This lineup is the longest in the band's history. Cannot underestimate the importance of consistent membership in helping GS achieve its present-day excellence. yuri continues to surprise and amaze. That fill she tosses off at the end of the second verse before the pre-chorus right at the downbeat is mind-boggling. Such a capricious dare-devil!
Their biggest live, held at Hibiya Yaon on Saturday, November 18th, was a huge success. This song "Baku Baku" had everyone headbanging and raising their hands. My muscles hurt from waving hands and shaking head. On the spot, it was announced that the mini-album "Ace", which includes this song, will be released on February 28th next year. The live video of this day will be broadcast as a TV show in January, so be sure to check it out. Furthermore, along with the domestic live schedule for 2024, there is also some pleasant surprise information regarding DOLL$BOXX's comeback and tie-up live with GS.
Totally agree, we are lucky to have a band like GS - nobody like them, not even close. ofc people who like/expect a certain style will always find something with them, that is out of their comfort zone. To those, who like the potpourri of styles, GS will be their go to band. Before Angie and Yuri joined, they were running out of steam from going 365 days per year for almost 10 years. Talk about an invigoration and reinvention by the new lineup. I loved their pre 2019 stuff just as well, it just was a different band altogether, so I don't try to compare their iterations. Cheers Ryan :)
Great commentary about this band. Gacharic Spin is definitely not following a trend but blazing their own path. I like a wide variety of music genres so I was an instant fan of GS's "chaotic" blend of genres that flows. That transition to Oreo's dreamy jazz solo was pure brilliance. I can see why some people that are locked into a single genre might not understand Gacharic Spin but they are winning fans. I also agree with you about Yuri. I had my doubts about her when she first joined since not only is Hanna a great drummer, but Yuri has a different groove which of course gave their songs a different feel. The truth is, Yuri is an amazingly talented drummer and the perfect choice for the direction this band is taking.
Hibiya was great! Open air arena. Acoustics were fantastic! I could hear every instrument and voice. They played for over 2 1/2 hours. Pure fun. Flowers of congratulations sent by a lot of bands including Show-ya and others.
I 100% agree with them finding their groove and what they want to do. They've scaled back the most bat shit crazy (don't think we'll hear a new Ben-Jan-Dan any time soon) and write better more cohesive songs that are still as creative. Angie is almost unnecessarily good as a front woman. Can't really think of anyone else like her. She has had 100% control over the audience since the first recorded show I've seen of her. Her joining made them not only better, but also gave them new creative, but focused, energy. Yuri also brought something new and more stable. Oreo has said that with Yuri they've been able to scale back the amount of back-track and for the first time have songs without any back-track at all live. There is no doubt Hana is a great drummer. She's a classic multi-instrumentalist drummer. They're usually super creative and gets influenced by the other instruments they play. Getting a multi-instrument drummer playing a straight 4/4 is virtually impossible. Yuri is a drummer-drummer. She knows how to edit herself and play what is best for the song instead of what might be most exiting.
I think they are somehow more serious/less silly, yet still fun....of course I enjoy all eras of GS - as a huge fan of Oreo I like the early stuff for her more prominent feature, but its her decision to step back and be more comfortable and focussed in the current formation, so I have to be happy with that too. A lot of their more recent stuff along this vein also seems to be written, or at least initially created, by Tomo-zo so perhaps that's a part of it? Looking forward to more uploads and news announcements after this Saturday's big live show :)
With the last couple of albums, they’ve gone from maddeningly talented and chaotic to just ridiculously amazing. “W” was a masterpiece, and looks like an achievable level as long as this lineup holds. Agree 100% on Yuri being a force behind the kit.
I couldn’t get into them at first. Not sure if it was adding Angie and Yuri or if it was the right song at the right time but I’m a fan now. I’m seeing them for the first time tomorrow in Tokyo. Tonight I’m going to see Nemophila in Nagoya and then Sunday I’m seeing Miyako’s piano shows. That’s a lot of great music in 3 days!
They not just found her, they basically "stole her away" from Bridear as she was already announced as a temporary replacement drummer for Bridear before going to Gacharic Spin and Bridear getting Natsumi. I think it worked out for both bands in the end (both drummers seem to be a great fit where they are), but I can imagine some people at Bridear not being too happy at the time. But yes, I agree that she is way better than you would think on first glance. It's obviously difficult to stand out with people like Oreo, Hana and Angie around her who just steal the attention away by how they are on stage, but once you start to listen for Yuri's drumming, you notice how good she actually is.
@@suminidharma7199 Yes, she was in Lagoon until they split in 2016, she is even marked as the "leader" on one of the websites I found. I don't think I ever heard Lagoon, I picture them as a pop rock band, but who knows. She apparently had an other band called HighChe's from 2016 - 2018, but I don't think I ever heard of them before now. HighChe's is described as pop rock.
Adding Yuri and Angie has taken the load off Hana’s shoulders of being lead singer and drummer at the same time. Hana moving up front has given her a new view of audience reactions. This must have a big impact on GS’s creativity.
I agree, i deep dive to their older stuff, didn't like the most of it. But every song anggie featured (Mindset) to this new song, i like it all. This song is what i want from them, slap bass, back and forth vocals, groovy beat, rapp from anggie
Thanks for another great reaction to another fantastic GSpin song! I think it’s pretty cool to see the way the original members have shaped Angie & Yuri - Gachapin 5.0 seems limitless. 😎
I'm sure that's the case, but I believe it's also true that Angie and yuri have contributed a lot of their own style, charisma, and character to the band overall. Each member seems to feed off of the energy of the others. Cannot ask for a better chemistry.
i honestly hope they do not get to formulaic what i love the most about them is that you never know what your gonna get from song to song and usually during the song lol

I think it is undeniable that rock musicians such as John Cipollina, Kurt Cobain, and Tom Araya have an aspect of "doing it because that's all they can do" when they are rock musicians. And eventually, they conveyed the appeal of music to us by pursuing the goal of "getting to the bottom of it”. On the other hand, Gacharic Spin, some of whose members have released instructional videos and They have taught musical instruments from scratch to a famous female idol group whose members are seen on TV almost everyday. They can play any genre of music with sufficient quality when called upon to do so. They are different from so-called rock bands. Their music sounds "experimental" because of this "ability to play any genre". And, If a listener hears one of Gacharic Spin's songs and likes it, but Gacharic Spin never release the same kind of song again. This is the reason that Gacharic Spin is a band with a high threshold in a sense as Ryan says. But if there is a band with players who can play any genre, it will be very interesting to see what kind of goal they have in mind, or if they will just keep on groping their way forward with no goal in sight. It is also interesting that the girls are not intellectuals, and they have no background in gifted music like Jill(Violin) of Unlucky Morpheus. In that sense, they are very raw. Let's look forward to their future.
I didn't know about that "not intellectuals" part. They have no background in "gifted music"? I don't know if you mean classical or what, but I think their music is gift enough. Mindset is all the evidence I need of that.
