Solo and Kuryakin, badass, hasn't been a duo on TV like them since, RIP Robert Vaughn, forever our Napoleón and in his hey day David McCallum was one the sexiest men ever on TV, so glad he is still with us.
Maybe, Napoleon was more of an older brother to Illya than the implied mate. After all, they had their own various girlfriends. They were working friends, not bro-mates.

I recently saw a pre-Illya episode and it just didn't work. Napoleon is nowhere without Illya.
I think it was because the pre-Illya episodes were pretty straight. Serioues James Bond. Illy joining it added tongue-in-cheek.
