Gavin Lux was primarily a SS in the minors. Thinking he was blocked by Seager, they moved him to 2nd. The beginning of 2024 was not fair, coming off a major injury and tossing him out there. He is better at SS than we saw.
I'd consider rotating Betts between shortstop and second with occasional duties in right or left. And intermittent resting periods for better recovery. You have to keep Betts and the rest of the team fresh. I would bench Ohtani more often for resting periods and moving Freddie, Muncy, and Smith into the DH role and try to calculate the frequency range of rest for players which has a variable rate of unknown specified times. That rate has to change every year as players age.
The Dodgers tend to aquire middling relievers and instill tweaks that turn their careers around the past few years. That's a positive sign. It's one of their strengths.
Mookie again at SS makes no sense, he struggled to a point it was taxing his bat and, if they want to protect him from wear and tear, SS is not the place to do so. If they don't want/trust Lux there then trade him. Both of the HS Kim are an upgrade to Gavin's bat and both can play in multiple positions, Ha-Seong (SS, 2B and 3B) and Hy-Seong (SS, 2B and LF) that can solve the issue in the mid to long term. The Arenado trade will only complicate things and he's declining already. They DO need some trades so they should seriously seek Tucker and if they get Teo for 3-4 years, that would give enough time to see what will come from DePaula and Zyhir.
Question on Freeland... Why are guys somewhat down on him being able to be the Dodgers future starting SS? AF is a Top 100 prospect on multiple sites. IMO, from what I have read / heard, his defense is big league ready. He just needs some more reps at the plate.
@DodgerBlue1958 I get he's not ready at the start of the year, but he finished strong at OKC, so a solid start to 2025 in AAA and he could be ready by mid-season.

over more than a 5 week period he hit .362, the highest in MLB. Hope he does well for the next two years and if he signs with someone else he does well. Dodger fans should always think of Mike Davis and Gavin Lux fondly. Both drew walks before epic home runs in World Series games and both played an important part in games which clinched World Series wins for the Dodgers.
Teoscar was never going to sign before Soto. If he really wanted to stay like he said he did, it wouldn't have mattered and he would have signed now. It's a business.
Fourth year is a no brainer for Teoscar. None of these large contracts will look great at the backend. Teoscar at 36 will still be serviceable. The dodgers were willing to give Taylor a big contract but not Teo? WTF
Dodgers seem to like trading with the A's -- they should get Mason Miller and give A's some mixtures of players who can be starters (Lux? ) as well as some of their infielders who will be stuck in AAA
Soto is probably going to make $800M when it’s all said and done, but Ohtani $700+$70M+ of endorsements alone will probably be the first billionaire in baseball
I believe in intermittent resting periods throughout the seasons for varying timeframes i.e. ; Like two week breaks to rotate recovery and increase health . But like intermittent fasting rest periods could vary time in length like a few days to weeks ,months,or a year or more. It's a theory I have that i believe makes the most sense geared towards October baseball where I believe the entire team should be 100% fully rested for the postseason. It's a testable theory. The only real issue is the insane rules commitee enacting bizarre rules affecting the roster flexibility with detrimental affect. Which increases INJURIES. That points to evidence of strict insanity by the power structures behind the scenes.

