I used to party at a buddies house when we first started partying, and his dad use to play Copperhead Road quite a bit. I've never really been into country music, but that is definitely a jam. This is the first time I've ever seen or heard him outside of his music, and the guy definitely knows what he's talking about, and while I'm not a fan of the Lil Nas X song, his take on it was dead on.
Kyle C ... After hearing him define his art as ‘empathy,’ I was sold. And the fact he’s a great father to his autistic son-that goes a long way for me. What a guy. ✌️
I would like to see every episode of these each to have a country song (preferably old), hip hop/r&b song, rap song, rock song and of course a TOOL and RATM song. Instead of playing something in the person's wheelhouse. I would love to see Steve Earle listen to a TOOL song and what he thinks of it, good or bad... Just my opinion.
this is my favourite episode. steve earle is a good egg, a good man, and a legend in music. plus it's clear that love for others (and love for music) is his number one priority.
They threw Townes in there like they didn’t already know the answer. He named his son after him and released a whole album of Townes covers. Like he’s really gonna say not a jam.
Yeah...NOW it's pretty obvious that this, "Jam or Not a Jam" segment is very catered specifically to each guest. I (maybe naively) thought you were playing random songs for these guest. I was wrong.
@@jeremyc9593 Arcade Fire proudly took themselves from being an incredible, unique band to being ridiculous dance-pop trash, so I'm not surprised they would think Bieber's garbage is a jam.
More from Treme, which is made by the same folks who made The Wire. I don't remember him being on The Wire, but I could be forgetting an appearance. He was pretty prominent on Treme.
When George W was running for his second term Steve told everyone who would listen, and, some that didn't want to, just how bad this man was and he spent time touring and preaching against him. I have loved Steve forever but had to endure his preaching about Bush to a CANADIAN audience at a concert In Guelph Ontario. Finally he said "Hey, I guess I"m talkin' to the converted here" and just played his music. I haven't heard much about his opinion of the current guy they got and I'm kinda disappointed. I hear he's comin' to Toronto pretty soon and I"ll be there ask him why so quiet.
"The converted" -- that statement alone is proof that politics are no different than religious cults. And that's their mission -- "convert or else." They'll eventually resort to criminal behavior to get people to "convert". I imagine that's why they want people to be disarmed so badly. They can carry out their criminal tactics much better against an unarmed population.
Every tour is different, as is every album. I saw Steve & The Dukes on both the Copperhead Rd. tour and the Hard Way tour, and then several times since, and it's never predictable (except the encore).
What Me Worry I have seen Bob Dylan 3 times in concert. One whole concert he sang every song with the music of the first song he performed. Well known hits sung with their words to a different song's music. I don't know how he did it. It wasn't a pleasing concert, but I left impressed. I have been to several Steve Earle concerts and they were wonderful. Even when he had a change of music style with the McCoury Band, and Steve looked worse than he does now, I appreciated seeing him.
Steve Earle is a living legend. Can't help but respect him.
Man Steve Earl is such a down to earth dude. I love his attitude.
Steve Earl is a legend. People... check him out!

*Earle
And he’s a Gooner.
Overrated
One of the heroes. No better songwriter than Steve Earle.
Lots better than him haha
One of the greatest songwriters of all time right there!
Best concert I’ve ever been to was Steve Earle. Dude knows music
Steve Earle makes me happy.
That little bit about his son communicating through Ariana is so sweet 😪😪
well....technically through the Sound of Music, but yeah.
Pretty sure Ariana didn’t write those lyrics.... it’s one of the most recognized songs of the past century!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way about the flute in Townes' songs.
I met Steve Earle at Matt Umanov's guitar shop in NYC about 7 years ago. Really nice guy.
So fun watching him be genuinely moved when gordon and townes come on. This is a great video.
Loves to talk . Love Steve

Where's Bubs at?
Soulful dude.

