I’ve become addicted to watching people watch these movies for the first time. It just fills me with so much joy to see people experience these masterpieces for the first time. Can’t wait for part 2! :D
Appreciate it! It'll be out later this week
Haha. Me to. Lockdown has strange effects.
Legit, someone's gonna have to stage and intervention because this is at least the 10th person I've watched now
same!
HAhahah me too, these months I have been watching people reacting to the LOTR, over and ver again :D
He calls him "Mister Frodo" because he works for Frodo and Bilbo as their gardener. Also Frodo and Bilbo are high class rich as heck hobbits.
Tolkien was greatly inspired by his own experiences in the war about this. He observed, and had himself, close and lifelong friendships between the officers (often middle or upper class) and the common soldiery in the trenches, where the class did not get in the way of their friendship but the reality of the class divide was nevertheless maintained and respected
Also, Frodo is 11 years older than Sam, which would put him as a young adult while Sam was still a young adolescent
@@thewestfire9729 oh, woah
@@thewestfire9729 Sam was also an adult, as Frodo was about 50 and hobbits come of age at 33. Pippen is the kid of the group.
"Sam is the MVP" yeah, that sums up the whole trilogy
He called it super early too
That and "Fool of a Took."
You treat the ring as a character, one who has his own will. He wants to go ba back to his master, so his corruption is strongest when his master's agents are near
That makes sense!
That is a really good explanation. It’s hard to quantify the ring’s influence. :)
Exactly! It uses its will to manipulate the bearer, and you notice that in Frodo's character development throughout the film. As well as other characters who are influenced by the ring. Particularly Boromir, who was under the rings direct influence for months.
The reason those 9 nazgul hesitated to cross the river is because that's the border of Elven territory.
This gets a lot of first timers. And they also make comments about them going down the river instead of back to the safe bank. The actual wraiths can’t see, but the horses can and the horses don’t have the same instincts to go to the side that “people” have. I put people in quotes cause the human-like-beings are many in this and while they are different, they have a core of humanity. The wraiths have lost that but they are kind of human-like-beings.
Also the Elf in the books was an ancient elf that fought against Balrogs in the first age. The nine weren't so keen about trying to fight him, but in the movies it's just Arwen.
@@seawind930 There were two Glorfindel. The first one fell in Gondolin or shortly after, if I remember correctly.
@@racernatorde5318 He is one and the same. Because of his heroic deeds and sacrifices, he was resurrected during the third Age of middle earth
@@mathurinkerbouchard8931 Oh, that is interesting. I did a quick check on the wiki and apparently this was only really explained outside of the books? That would explain why I always asumed them to be different persons.
The moment when Gandalf hit his head against the ceiling was actually an accident, but Ian McKellen (the actor) just kept going, and they left it in.
Its a myth.
You're not wrong for noticing similarities between Dumbledore from Harry Potter and Gandalf. Harry Potter and essentially all modern fantasy from Dungeons and Dragons to World of Warcraft and Game of Thrones owe a lot of their ideas and tropes to the original Lord of the Rings book trilogy, which was first published in 1954.
That is amazing to hear
We could add Star Wars too I think, as Obi Wan has the same role of the wise guide who does magical-like stuff and protects and trains the young hero.
@@lazyshoggy thats the heros Journey, that an ol trophe, and star wars and LOTR are not the first ones.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hero%27s_journey
Dumbledore and Gandalf are not very similar though. If anything, they’re both versions of Merlin, but taking on different aspects of the Merlin mentor figure.
@@Hirnknaker That's true, but we tend to forget that it happens in other styles than fantasy too.
They were wrong by the way. Even if you don't watch the extended cuts, there are millions of reasons to watch these films.
Good to hear!
I can't agree with that. Especially in the latter movies they leave out so much important stuff like the scenes between Faramir and Boromir, and Saruman's death
@@vanyadolly but they also kinda spoil the plot of RotK by showing the King of the Dead's decision, thereby taking away most of the tension of the siege of Minas Tirith. Also a lot of the extended scenes are redundant or are only understood by people who've read the books. Also also, that Gandalf vs Witch-King scene where the WK has to check what that noise was instead of just killing a completely defenseless Gandalf is laughably weak and makes the Witch-King seem way less threatening. But the bottom line is: getting into a three hour movie you might not like is already daunting enough, let alone 4 hours. Also also also, I didn't say the extended cuts were worse; I said that even for the theatrical cuts, there are millions of reasons to watch them.
