I am this day years old when I learned what past perfect's is supposed to be. I always used it as a 'cool' version of simple past. Thank you for enlightening me on this :)
Hi Aga u r very clear and not so fast that non-native speakers like me find ur videos useful. Thank u. I am from Kerala India. Ur welcome to Kerala to visit and feast your eyes with the beauties of God's own country. Bye. Where r u from?
Increíble. Es la primera vez que veo una explicación para el uso del pasado y del pasado perfecto tan distinta y clara al mismo tiempo. Me ha encantado 😘.
Respected Ma'am, being undisputedly the greatest grammarian of this generation across the globe, you are earnestly entreated with folded hands to solve the following grammatical issue that has baffled so many grammarians and teachers. The Question is --They reached the station. Then the train left (Join the sentences using 'When ')My probable answers-(A) When they reached the station, the train left (B) The train left when they reached the station (C) When they had reached the station, the train left (D) The train left when they had reached the station.Ma,am,I do look upon you as an authority on English grammar.Do please help me out by explaining the nuances.
Respected Ma'am, being the greatest grammarian of this generation, you are earnestly entreated with folded to let me know which of the following sentences is correct --(A) It had been raining all night (B)It rained all night.
Hi, I’m a student too, I think that in the first sentence you are still in the night, it’s like (--raining all night-) ------you--- In the second sentence, it’s just the past: (--rained all night--) --------------you
Hello Ms. Aga: what is the difference between two questions - What did you do yesterday? - What were you doing yesterday? Can I use it interchangeable? Could you explain them for me how and when to use them? Thank you.
- What did you do yesterday day? + Is talking about the events or situations in the past that completely finished. - What were you doing yesterday? + It shows us that this question is asking for the answer which relates to the past events that were happening nom stop nor have not finished in thes past.
I know that in past perfect two action hapen one before another but what i want to know which of them in in past perfect and which of them in the past also what i knkw that always after before we use past simple is it right and thanks fur explanation
If there is a clear order of events that happened in the past, we use Past Simple. Events that took place one after another. But if something happened in the past and we want to say that another event took place and finished earlier than first one, we use Past Perfect.
@english_with_aga Hi Aga, in the first example I thought the correct answer was A because, doesn't the word "already" make it clear that you already watched it before? As in the very last example, the word "then" it is enough to make the order clear . At least to me it is the same logic. I look forward to your answer Thank you
Thanks you so much i understand but i still have problem i mean that in past perfect WE have two action one happen first in past simple and thé second happen in past perfect IS it right but you Make me confuse in thé examples of that had forgotten to but bread it IS this thé first action and thé second IS i didn't Make a sandwich this morning or vice vi
Sorry, I am confused. All the videos I saw and websites I visited say that we can use the past perfect even when the word before or after is present in a sentence. can you explain this please. Thanks a lot.
I think "my train left when I got to the station" more than me arriving first and the train leaving after that, it would be more I arrived and the train left right at that moment. Simultaneous actions, more than me arriving as a first action and the train leaving after. Otherwise, I would have taken the train and wouldn't have missed it 😅
Your effort is very much appriciated. But do you mean that we can't use/ before/ or /after /with the past perfect at all ? For we have been told by a teacher /not native/to use p.p. either before BEFORE or after AFTER. Please, tell me for you are trusted.
Past perfect can also be used. The sentences "My train left before I got to the station" and "My train had left before I got to the station" both are correct.
The one without "had" is commonly used and casual. The one with "had" is more precise and emphasizes that one action happened before the other. It highlights event sequence clearly, which is important in formal grammar contexts
@@AmeraAlawer Np! I just had been studying grammar alot lately because I'm participating in an olympiad. I always mess up in competitions and stuff.. I don't know how it will go..
"My train had left before I got to the station." This is perfectly correct sentence. I don't get why you confuse your viewer. Of course you don't have to use past perfect in this kind of sentence but it doesn't mean that this sentence is incorrect.
I am this day years old when I learned what past perfect's is supposed to be. I always used it as a 'cool' version of simple past. Thank you for enlightening me on this :)

Past perfect can also be used.
The sentences "My train left before I got to the station" and "My train had left before I got to the station" both are correct.
The sentence without had left is grammatically correct but the one with had left makes the sequence of events clearer
The one without "had" is commonly used and casual.
The one with "had" is more precise and emphasizes that one action happened before the other. It highlights event sequence clearly, which is important in formal grammar contexts

تصدع القاعده 🥲
So when we use adverb like 5 minutes ago yesterday we don't need to use past perfect but when we don't say it we use past perfect
Стало намного понятнее!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
what is the meaning of Aga?
It’s the teacher’s name

My grandfather died before I was born or My grandfather had died before I was born ))
If John Bercow, the former house speaker see this video he will quickly know that you copied the word ORDER from him. 😂
now I no longer have the ability to solve by heart anymore 😔

"My train had left before I got to the station." This is perfectly correct sentence. I don't get why you confuse your viewer. Of course you don't have to use past perfect in this kind of sentence but it doesn't mean that this sentence is incorrect.
Nicely explained, mam
Can we say that…
the dinner had been prepared for 30 minutes, I went outside and bought me some vegetables and a bottle of water.

Wonderful explaination 🎉
Thanks
