      Aunt to two Kings (Frederick of Denmark and Felipe of Spain) and great aunt to a future king (Christian of Denmark) and a future queen (Leonor of Spain).
      Edit: since her late husband was prince William’s godfather, we can assume she will step up as godparent to a future king as well.

    Back in the early 70s, my college room mate was Greek-American. Normally quite scholarly and objective, he would become rapturously incoherent whenever Queen Anne-Marie was mentioned. Years later, I now understand why. Thank you so much for posting this.

    My god she is beautiful. I don't know if my ancestors did the right thing to abolish the king as head of state because essentially to me it makes no difference with the current useless politicians we have but it would be nice to have a royal family. I mean they are our royal family still.

    This is so sad: She and Her Husband Constantine (unprepared as They were) simply were unable to understand what the honest + honourable Greek officers' motives were (Revolutionists = undogmatic ἐπαναστάται of 1967: they were no 'perjurers' or ἐπίορκοι !) and what they (21η Ἀπριλίου 1967) really wanted to achieve. The grave misunderstanding between the two sides was predetermined. So sad. - -
    - What do you mean "so sad"?
    - What I mean, today both sides (with a much better enlightened Royal player) would have long since known that both players (Greek government and Royal Court) were pulling together in the same direction. So sad indeed. An opportunity was missed. What a tragedy.

    • @miltospep21
      @miltospep21 2 роки тому +3

      These officers stormed into King's his house with soldiers with automatic rifles, a tank in the front door and Pattakos storming in holding a pistol... Now this does not leave much room for misunderstanding! Pattakos and Papadopoulos used the name of the unsuspicious King to mobilise the Army and establish the Goverment that they leaded. So much for their honesty! All this dishonest staging made the impression that it was the King behind the coop (or Revolution if you like it so, just keep in mind Army overthrowing elected politicians is called coop, civilians overthrowing anyone is called revolution...) and created a word that kept mixing these two separate things: Βασιλοχουντικοί! Now, fatally, it would be the King to collect the people's wrath for actions made by these officers in his name, entirely against his consent.

    • @monoecumsemper
      @monoecumsemper 2 роки тому

      @@miltospep21 Thank you for your voluble comment: are you by any chance mixing up the Colonels' appearance at His 'house' on April 21st 1967 (to inform the King of what's going on is quite a normal thing to do when you topple a politically unstable regime - believe it or not, by that time the Colonels never wanted to abolish Royalty in Greece -) with that of December 1967, when the King simply disobeyed their orders and crossed a red line challenging their power and authority (which was later called the King's "coup") and which made him leave the country for good ??

    • @miltospep21
      @miltospep21 2 роки тому +1

      @@monoecumsemper no, I am not. I'm clearly talking about April 21st. You can find Pattakos interview on that if you like. There is Constantine's interview also that coincide on these facts. Also mention that orders do not go bottoms up, King cannot disobey because the King is not obliged to obey in the first place. It was the colonels stepping on their oath ceased to obey on the first place that crossed all red lines, and suddenly you speak of King's coup (anti-coup in reality) the moment you characterized the real coup as a "Revolution". Goverments are subject to the King, not vice versa! Finally the King had no plans on leaving Greece. If he did, he would have found an excuse for the pregnant Queen to go to Denmark and never losing her child. It was the Chunta that was comforted by expeling Constantinos from the country, orelse she'd have to imprison him and face civil unrest and international condemn. The definite answer is: Colonels violated their oath to the King and the Greek people, colonels expeled the King, they escorted him to Larisa and put him in his plane that barely made it to Rome.

    • @monoecumsemper
      @monoecumsemper 2 роки тому

      @@miltospep21 False ! The King as we all know accepted the new administration/government as of April 21st w/o any oppositional move just as He would have accepted new "rules" and "terms" under a Fascist or a Communist regime, had either of those totalitarian right-/leftwing extremists had come to power. That's that. Get your history right at last as well as your basic knowledge of statesmanship !!! - Your guess is as good as mine: did the King knowingly make a scandal in Dec 1967 or was His disobedience no more than a stupid mistake/error ?? Why not re-read Stylianos Pattakos about this in "21η Ἂπριλίου 1967: Διατί; Ποῖοι; Πῶς; Ἀθῆναι 1992" and later editions. You'd be surprised to see how objective he is about that event. For the rest, I decline any further ""discussion" with you on this point as you don't have a shred of a clue and I'm not your teacher. END OF DISCUSSION.

    • @miltospep21
      @miltospep21 2 роки тому +1

      @@monoecumsemper The King accepted the Chunta in the middle of the night at a gunpoint. He even insisted at taking a photo with the protagonists to show with his expression that he was actually a hostage. If you were objective you would find that out. All these at April 67. Of course it's end of discussion: discussion needs democratic spirit not consistent with an extreme regime supporter and most of all arguments. As far as being my teacher, well let's just say it's highly improbable, even if you wanted to.

      English Royalty, at least till Elizabeth and Philip, has no actual relations to British people! Their true dynasty name are Saxeburg Gotha. All royal families are related to eachother making them related to no country and all the countries they rule, simultaneously. The house of Slesvig-Holsten-Sønderborg-Lyksborg of Oldenburg ruled Hellas for over a hundred years. They ruled the Army victoriously against the Turks and Bulgarians, King George, one of the most respected Kings in Greece was assasinated by an anarchist walking in the street... Well I think those gives them enough right to be called Hellenes...

Your attempts at the weak and lowest form of attack shows your weak roots in your culture . Yes I live in Australia now . You need to educate yourself. My culture is top honor around the world. The Olympic games. Maths, science, pholosiphy, medicine . In fact the sugical tools used 2500 years ago ,are still used today . Geometry, .............so many discoveries. The Greeks had the first railroad back 3000 + years ago, the first doors that opened with out been touched ! . 5 story housing with indoir plumbing , hot and cold water running water, baths . Greeks invented the first umbrella , the first machine to take coins and give food. Today doctors have to take the Hypocratic oath once they pass their medical degree ,in irder to practice medicine .
