I wish there were more videos like this on this channel. Very interesting stuff
Maruuuuuuuuuk !!!!
Those were the good old days.
I'm Boston guy from the 60's, played hockey growing up, I remember thinking, they have hockey in cal, back then the hockey was mostly in my area, Canada, Midwest, but Florida, cal, Arizona didn't even have rinks, I don't think.
Charles Schulz was a big baseball and hockey fan, so he paid for a lot of Little League facilities.
@@davidlafleche1142I played in a youth ice hockey game in Santa Rosa, Ca. at the Redwood Empire Ice Arena owned by Charles Schultz and he refereed the game too.
Everyone knows about the Original Six (GO WINGS!!!) but the expansion of '67 was what I would call a solid sequel overall. Okay, these "California Golden Seals" aside (whoever the hell they were), the '67 class gave us the Pittsburgh Penguins (5 Stanley Cups), Philadelphia Flyers (2 Stanley Cups and usually at least a solid all-around team), St. Louis Blues (won the Stanley Cup a few years ago and usually at least a solid all-round team), LA Kings (2 Stanley Cups) and Minnesota North Stars (it was a CRIME when they left Minnesota but they seem to have found a permanent home in Dallas and won 1 Stanley Cup there).
0:10 Er, Seals already left California when Star Wars premiered.
*I know the Sharks are trying to honor the CGS with their reverse retro, but....yeah...I'm not digging on it. I will say this, though - it looks a hell of a lot better than NJ's black alternate jersey. Yeesh!*
I think it’s one of the best this year with the gloves crazy
You mean the new New Jersey "Jersey" jersey?
Speaking of California no mention of the LA Kings with the purple 💜 and gold
Yeah, good point, such crazy 1970s colours back then. Loved the Kings home and away jerseys... the yellow pants!
The only team I ever saw the Habs play at the Montreal Forum. Les Phoques en Or de la Californie. Didn’t see them with the white skates.
I saw them at the Forum, some players were missing 'cause they were students.
Comedian Freddy Lewis alleged to be a minority owner of The Golden Seals.
Little known fact: Comedian Freddy Lewis claimed he played for the California Golden Seals NOT the Oakland Seals! xoxo The Clarences
Don’t get it - the actual golden seal logo is still rubbish but way better than this look, the 90’s sharks were the best look they have had
2:04 - better take a screenshot of that. Bobby Orr getting totally schooled. Not gonna see that often
now more teams in the sun belt, sharks, ducks. very popular sport in california
GET RID OF THE MUSIC!
Would be a good relocation for flames 😂
San Francisco Flamers
There is a team in San Jose already. And legally speaking it is the descendant of the Seals/Barons
Forget about that, Calgary is finally getting a new building
NO!! Canada can't afford to lose any more hockey teams. If any team should relocate, it should be those damned Coyotes. But of course, that weasel Gary Bettman will do anything in his power to keep them in the desert, where they DON'T belong.
Look at a map. San Jose is close to Oakland. SEALS/SHARKS...let's GO!!
I know this is about the Golden Seals but why is Bryan Trottier wearing a cowboy hat?
He's from Western Canada and is a country guitar/singer.
The Sunshine State???
They only wore white skates for one season.
Known more for their uniforms, and not winning a playoff series. Kind of like today's Leafs!
the Leafs are in their own Universe.
"to the Sunshine State..." ???
The history is kind of cool, but the jerseys are hideous. San Jose really missed the mark this year with their jerseys
They are EASILY the best they've had in their history.
The green and gold scheme was from the A's, who had rather cool uniforms.
@@teajay3671 Their best jerseys and uniforms were their originals from their inaugural 1991- 92 season.
Wasn't worth the time that went in to creating this clip.
You as being you mean.
get a load of this guy
