The fact that the dog attacked unprovoked from so far away is an extreme reaction. No way this is the first time this dog was aggressive. I’m so angry at the owner, because that dog will end up being killed itself after it kills someone else’s beloved pet. It all could’ve been prevented by training, proper equipment (that leash is a joke and reactive dogs need muzzles for everyone’s safety), and an owner who can physically handle their dog. I’m so sorry this happened to Chopper and you. Take care of yourselves❤
First of all a lot of pit bull attacks are by rescue dogs. A lot of dog for small amount of money. Chow and pit bull are two of the most aggressive dogs in the world. In order to avoid injury to dogs or people I carry bear spray. No dogs get injured and no vet bills. The other dogs owners get very angry but I tell them to go wash their dogs quickly. Lowers the drama. Here is nothing else you can do about stupid owners but try to avoid hurting people or dogs. I walk a large CO and don't risk killing other dogs (yes even put bulls). Police are mostly interested in making sure rabies are not involved as death rate for people not treated in time is 100%.
I don't agree with you in total. I have a LGB cross und despite training and having a dog sibling, he is agressive towarts other dogs. There is no lack of training from my side, he has his own agenda. He is smart, he acts normal during dog training but once outside without a trainer he is an a55. So he wears a muzzle to keep every dog and himself save.
A RETRACTABLE LEASH??? On a big dog? On a clearly reactive dog??? Insane. Poor Chopper. What a beautiful, sweet boy he is. You have wonderful pets and I am so glad Chopper is on the mend. I hope he doesn't have trauma from this ❤
@@kittysennpaii97 They are okay, if you can control your dog with your voice. If you wouldn't let your dog off leash, they you shouldn't have them a on retractable.
I’ve lost a dog to an attack like this. His name was Buddy, he was a super sweet little Shih Tzu pup. He was attacked but a pitbull mix (not sure what kind) and had to be put down because his muzzle was completely destroyed. I have ptsd from this event as I was the only one at home (no adults only my super young brothers) and I have continuously had flashbacks of this traumatic event. I sincerely hope your fur baby heals up well Good luck and much love 🩵
I'm so sorry, this is the worst thing to replay in your mind... Have you thought about getting help from a therapist to help you work through this horrific traumatic experience?
i had this happen to my corgi mix last year. two pitbulls broke through our backyard fence and got a grip on my dogs neck. i used my dogs treats to bait the pitbull away and worked but he was on my dog for like 5 minutes. my dog is okay but unfortunately for him he is now scared of any dog that even looks similar to a pitbull build. wish u the best chopper
That's so sad 😞 I can only imagine how your dog feels. He'll probably be traumatized for a while & may have pstd from the attack. I have 2 yorkies & that scares 😱 me to think that could happen to me too!!!
Big traumatic events like this can cause lasting PTSD like symptoms. Don't forget to take care of yourself, as well. Many prayers for you and Chopper.🙏❤
@dea, Yes they can, Im 66 female and I was attact by a dog when I was four damn near ate my brains. To this day Im afraid of big dogs and dogs that have that certain look in they're eyes
I am a dog walker with multiple pit bull clients. This is a list of failures on the part of the owner, first off using a retractable leash on such a powerful dog. All pb’s i walk have a strong leash and either have a harness with an extra handle on it so i can grab them if necessary, or a prong collar (not my favorite, but some dogs unfortunately are only responsive to that). I myself have been attacked by large dogs, and my own dog was mauled as well. You did everything you could in the situation and i am happy to see that chopper is doing well.
@@noelleelizabethan NEVER use a prong collar, they're SO dangerous. Invest in a good harness designed for heavy pullers before it does any permanent damage to her throat.
@@ignightroadharnesses do NOTHING for a dog who pulls. I have a dog who only responds to a prong bc of his high drive. A prong may seem dangerous but a reputable branded one isn’t bad at all, all dogs are different and not every dog can be trained using positive reinforcement.
I understand people who don't like seeing dogs restrained by prong collars. I used a bit prong collars because harnesses don't work on my CO. anything made of leather or nylon instantly gets bitten in half. Choke collars are more dangerous than pronged and my boy has figured out how to shake them loose and off. The prongs work like a comb to hold them collar on place. Good for Tibetans, chows and Caucasians. I never jerk in the lead. He has broken six of them when he pulls hard. Best to be aware of your surroundings and count on other dogs owners to do something stupid.
In my area Pitbull are required to wear a muzzle unless they past a test that they show no aggression and the owner took a test to prove they know how to handle dogs. Unfortunately, most people don’t care about that law.
I'm 75 and have a 95lb Catahoula, Jackson. As the owner of a large dog whose breed is known for being aggressive, it's my responsibility to make sure he is properly trained, has the right collar and leash, and is socialized. I have spent hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars training him. He is fully off-leash trained, but I'm still careful around other dogs and owners. Whenever I've run into a problem with another dog, it's always been with an owner who was not willing to put in the work to train and socialize their dog. So glad to see that Chopper is recovering.
i just started watching your videos today and i literally cried watching this. chopper is so precious and deserves the actual world. bepo and nami are absolute sweethearts too for taking care of you. stay happy and healthy for your family.
Thank you for sharing! It's really important that people train and handle their dogs properly. So many folks don't seem to think it's a big deal and then stuff like this happens. Wishing for a fast recovery for your pup.
Pittbuls are strong dogs, she was probably too weak to handle it. you can't expect dogs to be trained in a matter of one day, just because you see one walking in the street doesn't mean its fully trained.
@@AutumnStuds-nc8rr Wow you're everywhere trying to justify this. You even left a 2 paragraph comment saying it was Hang's fault. News flash if the owner was too weak to handle the pitbull she shouldn't of adopted them in the first place.
As a pet owner, I cannot imagine the trauma of this... If you own a dog, it is your responsibility to train, socialize and care for them. I am 12 and always ask to walk my dog, now I know why I should wait till I am older, we have really never socialized our dog properly, so she is incredibly skiddish and could attack, you never know, as much as she is sweet with us, she might not be with a stranger.