Oh yea Earl fan here 6-22-20
I wish he was my NA sponcer
Legend!
Did Steve Earle begin to well up when talking about Gordon Lightfoot?
I love ‘em both.
Hi Steve good stuff .
Copperhead Road is still a jam
I like Guitar Town
Check out Snake Oil
Rules the ‘jam genre’. imho.

if they made it random, we wouldn’t learn as much as we do about the artists
That's a random comment......right
Some are random, some get interesting personal stories out of them
@@puckbryn3583 Wow. Yeah. I get your point.
@@gringotroller Yeah...I hear you now.
Of course he would give all a jam
I could work for him.
Steve-O Earle
LOVE YOU
This is the best one yet ❤️
Get his son on here!
Oh well...
I like (but don’t love) Oasis and I’m perfectly OK with Steve hating them.
OK 👍 Thanks - 😐
Oasis were very poor lyricists in my opinion.
They're a good "Best of" band for me. I like maybe 5 of their songs, the rest are pretty boring to me.
STEVE!!
Justin Bieber never gon get Jam on one of these.
The lead singer of Arcade Fire, of all people, gave him a Jam.
Amen

@@jeremyc9593 That would've shocked me....10+ years ago. With the shit they put out now, not so much.
Hates Oasis? Got from respect. First time ive seen an older guy on this show not talk shit about modern music. Open minded dude.
"I hate Oasis, that's about it"
I feel that
Damn so knowledgable and open-minded. Steve Earle is a fucking legend!
I'd bet a $100 bill it was Townes' idea to throw the flute on there.
I'll take your hundred dollars, its actually a harmonica and not a flute.
Yea Townes was uncontrollable and in predictable, good chance his idea, Steve Earle wrote Galway girl, that is such a great song,u da bomb Steve
@@Matt-we2jc good call. dude should listen to the track before he bets money
@Dog Stopper he was knocking the harmonica player ; steve probably knew the guy.
Steve Earle: Ultimate Motherfucker (Highest Degree)
Heard it here first.
Legend.
✌
Is this the guy from The wire?
Yep!
Waylon

You could smell the whiskey burning down....
Steve Earle listening to Ariana Grande.
Never thought I'd see the day.
he comes across extremely likeable
*I hate Oasis* - I fucking love Steve Earle!
this should be called jam or marmalade
of all the bands to hate, he hates Oasis? lol :D
Maybe he hates the Gallagher brothers?
Apparently he hasn’t heard Imagine Dragons...
He knows what he is talking about.
OASIS IS THE GREATEST BAND OF ALL TIME!
damn he seems like one cool ass dude. his music ain't for me but I bet it'd be a fun time sittin on the stool next to him at the bar
I wonder if Ariana Grande knows of Steve Earle and what a compliment he gave to her song?
amerocker he just complemented the melody from the sound of music not really her song
Grande is still trying to figure out how a guitar works
yeah, its not arianas melody, she just ripped it off from a famous musical.
he complimented A Few Of My Favorite Things
I'm sure Grande didnt write it anyway lmao
Oasis is godly tho
Noel dissed him, that's why he hates Oasis
Gordon lightfoot baby
Yeah!! Now there’s a songwriter!
How does he hate Oasis though?
Easy.
He sounds like Post Malone

I hate Oasis also! You rock!
Who’s Steve Earle?
I saw Steve Earle live recently. Hours I will never get back....
not a jam
He goes on my list. Hates Oasis. Get in the bin.
You and me both, man. Can't fucking stand Oasis.
Says he likes a lot of music but hates oasis. Hash tag, dead to me.
I hate Oasis. But Old Town Road is a jam. Jeez
If you don’t know the difference between Old a Town Rod and Oasis then you need therapy. If you claim to like melodies then you should dig Oasis
Hahahahahaha okay
This should be called, “Segway these songs into talking about yourself”
i would rather here steve records reproduced then townes.... townes records don't sound half as self important. lyrically or sonically.
I hate Oasis too 💯💯💯💯💯
I no longer respect Steve Earle after his endorsement of Billy Ray Cyrus
Awful.
Saw him in concert. Regretted it after 30 minutes. Seemed like every song was the same. Same key. Same tempo. Really boring.👎😕