My son played with Joey Gallo on a travel ball team in Las Vegas he l always played first base my son was the shortstop and pitcher they played from 12 to 14 years old they went to different high school, played against Harper to so no, Gallo can’t play shortstop
Soto is signed to age 41, so why is the talk that Teo, at age 32, should be offered only a 3-year contract? And why wouldn't the Yankees or Red Sox offer him 5 years (maybe more) to placate their fans from having lost out on Soto?
Dodgers Absolutely 💯 Must Prioritize 💙 TeOcar Hernandez at this point 👉 that or deal with a Dead Outfield 😂 🤣 Andy Pages will be a Joke in Right field 🤣
Betts probably shouldn't try to play like a superstar at short and be flashy. He's turning 33 next year and without a prototypical body type . He probably needs a slightly longer glove fingerwise to snag the ball. And being decent at short making plays consistently . And strategically no way should they plan to have Betts play a full season at shortstop without long resting periods and shifting him to second when Lux is possibly in a platoon situation again vs lefty pitching. If they don't give Ohtani,Betts, and Freeman alot of off days during the season that will be reckless endangerment of trying to manage their health and workloads . At least a week at a time rotating guys periodically. Using some options from the farm with an overflowing farm system. Like look at Hoese. He's pushing 30 . Even if he's not a complete player he's aging and has all his options. Why not rest Max for a few weeks or a month or two and allow Hoese to play? He might get hot and then you could trade him. He also might start to play better moving up a level like Knack did last season. Some guys need the bright lights and spotlight to start to shine on stage. Others are no good in the beginning then start to like all the fans in the seats watching them later. You never know how they're going to respond until you put them in the spotlight sometimes.
Betts is starting to age too much to tackle the shortstop position on a full time basis. I have alot of testable theories that could improve things. I dream them up as I go along. I believe in trying something different like rotating the shortstop, centerfield ,and catcher positions frequently with a few players during the regular season. Regular season games are generally easier to play compared to the more focused energy in postseason play. Having three ,four, five guys rotating at the harder fielding positions during a 162 game schedule might just increase offensive consistency in say guys like Smith. What I feel has to be considered is more players in this age have shown me that playing everyday generally has a negative impact on production during the seasons, increasing breakdowns in postseason performance, and increasing injury percentages and types of injury severity across the board statistically. A hundred years of stupidity. You have to evolve at some point!
We’re living in the Dodgers golden era and as a fan I couldn’t be so happy. The first thing I did when the Dodgers won the WS is I hugged my Dad and told him that I loved him for making me a Dodgers fan. He used to take me and my siblings to Dodgers stadium when Fernando Valenzuela was pitching.
Outman is trade bait. I don't think he's going to start hitting the ball is he? It looks like they have no room for CT3 now. They could move Chris with 15 or 16 million and another team can absorb his cap hit. They could try to get something for him knowing how Friedman likes to operate . But trading Chris doesn't require a return if his cap hit significantly lowers the CBT. Paying an estimated 15-16 million cash with Chris is much better than double with the CBT over 100% at over 300 million in payroll.
What team would be dumb enough to take Taylor and his contract. The only way the Dodgers could trade Taylor is if they absorb the vast majority of his salary. The Dodgers are worried about the CBT and it isn’t preventing them from making any deals.
@@dorothygale1104 You didn't comprehend or read the post very well. i pointed out that they'd have to send a significantly large portion of his remaining 20 million (maybe 15 -16 million) to get another club to accept him. Or even all 20m. But it would be worth it because his cap hit is double the 15 million he's owed this year since they're over 300m in capspace and have to pay over 100% in taxes over roughly 302m. They're over 330 right now and still need to sign Kershaw and Kike. So if they trade Taylor and at least 15 million cash they save 30 million in his salary plus the CBT (tax) . So it's probably a no brainer unless I'm missing something. Plus where's he going to fit on the roster? Shohei's taking up the fifth outfielder's spot as the DH. Conforto,Pages,Rushing, and Edman are the four outfielders. That leaves Kike and Rojas as the backup infielders. So how would Taylor even fit into the mix? It looks like they have to either release Taylor or trade him. And because of the 100% luxury tax on a payroll well over 300 million it most likely makes the most sense to trade Taylor along with a majority of his 20 million and all of his salary next season to save 15 million in taxes this year and possibly another 5 million in taxes for 2026 if buyouts count against the CBT . I'm not sure about that. Probably not though.

And I change my opinion often as I'm learning. I 'm always aiming to improve and be better tomorrow than I was yesterday intellectually. I look at Edman as a true super utility guy.