@@vanyadolly As someone who was confused by Saruman having a dagger instead of an arrow in his back as he fell from his tower, I can confirm he did die in the theatrical version.
"Sam is the MvP"
Dude, you have no idea how true that is.
Prolly too late now but...
He will see... Oh yes... He will see.....
That scene there Galdalf talks about a wizard never being late and acts all serious about it with frodo and then they become all friendly and laugh has always made me smile every time ive seen it XD
I love how crazy Bilbo is almost everyone's intro😂
Haha it is?? I had no idea to be fair
16:13 The 9 are the humans who received the rings, over time they became dominated by Sauron and turned into the ringwraiths.
Isildur didn’t lose the ring per se, it made itself slip off his finger
Yeah, that's the thing to keep in mind here. It can't, like, shoot off your finger and fly around the room on its own or anything like that, but it has the ability to sort of... nudge whatever's going on around it to its advantage (or Sauron's advantage, at any rate) in subtle sneaky ways. That's part of what Gandalf meant when he said that it wants to be found. It decided that Isildur was no longer of any use since he was about to get shot and all, and that it needed to find a better host to latch on to.
Z Myrddin actually, the ring can expand and shrink its diameter at will, to an extent. It grew bigger to slip off his finger.
@@user-wl8mf3dq6f Right, but that's what I meant. It loosened up just enough to fall off from gravity, it's not like it walked itself down his finger or anything. :P
@@sleepyburr Indeed. This seems to be the main point that most first-time Lord of the Rings reaction channels don't understand - they blame characters (Frodo, Gollum, Boromir) for actions that are down to the machinations of the Ring.
@@Pixelologist Still not as bad as a reaction from one reviewer who started feaking out because he couldn't understand why would anyone want that ring if it does bad things to people.
I’ve watch the extended editions for over 15 years now, and I never knew that you could translate the untranslated Sindarin in the movies with subtitles. Thank you Rival Reacts for curing me of my stupidity
TheWestFire hahaha i can’t imagine watching it without that being translated, the amount of confusion
"These guys and their 6 dinners..." lol yup you understand Hobbits already
I got to say, I love how much of this stuff you're picking up on. A lot of these smaller details people tend to overlook or don't understand
Thanks! I try my best haha
No shame to be spooked by Bilbo in that scene. That scene must be among the best and most unexpected jumpscares.
It really is. So good.
That and all the Nazgul scenes. Despite not being a horror/thriller, this movie has some world-class tense moments.
The Elves made all the rings for themselves, under the guidance of Sauron (they didn't know he was Sauron)
Then Sauron made the One Ring and when the Elves figured out what he was doing, he made war upon them to retrieve the rings. He got all of them except the 3. Then he distributed the rest to the Dwarves and Men hoping he could control them.
And those three were the only ones that Sauron's hand had never touched, during their creation.
You were right about the black riders being the 9 men from the beginning. Quick history lesson: when Sauron created the One Ring it gave him influence over all the other rings of power and their bearers, now the Elves removed their rings to avoid his influence, and the Dwarves stubbornness allowed them to resist Sauron, but the men easily fell into his grip, forced to forever serve him as long as the One Ring exists, they now exist as wraiths, beings that are neither living nor dead, it makes them indestructible to most things but they can be scared off like you saw in the film
Didn't the Dwarves also sort of forget about theirs and it just became part of their treasure hoards?
Rival!!! I can't believe it. You even hear Saruman say "So you have chosen death", then you say to us "that's like a Star Wars line" but don't recognize that Saruman is Count Dooku. I'm so disapointed in you man lol.
I was SO close but not close enough 😂
@@RivalReacts Christopher Lee was a F##ing LEGEND R.I.P. www.imdb.com/name/nm0000489/bio

"Sam is the mvp" 18:15
Truer words have not been spoken.