It's good to note that! If you're worried, there are training manuals and tutorial videos you can find online that help give step-by-step instructions on how to help communicate and work with dogs that have issues like that. Just going for daily walks can help, but I like to do things like clicker-training and such to build up trust bonds. The more the dog trusts you, the more the dog will default to you when startled/scared/anxious (meaning less likely to act out and more likely to run TO you than away). If you're worried about attacks, looking up the ways you can pre-empt or stop an attack, spot an aggressive dog before they get close and looking up what sort of tools you can use to break up a fight or help block an aggressive dog from coming in to attack will help. I usually carry a stick of some sort (one of the firm rubber chewbones thats thin and you can grab solidly also works as long as it has a thin/small end) to use for prying apart jaws, if need be, but I DO NOT RECOMMEND THAT unless you have had some sort of training and/or are an adult with a weight that could rival a larger breed dog. Putting hands near a chomping jaw isn't advice I want to give lol If your dog weighs more than 40lbs and has shown any likelihood for pulling you over or getting aggressive, its best not to walk the dog alone even if you're older than 12, unless you're confident you can handle the dog at their worst. If you haven't done so yet, I do recommend getting in on the walk with your guardian/parent, though! That will help you see what the dog is like on walks and in other environments... Make sure the dog gets at least 1 walk a day for and at least 1 hour of activity/play/training total per day to help with anxiety and behaviour, since some problems come from lack of structured stimulation. :)
I shed a few tears watching this as I sit next to my shihtzu. This is one of my worst nightmares and it’s why I am so nervous when I see other dogs while walking her, especially because she is so small. I love my fur babies more than anything ❤ Please, dog owners, make sure you have the correct collar, leash, muzzle etc. and please don’t get dogs that you cannot control/restrain.
What's really scary is that while most dogs will give warning if they're going to bite, pitbulls tend to just run up with their tails wagging and attack.
I have a husky and one night there was this American bulldog trying to attack her but my husky was attacking back and the American bulldog resisted of the fighting
I would often pick up my small dog if I saw other dogs, but back in May 1986, while walking my mini-dach, Mitzi, in a park, she was suddenly grabbed by a vicious (unleashed) pit bull who seemed to come out of no where, and picked her up in its jaw and flung her around violently. I still remember the sheer terror I felt and Mitzi screaming. Long story short: Mitzi pulled through after going through emergency surgery but was left with a permanent scar physically, and I suspect emotionally, too. All these years later, I still remember the horror of the incident.
6:51 EXACTLY, the animals are not to blame, they are animals and they will react to their instincts, the responsability of any attack falls in the human that doesn't leash their dogs or can't control them. Unless they are stray dogs, unfortunately, I believe most attacks are from dogs that have an owner. I really hope Chopper is better now.
Zanawannabe I know UA-camrs lie alot, for views, but use a wee bit of common sense…!!!!! You can quite clearly see the bite marks all over the dog, and the hair is cut off where the bite marks are, and the girl is all marked up also, and she was literally shaking if you can’t tell that this is real then I worry about you…. I really hope chopper feels better soon
I went through this and I felt all alone because no one helped me. It was a pitbull and owner denied her dog attacked mine. My dog finally recovered and we put our home on the market the next day. Glad Chopper is ok!
Had a lady in my block walk her dog without a leash (illegally). The dog was probably about 5'6ft tall if it stood on 2 legs. It saw my 2, 10lb dogs, about 40 yards away and starting running towards us aggressively. I knew it was impossible to outrun a dog, so all I could do was try to get between it and my 2 rotisserie doggos. The lady was some small ass lady that couldn't control her dog at all. She threw her entire body on top of it trying to hold her dog down to no avail. I'm just sayin, don't own a dog you can't handle. This shit is so irresponsible. Glad Chopper was already looking in good spirits after just 2 days 🙏
I'm sorry but did you just call your dogs your rotisserie doggos? That had me on a giggle, on a serious note I hope it never happened again and y'all are okay.
Facts! It pains me to hear these kind of stories as a big dog owner myself. I would never allow my wife to handle our dog since my dog literally eats more than her - for the safety of everyone including my own dog who could suffer the consequences if anything ever occurred.
I am literally in tears while I listen to you. I am a big dog lover and I feel sad . I can't stop crying. I hope that chopper heals from his injuryes 😭🥰😍
Earlier tonight my husky and I were attacked by a lone German Shepard. I'm literally sitting here trying to calm down and fall asleep after what happened earlier. I cannot believe your video popped up. I'm watching your video and my heart is so heavy. I can relate to you in so many ways. You feel so helpless. I kept screaming over and over for someone to come help us. I hoped someone would come outside to restrain the dog. But nobody came. Thankfully, I was able to momentarily blind the dog with my flashlight. We were able to get away, and finally a man came running over to help us. The entire situation makes me feel sick. My heart goes out to you. Big hugs to you and yours.
@Slicedice......I'm so sorry this happened to you and your dog. I pray that your dog is doing okay now. I can't stress this enough - PLEASE ALWAYS WALK WITH SOMETHING TO PROTECT YOUR DOG - pepper spray, a hunting knife, a taser or even a hand gun if your licensed to carry.
@@MlSS.S Thank you for such a kind comment. We're doing much better now. I'm just thankful my dog survived. And you're completely right about walking with something to protect ourselves with. I will no longer walk without some sort of protection. ❤
@@slicedandicedWe also have another product called “pet corrector”, it’s a can of air spray that when sprayed, is loud and quick, so it distracts the dog and can straight up stop it from what it’s doing because it’s startled. If it’s a really bad emergency tho, you’d prob just want to go right for the pepper spray tho. But both could be good to carry, as well as a pocket knife if necessary! Great protection against humans too.

