- Can we make good quality rose water with dry rose? The answer is Yes! However, there are a few steps important to make good quality rose hydrosol by steam distillation.
Rosewater is rose hydrosol made by steam distillation. Rosewater is normally made from fresh roses. Dry rose has many benefits of storage, cost effective, all year round availability. It will becomes much easier if we can make rosewater with dry rose, so we can have fresh rosewater even in winter time.

I would love to share knowledge about botanical herbs including its benefits, how to use and extract backed by scientific studies. I am also excited in sharing hands on operation of extracting different herbs including leaves, roots, flowers, barks, and whole plants.
Thank you so much Dr. Leo for this video! I had not been soaking my rose buds overnight.
Great video 💚 Wanting to get into rose water with the dry petals so this was super helpful.

using the
1.5 litres of water after soaking,how long do you steam it and how much hudrosol can be harvested?
Hi, the general rule for making high quality hydrosol is 1:1 ratio between the amount of hydrosol and amount of herbs distilled. So if you are distilling 1 liter of lavender which is a full column of LT3000, you can make 1 liter of high quality hydrosol. You can make more hydrosol but will be diluted one. We have another video explaining how to tell end of distillation: How to Make Best Hydrosol? When to stop distillation. Experimental demonstration, easy to follow!

However with condensed material like root you can make more hydrosol.
@@LeTimeLeo Thank you so much for the info!! To clarify, you said 1 liter of raw materials, does it mean that I fill up a 1 liter beaker of the raw materials regardless of weight?
@@karenevers-foo7974 Yes. As I mentioned this is a general rule. However for more dense mateiral such as root, bark, more hydrosol can be made from. Please refer to my other video talking about how to tell finish of a distillation.