11:47 the year Bilbo mentions is (just) how the Hobbits count time, since they came to the Shire!
It is actually the year 3001 (on Bilbo’s Birthday) in the Third Age how most of the Free People count Time in this World!
There is also a time jump of 17 years in the books between Bilbo‘s 111th Birthday and Gandalf’s Return/Frodo’s departure from the Shire the movie left out
15:29 imagine the ring the most corrupting influence that exists... the more powerful the wielder, the easier it is to corrupt him, especially if someone wants to use that power for good deeds
Yeah. Boromir is *desperate* to protect his people, which is why he's so easily swayed.
More powerful, more motivated, bigger dreams. If you're not in it for the simple life, it's gonna have a field day.
Actually, Sam is Bilbo and Frodo's gardener. That's why he calls him Mr. Frodo.
And why "trimming the hedges" was the first thing he thought of as an excuse for eavesdropping.
Bilbo trying to get the ring from Frodo scares me every time when I was a kid.
Let me tell you now, it’s best to watch the extended version for the third movie
We're doing extended versions for all of them, no worries!
Rival Reacts awesome! I just found you and subbed. The extended versions of these movies (especially the 2nd and 3rd) are so much better. I’m glad you are jumping into the extended versions without being asked to do them! Can’t wait to watch your reactions
I remember when this came out in theaters, such memories
I can only imagine
Yes, the book he is writing in is actually the story. Basically the author Tolkien pretends like he didn't write the books and that Bilbo and Frodo have written them and we are reading their story from them.
"Ah, Pippin you goof!" If you only knew...
PS: The reaction starts at 7:24, excuse my long intro 😅
EDIT: One part of the video will be muted sadly, as the video got blocked for anyone in Denmark (for some reason, just them) to view, so we're gonna have to work around it like that for now!
7 mins try an EFAP intro lol😂
He calls him "mr. Frodo" because Sam Works for him. He is his gardner, and friend. And, in the books they say Frodo Also aged slowly because of the ring... He is a good 15 years oldr than Sam
yes, he is much older than Sam and he should look like this in the movie as he was the oldest of 4 hobbits. Though actualy its 12 years between him and Sam.
I can’t tell you how many times I have watched this trilogy. The extended version DVDs contained additional discs with loads of information about the creation of these films. And those videos are just as interesting to watch. One detail I always remember is how the actor who plays Gandolf, Ian McKellon, talked about the filming of the Council of Elrond (when they are all arguing about what to do with the ring). He said that in the moment that Frodo declares that he will take the ring, he played it as if it was his son declaring he would be going off to war. He turns to Frodo with great sadness yet pride. Since Tolkien was so greatly influenced by his own experience with war I found that a fitting sentiment. And I always think about it in that scene as Gandolf closes his eyes and turns to Frodo.
I also love the moment on the mountaintop when Boromir picks up the ring out of the snow. As Aragorn tells him to give the ring back to Frodo we see that he is clutching his sword. And as Boromir turns away way he throws his shield up over his back. These details can be easy to miss and I love how they communicate so much with these little actions.
There is such disappointment in Gandalf's eyes. It's like he knew things were going to lead to Frodo taking the Ring, but he was really hoping he was wrong. A whole lot of "I'm proud of you," with an equal dose of "but why did it have to be you."
17:48 "i´m afraid of spiders..." LOL
(you will understand me)
Also the person who plays Bilbo is Ian Holm he passed away about 2 months ago
Man that sucks to hear! Rest in peace
@@RivalReacts Ian Holm acted in lots of movies as well as onstage. If you ever watch Alien or The Fifth Element or The Sweet Hereafter or a number of others you will see him. He starred in a touring stage production of King Lear, and that show is available on a DVD.
Remember that Ian Holm managed to cameo and appear as Bilbo one last time in the Hobbit films.
In the 1980s, the BBC did a radio series of The Lord of the Rings. Ian Holm played the part of Frodo.
@@simonbeaird7436 Its great - pristine - radio adaptation of LOTR with excelent role of Ian Holm. Whose voice at that time was more adequate to the portrayal of the age of book Frodo who is 50 at the time of the quest - as Ian Holm was then 48. This adaptation was recorded in 13 episodes.