Has he ever done anything? No. Will he? Probably not. Am I going to take the risk that my large dog, who can do a lot of damage in a short time, will EVER have the chance to? No. This whole incident was caused by someone who A) had a dog that they could not control B) was not willing to take necessary precautions to prevent the dog from being out of control and C) was not strong enough to prevent the dog from breaking loose.

IMPORTANT INFO: if a dog bites another dog, grab both back legs from the biting dog and lift them high up in the air as fast as you can. There is a mechanisms in dogs that opens the mouth of the dog. Also you don’t get hurt yourself doing it
This doesn't work, it's an urban myth. You can watch videos of cops trying this and utterly failing. A determined dog will not let go. You need to grab the collar and pull tightly until the dog releases or passes out.
@@spookymcspooks3671yes! definitely look into this because this is highly recommended if they won't let go. They need to be restricted of air a bit for them to release they need to let go to breathe. Others need to look into this! It's great to know.
I'm so glad that Chopper is physically doing okay! But also, don't forget about yourself! Experiencing your pet being attacked / mauled is really traumatic, so please take care of yourself too! ❤
Me too!! 😢I’m a HUGE animal lover and owner…and a rescue volunteer…this happens a lot with a couple small dogs that live down our street who are pretty aggressive and whose owners NEVER put them on leashes or in their yard.on multiple occasions I’ve found them down our driveway in our back yard and had to figure out a way to get them back to their apartment down the street without getting attacked… it’s a big problem for any owner to let their dogs out off leash or unattended around here and honestly it’s never a good idea nor is it safe…even IF it’s a small dog or a dog that walks beside you without a leash.ONE CAN NEVER KNOW OR PREDICT what circumstances might come up and derail you’re ideas or plans…even if the dog is well behaved or calm or friendly… other dogs might not be. Besides that as just proven in this situation, you might not be able to control your pet once they decide to go after something or someone once it’s happening…and if not leashed it can go south very quickly.even if the dog is on a leash if it outweighs you or is bigger than you are, you’re success rate of controlling the situation is very slim if it decides to attack simply on size alone. So please, anyone considering getting a dog, keep in mind that size and strength matter a great deal in those kind of situations and get a pet dog that you can handle easily. Wishing Chopper a speedy recovery ❤️🩹 🐾✌🏻
I love that despite all of that you left your viewers with the message that it wasn’t the dogs fault but the owners lack of proper training! And you couldn’t be more right! I’m watching this later but hoping his recovery was a fast one!! ❤
My pup is reactive to other dogs, so on walks, I try to avoid other dogs. He's always on a short leash, and he wares a muzzle when we are not home. I will never understand retrctable leashes you cannot control your dog with them!!! Im so sorry that you had to go through this. lots of prayers for you and Chopper 🩷🙏
I also have a reactive pup, she was attacked by another dog and since she gets scared and reacts around every dog, I also use a muzzle and short leash just in case, to protect her and other animals, she’s never bit or anything but I’ll not take the chance, also when we’re walking I’m constantly re-training her for it and watching close for tells
@@Guinea_pigsareawsome Girl, shut up. My dog is reactive and in no way in hell would I risk my and the other dog’s safety by forcing an interaction when my dog doesn’t feel comfortable. That’s exactly how accidents like this one happens
This happened to me once. I was only 9 and I still have huge trauma. I was going for a walk in the park with my grandma, everything was going great and we were walking to the car. We were at the bottom of a huge hill and my small toy poodle puppy was doing his business outside of a bush. That’s when this huge off leash stafie started sprinting down the hill as fast as they could. I yelled out “MAMA” in a panic as the stafie picked up my dog’s behind and shook him until (TW) a small lump of his leg fell off. A miracle lady held this stafie back whilst her dogs were in the dog park. I’m good friends with this lady now and Alfie has fully recovered
It happened to me, too. The owner was three seconds from her home and decided to let go of the leash. My dog and I turned the corner, and it ran toward us. It bit my dog, but luckily it wasn't deep. I'm traumatised, so now I carry an airhorn and dog pepper spray, and we don't get near any dogs, no matter how big or small.
We need to socialize and desensitize our pets especially dogs!!!!! You're only harming the wellbeing of your own pet by generalizing that all dogs are harmful. Your pet could eventually become the reactive one even. You don't solve the problem by avoiding it.
@@yvonne.p I think they meant they gon't get close to "stranger-dogs". Usually in someones family or friendsgroup there is someone who owns a dog, then they can socialize the dogs. 😊 But if it's a stranger on the street you don't know if they are a good dog owner.

