thanks for reaction! and sorry for the long comment...
It is nice that you keep exploring kpop! In my opinion, some groups have specific sound one has to get used to, but after some accomodation time one starts liking songs more and more, at least it was my experience with kpop. so maybe with time you will find groups which you will like - kpop is very diverse to have smth for everyone (just not necessarily mainstream).
a little explanation of terms: kpop GROUP - they dance, kpop BAND - they play instruments. Kpop group members might know how to play instruments and might be really good at it, but this is not smth expected for their job.
so Stray Kids and ATEEZ are kpop groups. Xdinary Heroes is a kpop band (not every Korean band can be considered kpop, but I don't want to go into further details, just wanted to say that the classification might be more complicated).
Stray Kids are currently one of the most popular kpop groups and ATEEZ has a somewhat similar music style, therefore many Stays are also Atinys.
Xdinary Heroes are from the same label as Stray Kids and debuted relatively not long ago (in 2021), so many Villains (villain - is the name for Xdinary Heroes fans) are originally Stays.
therefore I just wanted to say that if you started with Stray Kids I am not surprised at all that your main recommendations for other groups were ATEEZ and Xdinary Heroes :)
    my recommendations:
ONEWE (a kpop band, prononciation is one-we) - song "gravity" (it's a bit more chill but I really like it a lot)
Xdinary Heroes - songs "strawberry cake" and "man in the box"
Stray Kids - song "awaken" (they have many songs with rock vibes, but I would say this one has the strongest. it doesn't have an MV, but you can check a so called "lyrics video" made by fans to translate the text. some lyrics videos have unrelated music at the end to avoid copyright - so don't be surprised). another recommendation - "side effects"
NCT 127 (a kpop group) - song "sticker" (that type of songs which some people wan't even consider as a music and some others will call it a master piece. one I know for sure - it rarely leaves people neutral. it is not rock)

Day6 is another respected K band that a lot of idols cite as their favorite. A good one to start off might be Sweet Chaos or Shoot Me. Also they have an English version of their song Zombie that you’d probably enjoy. Day6 is also on the same label as Xdinary Heros.

Xdinary heroes title tracks are usually super fun! But their b-sides are always EXTREMELY meaningful, alot of people prefer their b-sides more!
They have a b-side called “strawberry cake” i think you would like it! And xdinary heroes are a k-band! Not alot of kpop groups are bands, they usually dance! And xdinary heroes are a rock band under a kpop company and are treated like kpop idols!

What a nifty reaction! I'm always glad to see fellow rock/metalheads try out kpop and actually be honest about it. I feel like there's a lot of pressure to be wowed by it just bc it's different and lots of people love it, but honestly if you're not bowled over that's totally fine. I love XH with my whole damn heart, but I don't get all butthurt if I introduce them to someone and they don't also fall in love immediately. Of course it's gratifying to see people become new fans of a group you support, but as someone who's watched quite a lot of reaction vids I always prefer honesty.
I will quibble just a touch on the lyrics. Like, you're not wrong that they're relatively generic. But it's a title track which means they're playing it almost daily at music and variety shows for a month or more after it's released, so it has to be easy to understand and fun for a live audience to chant along to. Lots of anthem-type rock songs aren't exactly lyrical masterpieces, but they gotta be energetic and get people moving along to the song, which is also the purpose of kpop title tracks. Also, I don't know if you caught it at the end but the way they sing "If you seek it, why owe you" makes it sound like they're saying "F U C K Y O U". Which to be fair is a move ripped right out of Brittany Spears' playbook with her song If U Seek Amy. But it's still relatively scandalous in a very conservative industry like kpop to work in clever little swears like that (yes, XH are a band, but they're under a kpop label and work w/ kpop producers). Especially in a title track which, like I mentioned, they are playing more often than any of their their other tracks and on broadcast tv shows too. When Bang Chan, the leader of Stray Kids (they're under the same label as XH) reacted to it he was like "dammnit, I wish I'd thought of that first" lol. I promise they show a looot more lyrical prowess, not just word play to swear, in the rest of their songs. They actually have a new album coming out Oct 11th and they're listed in the writing and composing credits for every song on the tracklist.
A little background on the band if you're interested: Yes, they are a band and they all play the instruments for real. They're also pretty young, ranging from 25 to 21. Their drummer Gunil is the leader and he moved to the US w/ his family in middle school so he speaks the most English and also went to Berklee College of Music (a top 5 music school here) on scholarship for drumming. All of them played an instrument before joining the label JYP as trainees, some ended up learning a different instrument and a couple originally trained to be in a regular boy group but were reassigned to be part of a band project later on. XH was essentially designed to be a spiritual successor to Day6, JYPs first really successful band under it's sub label Studio J, after it's members dispersed for military service and solo projects. Day6 played around with different styles, but overall they were generally more of an indie or soft rock kind of sound, while XH has more of a playful youth vibe and incorporates a lot more pop punk along w/ the kpop noise music thing that Stray Kids has mastered. I love their title tracks for the fun bops they are, but they really get to shine in their b-sides. Everything influences them, from hair metal to Tim Burton to screamo to r&b ballads.
Some recommendations for where to go next if you wanna listen to more of them:
Strawberry Cake - b-side from their first album Hello World, one of the best to show of their insane vocal talent. Jungsu and Jooyeon are the main vocalists and they are both suuuper powerful but with very different tones that end up working surprisingly well together. All those screams in Freakin Bad? Yeah, those are all Jooyeon. Little baby rockstar with a monster voice. He was only 19 when they debuted, wild.
Hair Cut - title track from their 2nd album Overload. I'll be honest, I don't know if you'll actually like this one, but I think it's really fun and shows off how much they're willing to experiment even in title tracks.
Tomboy - cover of a song originally by kpop girl group G-idle. They are masters of covers and know exactly how to honor the spirit of the original while putting their own twist on it. This one especially is really different from the og, very strong rock sound and even a little hint of the growling Jooyeon wanted to learn how to do, but it still has that rebellious vibe that G-idle's version had. Also, too many kpop boy groups tend to be almost mocking when they cover girl group songs, or they change it so much that it's unrecognizable. But XH were really respectful of the talent put into the og version (G-idle write and produce most of their own music, which is a rarity in kpop).
Impossible - cover, original by british metal band Bring Me The Horizon. This one they stick fairly close to the original version, but of course their vocal style is pretty different so it ends up feeling a little more playful and they even incorporate some original raps verses that work shockingly well w/ an alt metal song.
Bicycle - b-side from their latest album Deadlock (Freakin Bad is the title track on this one). Recommending mostly just for the last bridge/chorus that makes me feel like I'm ascending to somewhere epic every time I listen to it. It's great.
Good Enough and Dear H - b-sides from Deadlock. These songs are often paired together (the music videos match up too) bc they're the band's first forays into softer, ballad-type songs. Again I really don't know if you'll like them, but Good Enough makes me tear up almost every time I listen to it just bc of how beautiful it is and Dear H feels like the 80s rock ballad I never knew I needed. I am not a slow jam or ballad girly at all either. But these are both so emotional and so good that they both easily made it into my top 5 XH songs the instant I heard them.