Actualy I think that sir Ian Holm was the only actor in history who played not only both roles - Frodo and Bilbo but also - technicaly - he played both roles 2 times :)
- First time he played Frodo in LOTR radio version recorded in 1981.
- Second time he played Frodo in LOTR radio version but it was new recording which were added to this version in 2002 after the success of Jacksons LOTR. Holm played Frodo in new prologues and epilogues recorded esp for new release of this adaptation on CD post-movies.
- First time he played old Bilbo was in Jackson's LOTR trilogy from 2001.
- Second time he played old Bilbo was in Jackson's Hobbit trilogy from 2012. - he played old Bilbo in prologue and epilogue of the Hobbit trilogy which was sort of connection of the two trilogies.
The Shire is the whole land - a "country" - entirely populated by hobbits. Hobbiton is just one town within the Shire, which is the town where Bilbo and Frodo live (and the Baggins family, for generations). There are many other towns in the Shire. And some hobbits live in areas outside of the Shire, such as Bree. In the book, there are a few hobbits that work at the Prancing Pony.
Did you recognize it‘s actually Christopher Lee that played Saruman, the same guy that also played Count Dooku? 😅
The roles are even comparable... both started as powerful beings on the good side but ultimately have fallen to the dark side due to corruption, becoming power hungry and evil influence on them (Sauron; Palpatine)
Wait no i didnt 😂 he seemed WAY older here so i never thought it was him, even though star wars was later (i think?)
@@RivalReacts In fairness, he IS way older. By several thousand years. Best. Leo.
Leo Gallagher 😂 you mean Saruman is older then Dooku, yes 👍🏻
Rival Reacts well, they had good prosthetics in LOTR! All the Orcs were them too (in comparison to the Hobbit trilogy where they rather used CGI)
Christopher Lee was actually younger during filming of LotR (late 90‘s) in comparison to Star Wars Episodes II and III (early to mid 2000‘s)
I just saw the extended edition this long weekend. 11+ hours! And it was AHMAZING
So glad that you're watching the extended editions
Tolkien is considered the Grandfather of modern fantasy with his works largely inspired by such tales as Beowulf, The Canterbury Tales and The History of the King of Britain. Many writers including George RR Martin, Andrzej Sapkowski and Patrick Rothfuss all openly admit that his works heavily influenced the way they look at fantasy and they probably would t exist without him.

You haven't seen nothing yet...(ROTK)
Greetings from Catalonia!
Can't wait for more (Saludos! Me encanta Cataluña)
Excited for this! These movies are some of my favorites. I prefer the theatricals honestly, but the extended has some good extra stuff.
The best part for me is the music
For sure! I sadly can't show too much of the music on youtube because they were really harsh on this video but as someone who loves game of thrones, the music always stands out
Don't forget The Last Goodbye from the Hoobit too. That carries so many feels.
The ring # is due to the number of “nations” three Elf Nations 7 Dwarf etc
Makes sense!
@@RivalReacts The other part that they dont talk about in the movies as much is that the elves made theirs on their own, the ones made for men and dwarves were forged by sauron and so much more under his influence.
Also the Elven rings were the most powerful ones beside the one ring, made by them for them.
@@RivalReacts and Tolkien died in 1973. Reverse that and you have 3791. 3 for the Elves, 7 for the Dwarves, 9 for Men and 1 for Sauron
I envy you... I wish I would forget these movies to experiment them for the first time again. Enjoy !
Seeing people enter Middle-Earth for the first time fills my heart with joy.
Also, Nazgul arent scared of water, the reason they wouldnt cross the river is because that marks the area that would be entering Elf Territory where she is much more powerful
Moreover, the water belongs to the area of influence of the Valar Ulmo.

I just found your channel a few days ago and you are literally my fav right now. Its amazing that you can pick up this little things from the story
Don't worry about confusing wizards. Its common.
Dumbledore is inspired by Gandalf and Gandalf is inspired by Merlin. They kind of bleed together in memory.
"Sam's the MVP."
My dude... you have no idea.