She said was so difficult to pull away that dog from moose and the lab finally let go. Moose was rushed to the emergency vet by my sister, they found out his stomach and other critical organs were ripped and bit open. The vet put him into emergency surgery to try and save him. But unfortunately.. he didn’t make it. Moose was at least 12 years old, super sweet and adventurous. He would snuggle every chance he got. Moose would go everywhere with my sister, snowboarding, hiking, camping, paddle boarding, and much more. I tried to pick her up to avoid the attack when I saw his dog running at us, but my dog ran around my legs and tangled me in her leash. I've had pitties for years and raised my kids with them. What a lot of people don't really realize is that you have to continually reinforce that initial training with them over and over. My boy now is 15 years old and going deaf and blind, however we still work with him regularly so that he stays safe. It's for his protection as much as for others. It really is a true commitment, for their entire life if you have a dog.
You’re a very responsible dog owner. I love pitties but agree, they need excellent training & constant reinforcement to ensure good behaviour. Unfortunately, those that don’t do so, just add to the prejudice that many have about pit bulls. Not blaming people for feeding that way. I would too if my dog were violently attacked. However, it makes me sad that a few badly/not trained dogs can really turn many of a certain breed.
I have known several owners of pitbull, well trained and responsible the problem is not the dog but the time and constant commitment to educate it, I do not have a pitbull but a male border collie and the principle is the same
When I saw you're dog in the background I was so relieved that we was ok and you're so strong for going through something so hard and trying you're best to talk about it, it's hard because I feel how chopper felt 💔

