had not froze yet. The early blanket of snow acted a a great insulator and we never had the ground freeze properly. Lack of freeze and a crap ton of snow caused major compaction. We also had a drought this summer 😂 so compaction issues were exacerbated. When I aerated this fall I could literally see my yard take a deep breath.
    Lesson learned and I will be prepared to aerate in the spring if necessary.

      I give them a day or so to dry out. They move easier.