Re: the spiders, centipedes, & worms creeping out when the 4 hobbits are hiding under the tree near the beginning: the Nazgul (Ringwraiths) are so repulsive and evil that all things, including creatures of nature, abhor them and cannot stand their very presence. That’s also why the farmer’s ferocious barking dog backs off whimpering with just one gaze from the Black Rider. Their assault is both physical and psychical - affecting the mind with terror. The essence of Sauron is in them. That’s also why Merry’s arm was injured when he stabbed the Nazgul’s leg, and Eowyn was mortally wounded when she “killed” the Lord of the Nazgul. It’s unclear if even that would have killed him if Sauron himself was not destroyed with the destruction of the One Ring.
Yes! Extended cut for the win.
A particular group of elves helped make all of the rings of power with Sauron, who had disguised himself so they didn't realize who he was. Sauron made the One Ring by himself and basically imbued it with hacks to reach through all the other rings and control their wearers. He launched a war against those elves, reclaimed the rings, then distributed them secretly to powerful men and dwarves in order to ensnare their leaders and lead them into servitude. The master smith of the elves had forged his three most powerful rings without Sauron's help, and the elves kept them hidden from him, but they can't wear them safely if Sauron has the One Ring because he can potentially reach into their minds through it. The numbers 3, 7, and 9 have a lot of symbolic significance for each of their respective races in other parts of the Tolkien legendarium.
oh yeah lord of the rings? subscribed 💪🏾
Good to have ya!
19:12 when Hobbits know and describe their own complicated degrees of relationship 😂👍🏻
Icelanders could really learn from them 😉
Bagging family is an Upper class within the Hobbits, Sam is working class Gardener. Even thou they are similar age and friends Sam is showing respect for Frodo’s station. Like a lord of the manor and his gardener.
To answer your question at 9:35: The elves made the Rings of Power, but Sauron took those from them to give it to other races easier to manipulate. The Elves kept The Three hidden, until the very end of the War of the Ring.

I always enjoy other people's reaction, since I think these movies (maybe even more than the original books) can be enjoyed by nearly everyone, even those who dislike high fantasy.
Still, while I love the extended editions, I wouldn't recommend them on a first watch. They include a lot of good stuff and also explain many things that are left unanswered, but the flow of the theatrical, in particular in the third movie, is much better.
THANK YOU. I'm a die-hard fan of these books and movies but even I know the theatrical cuts are not only Jackson's performed versions but are definitely better paced and much cohesive experiences for new viewers. The extra stuff is great but it also severely undercuts the pacing of these movies.

Sam calls Frodo "Mr Frodo" because he's Frodo's gardener. There's a class divide between Frodo and Sam that slowly melts away as they become dear friends. I loved that you already guessed the Black Riders/the Nazgul were the 9 men with the rings that got corrupted, you're so attentive! I also appreciated that you mistrusted Aragorn at first, just like Sam does (in the books)! He introduces himself as a (and is) a friend of Gandalf in the books, but I guess the movies don't really explain that. So happy to find a LOTR watch-through where the person is not just mocking the movie and trying to be funny. You're genuinely appreciating the movie (and picking up on subtleties), and that's so cool to see! LOVE that you're watching the extended edition. Looking forward to watching the rest :)
In the theatre the first night, when Bilbo freaked out the entire audience figuratively tried to move back one row.
14:29 Sam and his dad kind of work(ed) for Bilbo and Frodo... and there are Hobbit clans with more influence and wealth in the Shire, like the Baggins, Brandybucks and Tooks... Sam (Gamdgee) is basically a normal commoner in comparison (and yes, in the book Sam, Pip and Merry are several years younger then Frodo in comparison to the movie depiction)
Yep Sam's father was the gardener of Bilbo's house/garden (I guess ? since the roof is part of the garden too) and Sam started to work for him and Frodo too. They are in a master/servant relationship as much as a friendly one, since hobbits don't really care about social status.
All this village around Bilbo's house is actualy on Bilbo's lands and most are homes of his tenants. So Frodo was "young master" before he inherited Bilbo's house and after it he was Mister Frodo as the owner of all this green land around :) Hobbiton is the town closest of his house. The other "great families" lived in other towns and families settlements. Buckland was province of Shire under the care of Merry's family Brandybucks and Merry's family home was near the town of Bucklebury but this ancestral home was called Brandy Hall - it was big house on the hill over the town. Both places were near the Brandywine river which is main river in Buckland part of the Shire. "Bucklebury ferry follow me" - thats why Merry knows the road, its his area, near his village.