my goodness I started crying watching this bc I cannot IMAGINE the level of trauma this would inflict. I appreciate you so much for ending off by advising pet owners to be more responsible bc that's exactly what needs to happen to prevent these types of incidents. there aren't bad dogs, just bad owners, and unfortunately a lot of bad pitbull owners... I am so sorry this happened to you and chopper but so happy it wasn't worse and that you and him are ok 🥺❤️ for anyone who wants to protect their dog in a situation like this, I came to learn that choking out the attacking dog is probably the only way to get them to release. I own a reactive pit mix and I am truly sorry that this was your experience. And you are right hun it is the absolute bare minimum to be able to handle our dogs as owners. It is our responsibility for the dog’s safety and others as soon as we bring home a puppy. It doesn’t matter the breed you are responsible for your dog. At 10 months old my boy was attacked by a shepherd mix, a yellow lab and an Australian shepherd. The first dog took his puppy hood and forever changed him. I want you to know that there are owners out there that actually care for their dogs properly and for others safety. Hello, thank you so much for sharing your warmth and experiences. I live in Turkey and found you while searching the internet for people who share similar memories. After watching you and reading the comments, I definitely feel less alone. A Rottweiler attacked me and my dog two weeks ago. My dog is a 7-kilogram, medium-sized Cocker Spaniel. Both dogs were on leashes when we encountered each other on the street. The attacking dog saw us and started pulling, and its owner, a young and weak person, couldn't hold the leash and let go. Later, as I was carrying my dog to the garage where I had seen it, the Rottweiler grabbed its leg. At that moment, both my dog and I were screaming. It started shaking and pulling its leg. I thought it was the end for my dog and I got between the attacking dog and my body. We wrestled on the ground, and I tried to protect my dog's vital organs in a fetal position. The dog's owner was too afraid of their own dog to even approach us. My dog's hip was dislocated, it underwent FHO surgery, and the ligaments in its knee were torn. I'm very scared. We only go outside for short potty breaks, but the owners of the attacking dog deliberately walk their dog in front of our door, and my dog wants to go back inside when it smells the other dog. We are now going to move out of our house.
as a dog owner, that walks their dog regularly...I’d recommend to anyone that uses a retractable leash to be aware of how long you extend it. I use the non-retractable leash which is completely normal and okay to my dog, he doesn’t get hurt at all with it and doesn’t get suffocated...but just to be safe make sure to NOT extend your pets leashes too long if you have a retractable leash for the sake of your pet and other pets...Praying for chopper and you guys to recover safely!
Oh and just a thing...this totally isn’t the pit-bulls fault. I think that it just really needed to get trained properly and socialize with other dogs to lose it’s aggressive thoughts.
@@Hophop_shuji It is both the owner and pitbull faults. Pitbulls were bred to fight, they aren't suitable as pets. The owner's fault is to own a dangerous dog and not take care of it properly. You are a great pet mama. I wish you well and I hope that all of you stay happy, healthy and safe. Much love from Colorado ❤😊
Thank god You are both recovering well❤❤❤...😢😢😢 .... How irresponsable the other owner is!!!! It infuriates me so much!!!!..... Nobody should have a dog they cannot control... Sorry for My English it is not My first language. Sending You lots of healing and Blessings from Venezuela.❤❤
It's so terrifying and jolting when this happens to our companions....I've had it happen several times, even when owners tell me that their dogs are fine off leash, but won't come back when they're called. I started watching the video but it brought back too many sensitive memories, so I'll have to try another day. Wishing your baby a swift and full recovery (both physically and emotionally).
I feel u my chihuahua last year got attacked at my old house by two aggressive pitbulls and she is 8 years old and a small dog so like she could not defend herself I know how it’s feels too have a dog attack ur dog u have had for years and I did not stop crying g and there was another time when we left her outside for a few hours it was like 9:00 and we found hunched up and like whimpering and we brought her inside and she could not straighten her back it was to the point where she could not walk and she peed herself on the floor this is an improvement of how I shared my story and I feel that people should train there dogs on command not out of no where
I'm sorry to hear that. My beautiful pupper has been attacked on a handful of occasions on walks and it is always terrifying. Well accept the time he was attacked by a loose chihuahua lol. He's an American bully ( like a pitbull but thicker) and chihuahua lit into him. My pup just kept looking at me like "whose this fun little guy".
Omg that was so scary! I’m so sorry you and Chopper went through that. I am praying for a nice and speedy recovery! I agree there are a lot of pet parents out there who are irresponsible and I wish people would look out and care more for pets and other animals.
I’m so sad I can’t even imagine your suffering and Chopper’s. I hope he gets better soon and thank you for sharing your story. I think is so important to be aware or understand this can happen, for owners to be more responsible. I was walking to the store that is around our house when the neighbors pitbull scape and I had to pick up my daughter and run. He/she got distracted but other dogs and nothing happened to us but it was so scary. I got attacked at 6 years old by a Rottweiler which I can remember it was so traumatic that I couldn’t be next to a dog for years doesn’t matter the size of the dog.
Good for you though for recognizing the problem lays with the owner and not holding a grudge against the pit breeds. You’re something special for that and one who definitely deserves the love of your pets!
I agree. Plus it would be insanely hypocritical of her to blame the breed as chow chows have a similar bad rap. They are illegal in many places. When you have a breed like a pit, boxer, mastiff, chow, rott, etc you have to be always careful and aware.
Thanks for sharing this and educating people to train and socialize their pets. We are with you .... Hope you and chopper feel better soon.... Hugs and prayers❤
