My absolute favorite brush, a mid-size length, but fairly thick when “loaded” is my horsehair brush. But one thing I have learned both by listening to you, my tutors, and even several US distributors who also do calligraphy and art; is that it is very individual, which one works with your “spirit” as well as your own anatomy and range of motion. It also depends on exactly what you are doing with it. I personally have a bit different anatomy and have had to improvise in how I hold and move the brush. (Frequent dislocations of shoulder, elbow and history of fractures of my wrist and thumb. The arthritis doesn’t help much either. 😊). But I have found that for practicing on magic paper, medium size calligraphy and much of my painting (bamboo, orchid, willow...fish and even my kitty ink painting); my horsehair brushes have been PERFECT! As for my smaller characters and thinner outlines, I have a small rabbit hair and small all weasel brushes I use. My main issue is control over the strokes and the stiffer hairs give me more control over my brush. I have a few I’ve gotten in the past few weeks that I haven’t really worked with enough to determine whether they will “fit” me yet. I suppose I’ve been in a bit of a “comfort zone” recently as I concentrate on the language.
2 of the companies who I will be working with, changed their requirements a few weeks ago at the behest of the Govt. I’d originally been scheduled to take HSK 1 next month. NOW, I have to have HSK 2. I’m keeping the HSK 1 test date and added HSK 2 for the first week of Nov because they desperately need me BEFORE the Holidays. Speaking of which, I’d better get off UA-cam and back into my practice books! 😁

The black is water stain, when dried up, it disappear and can be reused thousands of times.