The reason Samwise calls Frodo "Mr Frodo." is because his dad, Old Gaffer Gamgee, and him work as gardeners for the Bag End(Bilbo's estate.) Sam and Frodo became friends at a, relatively, young age. But when Bilbo left, he left Frodo the entire estate. Making Frodo Sam and The Gaffer's boss and landlord. It''s just proper etiquette.
I cant believe u left out the wizard fight, tht scene is awesome
One of my favorite movies Lord of the rings. You did amazing job on this one.

Well, the year in the Shire is 1402 or something around that. For the entire world it's the 3019th year of the Third Age
I'm a huge LOTR fan and I love it when anyone gives the series a chance, especially the extended editions.
Regardless of your opinion, you have my love and respect for watching these films and sharing your reactions. That said, I do hope you enjoy them!
Thanks! The next ones are coming up very soon!
Frodo is 30 when Bilbo leaves, Sam is 17 or something close to it. Frodo is 50 by the time they leave the Shire. Due to the ring he stops aging. As many have said before, Sam and his father served as Bilbo's and later Frodo's gardener. By the reckoning of hobbits Sam is barely considered an independent adult when he gets strong armed into following Frodo.
I want to add too that the reason they do not like water is because of one of the Valar, a god, he is one of the few that remained on middle-earth instead of retreating to Aman(the undying land and home of the elves). He rests/lives in the water/rivers, and he doesn't like the agents of darkness, and as such is easily roused into anger, especially if the Elves call... he likes elves.
The elves only made the Three Rings for themselves, but those rings were very powerful, and designed to preserve and heal rather than to control or dominate.
Fun fact: 1937 was when The Hobbit was first published, so all the rings going to the elves, dwarves and men was an Easter egg.
Also Tolkien died in 1973... what a coincidence
Ahhhhhhh, I'm subscribing! You already knew Sam would be super important, you hate spiders (RIP, same, have fun meeting Shelob), and you really pay attention! I'm sad because the second part is blocked in my country (Spain) :(((( I hope I can watch the others!
Just found your channel, great video!
Appreciate it! Hope to see ya around
The rings were handed out to the leaders/kings of the various races. The elves actually made their own rings, and they weren't gifts from Sauron.
Aah alright
Fun fact: There's a fanfic that crosses over the LOTR and the MCU, where Banner and Rogers are surprised to see that Arwen and Elrond look like Betty Ross and Red Skull, respectively.
9:30 Sauron deceived the elves (one of their leaders named Celebrimbor) to create 16 rings of power together with him he could control through his One!
Later, the same guy created another 3 rings without the influence of Sauron, rings with the power to heal, preserve and strengthen hope amongst the free people of Middle-earth!
When he foresaw Sauron was coming for him, he had sent all the rings away. Under torture, they got the locations of the 16 rings but never the three he sent to his fellow elves!
When Sauron had gotten the 16 (back), he gave them to the most powerful/powerhungry rulers amongst humans and dwarves (from their common backstory, the elves would never trust nor follow him), he thought they were the easiest to corrupt! Ultimately, he was right with men, which became the 9 Nazgul but the stubbornness of the dwarves seem to have protected them... the most influence the Rings had on them was they became greedy and amassed great riches... which brought doom and destruction over them in form of dragons and warfare to get these riches
That's a wonderful summation. I'm pleased that it matches up with what little I know on the dispersion of the Rings. I'll repay with a bit of trivia I just discovered. Galadriel denied Celebrimbor what she gifted Gimli. She had a reason, which I won't spoil, and it made what she gave Gimli even more significant. Best. Leo.
That is actually really interesting, wow thanks for the insight and the knowledge
Freerefill Yeah, and it appears other powerful people might have created their own rings of power (minor ones) throughout „history“ like Saruman in the books
@@michaelbastraw1493I'm pretty sure it wasn't Celibrimbor, it was Feanor----she refused him because he made it a demand--he was arrogant and boastful and caused a whole lot of tragedy in the first age. Gimli, on the other hand was modest and humble, so she gave him the precious thing she refused her kinsman.