I almost cried watching this, I understand I’m late and chopper is pretty much better but this is so traumatic. I’m so glad you and your fur baby are healthy and ok. Pit bulls are such great dogs when their owners are good people, I’m so so so mad at that pit bulls owner and the pit bull itself. Chopper was so bloody and exhausted at the neighbors house too, showing how bad the attack really was. Also unrelated but I thought chopper was so much bigger, seeing him next to the friendly pit at the park was so tiny! So glad you’re ok, and those people better be paying for his bills and anything else he needs.
That’s awful! Something similar happened to my dog, it was also a pitbull and his mouth was almost entirely over our dog. You could only see his tail and a bit of his head. but before he could do something he was pulled off if it weren’t for that I don’t think he would still be with us today. These people let their dog walk without a leash and had had incidents before and after this one they still let him off the leash where he could hurt another dog. The place they let the dogs loose is also nearby a school with young children. I personally am always very wary of pitbull dogs, since they have been bred to be more aggressive or atleast were commonly used in dog fights. But most importantly because most pitbull owners take them because of this reputation, don’t train them at all and are careless.
Yes, exactly! Pitbulls aren't bad dogs, people just see them as dangerous and some only get them for the status of having a stereotypically scary dog. They don't care about the dog.
Omg im so sorry that that happened to you I cried while watching this video I hope your baby is okay im mad at the owner of that pitbull like every dog deserves a owner but not every owner deserves a dog cause it's a pitbull they can be very aggressive so if your buying a dog train them and especially if it is a dog that can be aggressive im very very sorry for you I hope you and your furbaby are okay please stay safe!!!
At 2:47 ik how it feels when you’re talking abt something that makes you cry and if you say anymore about it, you will 100% cry and it’s like choking you. Don’t worry we all understand :)
Thank you for sharing your story, very glad to see and hear that you both are recovering. Please also take time to heal and care for yourself as well, the trauma from an encounter like this is very real. Your story reminds me of a time when my pup was about 10 months old, we were at the park doing some leashed training and minding our own business when out of nowhere, a golden came up from the side through some bushes. I recognized this golden, I have seen his owner walk him around on a gentle leader - and he seemed to still be very much in training. Apparently they decided to give it a try letting him play off leash that day - this is the first time I have ever seen this dog off leash. Just judging from the direction he came from, he had literally run across an entire open green space just to come to us. The dog sniffed some of our stuff that I had left on a bench - and we were actually walking away from the bench my pup was focused dead ahead at something else - and suddenly circled the golden around to come up to my pup, literally right up to her face and get territorial. I got between her and the dog, he would not back up, my pup was a reactive dog too (not aggressive but she is always very curious about other dogs and people). I was shouting at him trying to get him to back up, and honestly I was ready to punch this dog if I had to just to get him away from us. What were his owners doing? Slowly making their way up to him, calling his name, extremely lax, not a lick of urgency - and honestly it is appalling because I was straight up yelling and there was no way they could not have heard me. The golden eventually turned back when they were close enough, and the first thing they did was scold him. I was pissed, I really wanted to scream at the owners, and I probably should have, but I just wanted to get myself and my pup out of the situation. We were very lucky that the encounter didn't get physical, but I could sense that it could have really gone south if it had gone on any longer. One of the thoughts that crossed my mind during this encounter was, 'My pup is only 10 months old, she's not even a year old. This is not happening today.' We haven't seen that dog at the park since the incident. I hope his training is going well, and his owners a bit more responsible than before.
I’m so sorry this happened to you. It is absolutely my worst nightmare. I have a small dog and i know she would not survive. My old dog was attacked and he was a big shepherd mix. I learned in dog school how to separate dogs and it worked so well back then. If they wear a collar you can take and twist it and pull it up to choke him out. They will have to losen their jaw to breath again, alternatively you can tie the leash around and do the same thing. Anyway i hope you’ll never need to do this.
Wish him a quick recovery! About a month ago we also had our first attack. Luna was playing with a shiba inu and I don’t know ehat exactly happened, but the other dog attacked her. There wasn’t blood and first we thought the shiba didn’t break skin, but an hour after Luna’s neck started to swell. It turned out that possibly there was a small hole on her trachea where the air leaked to her cells and skin. After a week the swelling got down completely, but this bite could have been a surgery easily. To this day that shiba inu goes to the dog park. Luna still loves playing with other dogs, her trust only broke with shiba inus. I, on the other hand, have to re-learn how to trust other owners and dogs.
Hang, Chopper, im really really sorry of what you guys went through. Animals and pet are a huge part of my life. It’s very devastating about what happened in this traumatic event. Sending prayers hope you and chopper can recover quickly with no more pain. ❤
Don’t stigmatize all pitbull owners…irresponsible people make irresponsible owners. I own a pitbull and it’s frustrating seeing irresponsible owners owning these beautiful dogs and not training them properly. This could be the case for someone that owns an aggressive chihuahua or aggressive anything. Most pitbull owners shouldn’t own a pitbull and I get that but don’t generalize.
Thank you for your story truth told about responsibility. Made me remember how a pitbull came running to me unleashed as I stepped out of my car - it jumped nipped me under the chin but got distracted by a responsible owner walking his small dog - the small dog got attacked but the reaction of the small dog owner saved us both by throwing the pitbull into a garbage dumpster until animal control arrived. It’s the nature of the pitbull & I am so thankful for your story & I hope it reaches all dog owners. Wishing you both a complete recovery ❤️🩹

