Was at the match as a 14 year old, West Stand Block D, Row O, Seat 4. Was probably the first time I'd experienced the whole ground singing Bubbles at the same time. Still sends shivers down my spine. Managed to see every game home and away in that Cup run and didn't miss a West Ham FA Cup game for years afterwards.

Thanks for posting this. I remember seeing the 6th round v Arsenal, the semi and the final, but I always wondered about this match. Pretty tight affair but the Hammers just about deserved to go through. Strange to think that Phil Parkes was in goal for WHU in the 1980 final!

I was at this match, the place was packed. I went to every round that year, bar the third round match at Southampton.

What's wrong with it? That's not a proper 70s winter football pitch, there's actualy some grass on it!
