The fact Ian Wright adopted a kid when he was practically a kid himself, before he had even made it as a professional.. that says a lot about the man Ian Wright. Legend.
Carra holding back tears when talking about his son playing and looking to him for help… that’s a good dad right there, acknowledging how to be a better man for his son. 35:19
Jamie.. never loved you, never hated you but can I just say, the way you spoke about activities you would do if your son couldn’t play again was amazing!! Shows no matter what, you’re a great dad 👏 Pete and Wrighty both amazing but that story in particular hit me. Great show, great dads and very lucky sons.
Worked with Ian in Manchester years and years ago and his sons came to the studios where their dad was working. What a bunch of brilliant people, Ian is EXACTLY like you see him on screen and his boys were lovely. ‘Good lads’ 😂
The fact Shaun Wright-Phillips isnt actually blood-related to Ian Wright, and still became a professional footballer, is an incredible testament to how Ian raised him. When we see sons of famous footballers get to a high level themselves, we tend to presume it's largely down to genetics. Just goes to show that with the right coaching and nurturing anything is possible for young kids
Some players, regardless of rivalries, are just so likeable. Ian Wright is one of those people that you can't help but love, seems so genuine and a really nice guy
Such a healthy conversation. Top blokes expressing important shades of vulnerability, showing the beauty and scariness of fatherhood and growing into a man. Loved everything about this episode
It's so important to have a father that is supportive and believes in you. Loved hearing Carra's story about the time he so wanted his son to do well, that he feels like he overstepped the mark with his encouragement.
Shame Nigel Clough hasn’t been invited on yet. It would be great to hear about growing up as the son of Brian and the amazing job he’s now doing at Mansfield.
Leicester winning the league is still one of the most surreal fairytales in football. If helped that Leicester found two ridiculously good generational talents at the same time in Mahrez & Kante & it came together with Vardy falling into the best scoring form of his career. The stars aligned amazingly for them to make it possible but that's not to take anything away from them, most of that squad were cast-offs & they all played their part. It's one of those seasons that still deserves talking about & having documentaries done about it even decades from now.
@@mcfcguvnors they won an fa cup also after the prem . More successful than arsenal for the last 20 years . But yeah the owner died and they fell away but they will be back
Great show! Amazing insight into their experiences as fathers. Jamie making a list of ventures they could pursue together if his sons dreams were shattered got me. Happy Fathers day all!
Really Interesting hearing Peter, his son was on The Rest is Football a few weeks back, so to hear the two sides of Kaspers growth and the relationship with his Dad is excellent.
Not sure if this will reach you guys but worth a crack. You Uncles never miss, love the content, love the stories, thank you. Much love from Cape Town #ggmu
Honestly up there with one of the best overlap shows ive seen!! The importance of showing how paents should act with your kids not just in general but at academies or playing in a team, just let them have fun. And the stories were unreal, Carra's just hit me with what he went through with his lad but all 3 guests amazing putting parents on the map and good and bad aspect of ppl with there kids! Bravo overlap 👏 i love these shows! I look forward every week to escape with the lads. Thank you
This was an amazing watch and really great to see these legends so human and real, they all seem like amazing dads and so supportive it’s made me respect them 1 million times more. Jamie’s story about his son had me tearing up. Love the vid❤
As a dad it’s so difficult to do or say the right thing, these lads show what we are all going through, we just need to be there for our kids, help them when they are down, support them when they are doing well, the only thing our kids want is for us to be there.
I've been telling a lot of people to watch this week's Stick to Football and now this will be suggested to everyone aswell. Absolutely great, entertaining, funny content when everything else is trying to push negative drama onto you for your attention.
@@zaim_3130 (allegedly) I mean if he did say it I don't get why he is so pally with him now. That's something unforgivable really. Maybe Ian is just a saint I don't know.
This episode was really amazing, i had a smile on my face throughout the whole hour. This channel is a gem, thank you Gary for entertaining us this season and long may it continue. I grew up without a father and i wish one day, I can experience all this with my son or daughter. I can´t wait for next season, thank you again!!!
this was such a good, honest, episode. appreciate the4se legends for being so vulnerable and sharing their stories. a lot of learnings to glean from their own lived examples. great watch.
So good this. Young father myself my little boy 7 just starting out at football wants to be a keeper. Really makes you think and to take a step back. Let them enjoy football and be kids
Not me tearing up several times while watching this episode after the Viera overlap episode (so many nerve-wracking moments hit home similar experiences with my own stepson). Two great episodes.
If this was a one off special then I honestly feel like you guys should keep this series going, it's very interesting hearing for ex players about their own careers but you also get a insight to what it's like to be a Parent to a footballer too. Great watch, thoroughly enjoyed this video!

No wasn't worried, this channel as been really successful.

Not at all. You can still discuss football and get players on just because the seasons over not to mention other sports and ideas.
Carra holding back tears when talking about his son playing and looking to him for help… that’s a good dad right there, acknowledging how to be a better man for his son. 35:19
Yep, I like Carra in general but showed a different side there. Top man
Made me well up a little bit there.

dont agree we 'presume its genetics', but a nice message anyway
If ye dads Ian wright ur gonna have the minerals bloods not always thicker than water
and as much as they say they try to stay out of their sons business etc (and i'm sure they do) every club will want these stars sons in their academy
What’s the saying? Anyone can be a dad but it takes someone special to be a father!
Being Ian Wright’s son though will get you a trial and that foot in the door, that always helps! Still got to do the business though obvs …
Best thing I have watched in along time. I found quite emotional. Wrighty what a legend adopting Shaun at 19 years of age proper man.
Every parent should watch or listen to this. Had me tearing up doing the grass as my 2 year old was waving at me through the window😂

Probably said that about Harry to himself too 😂 “he’s like a father to me”
Listening to Jamie here brought a tear to my eye. Proper parenting that.
You can see how proud Peter Schmeichel is of Kasper. And its very rare that both father and son have had decorated careers.
That’s powerful stuff Jamie talking about his own son’s injury experiences, fair play to him for being honest about it.
Wholesome episode. Jamie's story with his son's injury is gut wrenching.
Wrighty’s honesty is so disarming. He’s a total national treasure.

There's so much emotion in Wrightys voice when he talks about his family. 🥰
Jamie Carragher blew me away with this! What an Amazing Dad
Glad to hear the FULL story behind Ian Wright and his teacher Mr. Pigdin
How you can not like Ian Wright is beyond. Brilliant brilliant person.

This is a massive insight into the mental side of the game and finding the balance between being a dad and being a mentor. ❤
When you know Ian Wright's background with his own father his little comments and questions break the heart.
Such a great episode, please get Carra and Wrighty to talk to more ex-players such a great dynamic
Wrighty looks so good for his age, a pleasure to listen too