@@jeandoten1510 As I can't even tell you my original source, I'm going to have to believe you're right. The story fits. Best. Leo.
Just found you, I’m a huge fan of lord of the rings and the wheel of time (an off shoot book series from the 90/00 now being turned into a amazon prime TV series) . I’m not sure quite how things go here but I would love to see your reaction to the amazon prime TV show when it comes out.
Hobbiton is a town, the Shire is the country, Bag End is Bilbo's house.
I've been waiting a long time for this. :D
Happy to hear! It's finally here
The ring is alive, it is part of Sauron, so he corrupt or try to corrupt people around him to get back to Sauron, so keeping it its like having a small cage with a very dangerous animal inside who is trying to escape anytime.
8:40 Isildur didn‘t loose the ring accidentally or because it was his fault, as you will see more often throughout the trilogy the ring has its own will and certain powers to influence people and it‘s surrounding
😂 and the five seconds were rather three years if I remember correctly from the books
Not gonna lie i was really ready to blame him for losing it, but this does make it a lot better 😂
As a Lord of the Rings fan, I am totally okay with you not knowing anything about the characters or world. I am super excited to get to watch you learn and love this epic adventure!
In the books, Frodo is about 50 years old when he begins his journey!
@16:25 And the white-haired fellow seated is Count Dooku of the Star Wars prequels, earlier Scaramanga of the 007 movie Man With The Golden Gun also before that he was Count Dracula, the Mummy and the first of the Frankenstein monsters for Britain's Hammer Studios. He's been in movies for nearly half a century!
Good job bro
I don't even watch it all in one sitting! Thankfully each movie splits into pretty good stopping points every quarter of the movie, around an hour each, making it similar to watching a short season of TV.
Excited to watch these reactions! Sidenote, it took me way too long to place your accent as being a dutch one. Glad I figured it out eventually. :')
Haha enjoy!
Pippin provides a lot of "comic relief" in the movie (and book), but does get to show there's more to him.
Celebrimbor was the best elven Smith in the second age. One day he was approached by Sauron the deceiver in elven form (a disguise) the elves were planning on leaving middle earth, so Sauron suggested that they made magical rings for men and dwarves. Celebrimbor and Sauron forged the rings. But celebrimbor got greedy, and In Secret he forged three rings for the elves. Sauron fought whiff and captured celebrimbor, then forcing him to forge the one ring, then killing celebrimbor. This is the story according to the video game Shadow of Mordor
In the 3d Age of Middle Earth - which are the times of LOTR elven kingdoms are few comparing to mortals kingdoms.
And Rings of Power were given only to the greatest of rulers.
3 rings of elves are :
Narya the Red (ruby),
Nenya the White (diamond),
Vilya the Blue (saphire).
when you see 3 elves in the prologue of FOTR when Galadriel tells "3 were given to the elves"
- those elves on the screen are :
Lady Galadriel herself, and her ring was Nenya - diamond, the ring of air, (its powers probably was divination and protection against Sauron),
King Gil-Galad - the last High King of all elves in mortal lands - his ring was Vilya the ring of water, (powers of this ring were probably healing and control of the weather)
The next time you can see him is in this battle in prologue - he is the guy with the spear when we hear the words "victory was near".
The 3d elf with one of the 3 Rings of Power was Cirdan Shipwright, the lord of elven harbor from which elven ships travel to Valinor - immortal lands - their true home.
Cirdans ring was the one with ruby Narya the Red. Its powers were motivation and inspiration to great deeds.
BUT :) this dividing of elven rings of power was long ago and at the times of this movie its a bit different.
lady Galadriel has her own ring still,
king GilGalad died but before he gave his ring to his standardbearer lord Elrond of Rivendell,
lord Cirdan gave his ring to wizard Gandalf when he arrived from Valinor.
that is all I can tell without spoilers of another 2 movies :)
Yo I'm so hyped to see you react to these masterpieces. LOTR to fantasy is like star wars to sci fi. It's the big boi