@@Stray.hearts.nature shut up!!!! Its not dramatic! its facts
I agree!!
Agree. W the addition of the retractable leash
Pitbulls should be banned scary they are dangerous

I’ve lost a dog to an attack like this. His name was Buddy, he was a super sweet little Shih Tzu pup. I love the way you’re looking at this and knowing that it is the owners fault and not the dog. I love that!!! I hope he’s okay
We have an 80 lb black lab girl, her neck meat is so thick she don't listen to any leash pressure except with a prong!

@@Jem5122 she was probably in the middle of training the dog
@@AutumnStuds-nc8rr IT DOES NOT MATTER. Would you be okay with a dog mauling you because they were still in training.
Stop this idiocy about training. Demanding that people put in voluntary work will NEVER work.
The solution is to ban pitbull-like dogs.
Putting hands near a chomping jaw isn't advice I want to give lol
If your dog weighs more than 40lbs and has shown any likelihood for pulling you over or getting aggressive, its best not to walk the dog alone even if you're older than 12, unless you're confident you can handle the dog at their worst.

What's really scary is that while most dogs will give warning if they're going to bite, pitbulls tend to just run up with their tails wagging and attack.

I also have a reactive pup, she was attacked by another dog and since she gets scared and reacts around every dog, I also use a muzzle and short leash just in case, to protect her and other animals, she’s never bit or anything but I’ll not take the chance, also when we’re walking I’m constantly re-training her for it and watching close for tells
puppies should never be reactive its not normal dogs are pack animals do not stop them from learning to socialise
Dog pepperspray??😳

I’m sorry this happened to you and poor chopper. It’s really horrible when a dog owner can’t take care of their dog properly. I hope she apologised a million times to you and paid your vet bills. I know this video was posted ages ago but i still want to support you ❤
Same thing happened to my sister. So my sister had a chweenie, (chihuahua & Weiner dog) so he was pretty small. His name was moose. and moose and my sister were walking on the sidewalk until a grey Labrador mix that was 3x bigger than moose, attacked him. He would jump for joy every time he got food and whenever someone would make something he would always run to them. He was like a son to my sister.
I’m glad chopper is okay and safe. Situations like these are scary.
I’m so sorry for your loss, rest in peace Moose 🕊️

HIS ORGANS WERE RIPPED AND BIT OPEN?! Sorry for asking but what did the owner do about it?
@@silly.yuzushi my sister or the Labrador owner? If lab owner then the dog got put down for violence and the owner got fined. If my sister, then she grieved and couldn’t accept it but a year or so later she got a dog named pickles and i believe she is moose reincarnated. Then

My childhood dog (who is a 15 year old shit tzu bichon frise mix) in April of 2016 when she was 7 I was walking her and a guy down the street with a big dog (she looked like a bully mix of some kind) WITHOUT a leash
His dog bolted at me and my small dog, bit her in the neck and back. I tried to pick her up to avoid the attack when I saw his dog running at us, but my dog ran around my legs and tangled me in her leash. She yelped so loud (I screamed loudly as well), and the guy just pulled his dog back, laughed and said “haha she’s just playing” as I’m nearly in tears
I’ll never forget my dog being extremely hurt cuz when I picked her up after untangling my legs, she was shaking and laid her head right into me
Luckily she was fine with nothing major, but I still get memories of this day this many years later and I hate it

