For all their wars are merry, and all their songs are sad"
-G.K. Chesterton
Beautiful quote
The voice of the song, it's like the girl in the picture singing it herself. So it's good
When you have to meet up with your girl at 8 but fight for Irish independence at 9
Based on the thumbnail, it turns out that your girl is into that too and had already prepared her bagpipe, so you both go to Northern Ireland Border at 9.

There are various versions, this is good though.
From what I understand, the song itself dates back to the Jacobite war, so I'm not entirely surprised.

YEEEEEEES! This is one of my favorite songs and now I have this beauty
Indeed a culture can never die so long as their words are not forgotten . For this reason I have spent the last 17 years learning ancient Golanic , the origin language of Gaelic and every other celtic language spoken throughout history .
Golanic has been an essentially dead language for nearly all of officially recorded history and it's an extremely difficult language to learn because the Golanic people had no written languadge , at least not an alfabet as we would recognise today .
Instead they had representative symbols with complex meanings ranging from single vowel sounds to entire sentences , what we now know as Celtic knotwork patterns .
The reason I have spent so many sleepless nights resurrecting the language of my long forgotten ancestors is because it is a sacred tounge to me , the word Golana both in its namesake culture and in modern Gaelic means ( raven ) , the word Gael has 3 meanings depending on spelling and context , those three meanings being ( wind , wolf , and happiness ) . My oldest friend who's name I will not say here taught me most of what I've learned in Golanic , I once saved his life and in return he asked me what would repay my kindness shown the day he and I met . I said I wanted to be able to speak Golanic as I heard him speaking that day , he was praying to the celtic gods and goddesses , asking for a peaceful end should it come to that .
Quite recently this friend died , the last thing he said to me a few days before was ( don't be sad , remember that death is only a new beggining ) . He is the only person I've ever known who could only be concerned about his friends while dying a painful death . For him to comfort me while in that much pain broke my heart , but then I remembered what he said the day we met , the day I saved his life , his heartfelt prayer spoken in Golanic . ( So long as I die amungst friends , I will gladly embrace my next life ) . Although I said I wanted to keep his name to myself , I realize he would have wanted to be remembered , for my departed friend whom I will never forget , a man I hadn't seen in several years , I will speak his name and plant an oak at the place we met that day .
Angus Sheanen Kavanaugh , thank you brother , we will meet again one day .
sheanen? sounds cooler than just seann

Óró 'Sé do bheatha 'bhaile,
Óró 'Sé do bheatha 'bhaile,
Óró 'Sé do bheatha 'bhaile,
Anois ar theacht an tsamhraidh!
Óró 'Sé do bheatha 'bhaile,
Óró 'Sé do bheatha 'bhaile,
Óró 'Sé do bheatha 'bhaile,
Anois ar theacht an tsamhraidh!
'Sé do bheatha a bhean ba léanmhar,
B' é ár gcreach tú bheith i ngéibhinn,
Do dhúiche bhreá i seilibh meirleach...
Is tú díolta leis na Gallaibh!
Tá Gráinne Mhaol ag teacht thar sáile,
Óglaigh armtha léi mar gharda,
Gaeil iad féin is ní Gaill ná Spáinnigh...
Is cuirfidh siad ruaig ar Ghallaibh!
A bhuí le Rí na bhFeart go bhfeiceann,
Muna mbíonn beo ina dhiaidh ach seachtain,
Gráinne Mhaol is míle gaiscíoch...
Ag fógairt fáin ar Ghallaibh!
Óró!
Grainne Mhaol
Óró!
Grainne Mhaol
Óró!

This is so awesome! Could you also do some pre WW2 german songs, like f.e. "Der König von Preußen" or "Die Weber"? Also "Moorsoldaten" would be great, even though it is from the second world war.

I quite like this song.
I listen to this song a dozen times before, but only now I realized the melody is the same as "What shall we do with a drunken sailor"...
This might have decided what celtic language I will attempt to learn first. Because it is beautiful.
Also very difficult. Nearly everyone in my family speaks it fluently, and any time there is a gathering myself and two cousins just hang out because we are the only ones who can't speak it lol.
I am a fluent Irish speaker and first of all Im so happy you wanna learn the language! And 2. The language will be hard to learn, Due to the fact that it has many Grammar rules not seen in any other languages! Dont get discouraged however, Once you achieve fluency it is a language that you will love!.
Ádh mór my friend.

Loved the song Samuel Farina! My compliments to the singer! I grew up listening to Gealic songs as a little kid. Mostly from Celtic Women as in the group, but I also grew up listening to songs from Lou Monte, as well as other Italian and Irish songs.
Just for clarification, I'm 42% Italian and 5% Irish, with 28% British, 3% Iberian (Spain/Portugal), 11% Eastern European (Eastern Germany, Poland and the smaller counties), 1% Western European (Western Germany, Belgium, France, that might be it), 8% Caucus Mountain area (think Stalingrad), and 2% Middle Eastern. Sorry if it was a bit of a bore, but I just wanted to make sure that you had a better understanding of my genetic makeup in particular.