YOU DEFINITELY NEED TO CHECK Korean pop-rock band - DAY6. They`re amazing! They have a lot of different styles of music (some of the songs have anime vibe, some of them emotional, some have a retro style...) They have 4 lead vocalists!! Their vocal range is awesome! I`d advise you to start with: 1) "I Wait(아 왜)", 2) "Shoot Me", 3) "How Can I Say(어떻게 말해)" Honestly, it so hard to choose TOP 3 of their MV`s cos ALL THEIR SONGS ARE TOP OF THE TOP.

Xdinary Heroes will release a new album on October 11th, from the teasers it sounds heavy, you might reach more people when the song is hot.
Angie said she would like an english song, they have one fully in english called Good Enough but its a ballad, i don't know if you enjoy ballads.

You can also listen to "The Rose" there a indie-rock group. Some songs you can listen to are "Baby" Red" and "back to me ". Also "back to me" is manly in English, that way you won't have a hard time to understand.

if you're interested there is a guide for them called A HELPFUL GUIDE TO XDINARY HEROES (2023) by a channel called Dewie. Best songs are B-side Title songs (which this is) are more designed to draw kpop fans in apart from Haircut which is more Grunge. B-sides and covers like Ghost of you by five seconds of summer or Hellevator by Stray kids are where they shine. one of the songs off of the most recent album Deadlock called come into my head reminded me of Limp Bizkit and Gun n' Roses. They have a full English song called Good enough which is there first ballad the second ballad in Korean is on the same album it's called Dear H.

I think it is a common misunderstanding that Korean bands aren't K-pop groups. But they're. K-pop is an industry. And they definitely fall under it. The only difference is they're rock bands that play instruments live and don't dance. But they're promoted the same way as other K-pop groups are promoted. They are nominated under categories that the other groups are nominated. In fact, Xdinary Heroes won 2 MAMA awards (a _K-pop_ award show) last year. Best New Male Artist and Best Band Performance. This proves that they fall under K-pop. :) Xdinary Heroes are very talented and their B-sides are amazing as well. Strawberry Cake is one of their hardest songs so far. Good Enough is a full English song, a Rock Ballad.
They have also covered some songs. Welcome To The Black Parade by MCR, Hellevator by Stray Kids, Impossible by nothing but thieves, and Drown by BMTH.

I can't speak towards the intentions of the person that left the comment about you remarking on them wearing makeup, but I can let you know that we as a fandom (kpop in general) have heard some not so great remarks made about them wearing makeup. Which i think in turn has made us collectively a bit sensitive and defensive towards said comments.
I personally loved your reaction to it and thank you for taking the time to clarify what you meant behind the comment.

Also Xdinary is X-dinary. Not extraordinary 😊