I'm trying not to tear up 😢😢. You're so brave for grabbing that extremely aggressive dog away from Chopper. At least you're not hurt so you can give all the care and love to Chopper. I watch a lot of dog training videos, even I have never had a dog. But because of that, I recognize bad dog behavior on the streets. It's soooo important people train their dogs. Wish Chopper a good recovery.
Before hearing that he survived, me seeing him in the back picked up so much burden I was so happy. I’m so extremely glad you guys made it out. The woman definitely should’ve had a normal or better leash on her pitbull. God bless you both. ❤

@BibbleTheAlien Thank you very much. Yes me and my poodle are okay! Aw what kind of poodle do you have?

I am so sorry to hear this happened to you. My family and myself have owned Chow’s since the 90’s and they are some of the most loyal and loving pets. With our latest Chow we expressed similar concerns of what to do if there is an unprovoked attack and our trainer recommended carrying bear spray to help ward off an attacking dog. Back in May 1986, mini-dach, Mitzi, was suddenly grabbed by a vicious pit bull, who was not on a leash, and picked her up in its jaw and flung her around violently. I still remember the sheer terror I felt and Mitzi screaming. Long story short: Mitzi pulled through after going through emergency surgery but had a permanent scar physically, and I suspect emotionally, too.
I would need therapy wtf
The owner of the pitbull should pay you for the vet bill.
@@silzeppelin The owner did pay for the surgery... Back then, it was only $340.00. Today, it would be much, much more. Of course, that didn't make up for the trauma and time off. We really should have thought to ask for more than the cost of the surgery, but didn't think to do so at the time.

My old puppy was with some cats on a trip, it was in another city with my grandma and i stayed home - on that day the neighbour's five rottweilers managed to break inside my grandma's backyard where all our pets were
In the end, my puppy and the cats all died (my dog tried to save the cats but she couldnt handle all of them)
I've had pitties for years and raised my kids with them.
Trash person detected.
💯 agree.
I have known several owners of pitbull, well trained and responsible the problem is not the dog but the time and constant commitment to educate it, I do not have a pitbull but a male border collie and the principle is the same
I have a 7 year old pitbull and a 11 month old pitbull
When I saw you're dog in the background I was so relieved that we was ok and you're so strong for going through something so hard and trying you're best to talk about it, it's hard because I feel how chopper felt 💔

Praying for Choppers and you!
I’m glad your pup is ok and in recovery, please keep an eye on his body language, his confidence and how he acts toward others. Bring him at round safe dogs when he is ready.♥️
I followed the story on Instagram and oh gosh I'm so glad to see that you're both ok. Take care.
Oh no that is so horrible! I am so sorry, sweetheart! God bless you, you are such a loving person. I hope that all goes well. Much love❤️
Praying for you and Chopper to fully recover quickly both physically and emotionally!
as a dog owner, that walks their dog regularly...I’d recommend to anyone that uses a retractable leash to be aware of how long you extend it.
But you cannot train a pit out of its instincts. And pit owners should be aware of that.
A pitbull is dangerous, an ignorant owner makes it twice as dangerous.
@@Isariamkia Woah, You can't just go around saying all pitbulls are dangerous. Maybe try socialising with one first. This is clearly irresponsible ownership.
@@VarshaArvind-n5y They're OK until all of a sudden, they aren't. Google Drué Parker. There are a LOT of cases like that. If the owner had any idea what those dogs were going to do, they'd have never let a four year old near them.

I was walking to the store that is around our house when the neighbors pitbull scape and I had to pick up my daughter and run. He/she got distracted but other dogs and nothing happened to us but it was so scary. I got attacked at 6 years old by a Rottweiler which I can remember it was so traumatic that I couldn’t be next to a dog for years doesn’t matter the size of the dog.
i am so sorry that happened to you and chopper. i’m glad you and chopper are recovering well both physically and mentally.
Chopper, I am so sorry you and your mom had to go through this. Get well soon sweet boy. Hang, you are a great mom.
Thank you so much for sharing. I am so glad that you show so much love to your pets. ❤

This is not happening today.'
We haven't seen that dog at the park since the incident.
5:43 it’s the fact that the other dog did not have any wounds on it because of how gentle choppers really is😢🥹😭
I hope you all are recovering well,I also really hope that chopper won’t have trauma from this accident, praying for a fast recovery!
