@@raulladd4996 a kx500 will wax any cr500. I just switched over to the kx the motor is wayyyy better. I did like the feel of the cr. It handed better and didn’t feel so planted. But I got a 250 tank for my bike to make it sleeker. Check it out it’s on my channel. I’m about to drop a full rebuild video.
The numbers don't translate the 'feel' of the 500 two strokes. It's the way they make power, it's the way they keep pulling harder long after 450's sign off. I literally rode entire stadium -style racetracks in third gear only. 500's are an experience, without riding one you won't understand. Thank Kap
Truth. I've gone 4-stroke to be honest.. but I raced & learned on 2-strokes @ Englishtown (NJ) Race Way Park, as kid & teen. Late 80s KX80s & early 90s KX125s 💯👍🤙. Bought 3 tickets to win the CR500 raffle so we see! ;)
OK I just picked up a CR500 AF - I also have a new 19 CRF 450RX. I am excited to get another 500 (had an 86 in high school). I have the 89 engine and going to set up for woods.

A trued crank in any motor - the motor will produce more HP/TQ than a motor with a untrued crank. Makes a huge difference. I had my yz490 crank done by ken O'Connor w/ OEM parts. Then had Eric Gorr do his Mo power porting / head squish mod and a pwk 38 . Ran real good! . Nothing like a CR500 , but close .

How is it around a race track tho? Tractable/ hook up /ridability etc. Great for sand of course /hill climbs. Like my 04 Mustang Cobra terminator (4900 orig mis). Puts dwn 525hp to rear wheels & will spank most all the 650-725hp cars due to ability to hook up & go~! Love ya guys for sure.👍
Love the 500s, I have a 96 that is my top bike, just got a hydraulic clutch put in, and am gunna get some new wheels and a pro circuit pipe to finish it off. Just needs black rims with red hubs and the pipe to replace the dented stock one on it. Got it for free from my dad cause he doesn’t ride anymore and he keeps telling me that I’m not allowed to sell it. Like I would ever consider selling a 500, let alone one with sentimental value

Over here in Australia they are hard to find and if you do find one it will be a complete heep of shit and to top it off they will be asking drug money for it🤪 I mite have to give Ken a call and get one shipped👍

Wow 61 rwhp that bike is a beast of a machine i mean for you and jr to be talking about how fast it is just says it all. So glad you’ve been showing how you know the hp by the dyno but then again you’ll probably still have 4 stroke guy’s commenting, saying how they’d still rather have there 450 and how it would probably lap the CR (yeah right)😆 i watched a video of a Swedish (I think) guy dynoing his KTM 500 excf 4 stroke super moto and where as they didn’t or couldn’t do it quite right with the fan’s and stuff it put out a very respectable 58.30 rwhp. Honestly i don’t understand what the big deal is about which is better as a bike guy myself i like both i mean given the choice I’d take a 2 stroke but I’ve owned both 2 and 4 strokes and i have to say 4 strokes are great but 2 strokes are just more fun and easy to work on and the sound is just music to your ears. Another big bore tamed and ready to be released on the public amazing build buddy as always love the 90’s bikes I honestly think that was the best decade of bike design on all brands. Just watched a vid in Cali hill climb where a CR500 came in 2nd to a worked over 700cc 4 lumper. Mix gas n you will be FAST.
